INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing Flying Santa.

You may already be familiar with similar products, but please take time to read these instructions carefully as they have been written to ensure your maximum enjoyment of your purchase.

Important safeguards

To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and/or injury to persons when using electrical products, basic safety precautions should always be followed. Please ensure you read the Product Safety information before operating Flying Santa.

Keep this instruction manual in a safe place for future reference.

BEFORE FIRST USE

  • Check that all the parts listed in the Package Contents chapter are received.
  • Carefully remove all components from the packaging material.
  • Danger of suffocation! Packaging materials are not toys. Children should not play with them, as there is a risk of swallowing and suffocation!
  • The product also contains small parts which may pose a risk of being swallowed by small children!
  • Ensure you always fly your drone responsibly.
  • Caution : first charge must be not less than 4h to optimize battery efficiency
  • Warning: Changes or modifications to this unit not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.

GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION

WARNING!
This product is a toy, but it is not suitable for children under 10 years old.

Not suitable for children under 3 years due to small parts which may become detached and present choking hazard. Functional sharp edges – laceration hazard.

  • Do not fly the drone in rain, snow, heavy winds, thunder, or similar poor weather conditions.
  • Use only under adult supervision.
  • Improper operation may cause injury or damage to property.
  • Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing away from the rotor blades when power is turned on.
  • Select a flight area with no obstacles and maintain a safe distance from people, pets, power lines, airports, and other restricted air spaces.
  • While the rotor blades have guards, they may not sufficiently protect users if the drone loses control. Keep the drone away from the face and other body sensitive parts.
  • Never try to modify the product.

SAFETY TIPS:

  • Attention! Do not fly the drone near people or animals.
  • Do not fly the Drone in the vicinity of water or power lines.
  • Always switch the Drone and the remote control transmitter off when not in use.
  • Never hold or throw any objects into the running rotors.
  • Do not immerse the product in water, as this could damage electronic components.

BATTERY SAFETY

  • Different types of batteries (i.e. alkaline and zinc) or new and used batteries are not to be mixed in the remote control transmitter.
  • Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used.
  • Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity(+ and –). (Transmitter only)
  • Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the remote control transmitter.
  • The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
  • Batteries should never be left in the product or remote control transmitter for prolonged periods of disuse.
  • Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
  • Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
  • Do not expose the battery to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or fire.
  • Do not place the product on any heat source.
  • Swallowed batteries are dangerous. Keep batteries out of reach of children and pets. Immediately ask for medical assistance if a battery is swallowed.
  • Do not allow children to replace batteries without adult supervision. (Transmitter only)
  • Batteries should be stored in well-ventilated, cool, and dry conditions.
  • Do not leave batteries charging for a prolonged period of time unsupervised.
  • Do not charge overnight.
  • If the product appears to be bulging or shows other concerning signs such as excess noise, stop using it immediately.
  • Do not cover while charging. Charge in a well-ventilated environment.
  • Charge this product once every 3 months to avoid shortening its battery life.
  • Charge the product exclusively with the provided USB charging cable.
  • Lithium batteries produce heat when charging and discharging. If the product becomes too hot to touch, turn it off and unplug it immediately.
  • If the battery leaks, avoid contact with skin and eyes. Rinse affected areas immediately with plenty of clean water, then consult a doctor.
  • Danger of explosion! Do not throw the battery into fire.
  • This toy contains batteries that are non-replaceable (Flying Santa).
  • Do not disassemble or alter the battery.

FLYING SAFETY INFORMATION

Flying precautions

  • Responsible and safe flying is your primary responsibility when operating a drone.
  • It is recommended to fly the drone in calm conditions, as wind can significantly affect the performance of the aircraft.

While flying, NEVER:

  • Compromise safety.
  • Perform any other actions that distract you from flying.

While flying, ALWAYS:

  • Keep your eyes on the drone.
  • Listen to what is going on around you.

INTENDED USE

This product should be used in domestic areas only (house and garden). If used outdoors, use in calm weather conditions.

  • This product is suitable only for private use and it is not intended for commercial purposes.
  • Use the product only as described in this manual. Any other use may lead to personal injury, product or property damage.
  • No liability will be accepted for damage resulting from improper use or non-compliance with this manual.

    NOTE: When Replacing the rotor blades, ensure they are firmly pushed on or they may detach during flight.
    When replacing the rotor, make sure the mark (A or B or C) on both Flying Santa and rotor are matched.

CHARGING FLYING SANTA BATTERY

BATTERY REQUIREMENT FOR FLYING SANTA:

  • Battery: 1x 3.7V LiPo Rechargeable Battery Pack (included)
  • Capacity: 550 mAh

CHARGING FLYING SANTA BATTERY

  1. Connect the charging cable to a USB socket.

  2. Turn off the Flying Santa. Insert charging plug into the charging socket. The charging process will begin automatically, and the charging indicator will light up.

  3. Unplug the charging plug when charging indicator turns off, charging is completed.

Note:

  1. The Flying Santa can operate for about 4 – 5 minutes per every 40 – 50 minutes charging.
  2. Before recharging the battery, wait 10 – 15 minutes for it to cool down.

REMOTE CONTROL BATTERY REPLACEMENT

BATTERY REQUIREMENT FOR REMOTE CONTROL

  • Batteries: 3 x 1.5V “AAA”/LR03/AM4 (not included)
  • Rating: DC 4.5V, 0.5W

INSERTING/REPLACING REMOTE CONTROL BATTERIES

Make sure the power switch is on “OFF” position.

Note: When the Power indicator on the remote control transmitter starts blinking, replace the batteries.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

BEFORE YOU START PAIRING THE CONTROLLER TO THE DRONE

A connection must be made between the Flying Santa and the remote control to function. Follow these steps to pair the Flying Santa with the remote control.

  1. Switch on the Flying Santa and place it on flat ground. The red LED lights on the Flying Santa will flash.
  2. Turn the power switch button to ‘ON’ position. The LED on the remote control transmitter will then also flash.
  3. Push the throttle sticks to the top position and then pull down to the bottom position (fig. 1). The power indicator on the remote control will light up. The pairing procedure is now complete.

  • Gently push the throttle up to raise the Flying Santa about 1.5 to 2 meter from the ground.

  • If your Flying Santa veers right (fig. 2),press the left side trimmer continually until it stabilises (fig. 3).

  • If your Flying Santa veers left (fig. 4), press the right side trimmer continually until it stabilises (fig. 5).

  • If your Flying Santa pitches forward (fig. 6), press the backward trimmer continually until it stabilises (fig. 7).

  • If your Flying Santa pitches backward (fig. 8), press the forward trimmer continually until it stabilises (fig. 9).

FLYING THE DRONE

LIFT-OFF PROCEDURE (after pairing procedure is completed):

  • Put the Flying Santa on flat ground – an uneven surface will adversely affect it takes off.
  • Slowly increase the throttle.
  • DO NOT look at the remote control transmitter but focus on the Flying Santa.
  • As soon as the Flying Santa leaves ground, reduce the throttle slightly. (in the worst case, the Flying Santa will return to the floor, but this is better than crashing against the ceiling)
  • VERY gently increase the throttle if the Flying Santa goes down.
  • VERY gently reduce the throttle if the Flying Santa goes up.
  • When turning, give brief, small inputs to the direction stick. (most beginners will commonly over control the Flying Santa)

HOVER UP AND DOWN

With the Flying Santa hovering steadily, you can slowly push the throttle stick up to gain height or lower the stick slightly to fly lower.

Only small changes to the stick position are required for smooth flying.

TURN LEFT AND RIGHT

Maintain the Flying Santa at a steady height. Push the direction stick left to rotate counter-clockwise, or push the direction stick right to turn clockwise.

MOVE FORWARD AND BACKWARD

Maintain the Flying Santa at a steady height. Push the direction stick up to fly the Flying Santa forward. Pull it downward to fly the Flying Santa backward.

Maintain the Flying Santa at a steady height. Push the direction stick left to fly the Flying Santa sideways to the left. Push it right to fly the Flying Santa sideways to the right.

EMERGENCY STOP

When in stable flight, press the throttle stick vertically down once to perform an emergency stop.

ALTITUDE CONTROL

To maintain the same altitude, push in the throttle stick and move up to fly upwards and down to descend, then release the throttle stick to set the altitude. Be cautious of altitude when flying indoors.

NOTE: LANDING – Slowly decrease the throttle to land the Flying Santa and keep pull the throttle stick downward until the propellers stop.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

Symptom Cause Correction
The Flying Santa does not respond.
  • The Flying Santa and/or the remote control are switched off (“OFF”).
  • The battery of the Flying Santa is low on charge.

  • Set the power switch to “ON”.
  • Recharge the Flying Santa battery.

The Flying Santa does not respond, or responds poorly, to controller operations.|

  • Pairing procedure has not yet been successfully completed.

  • Repeat the pairing procedure.

Loss of control.|

  • The Flying Santa is out of range from the controller.

  • Move the controller closer to the Flying Santa
  • The controller range is up to 30 meters in open space.

Please note all electrical and electronic products and/or packaging now carries a “crossed out wheelie bin” logo to help you identify products that are recyclable.

This product contains batteries and electronics that may be harmful to the environment. The battery contained in this control remote control transmitter unit is replaceable. Do not throw batteries into a fire.

The crossed-out dustbin symbol indicates that batteries, rechargeable batteries, button cells, battery packs, etc. must not be put in the household waste. If the toy is out of use, please use common household tool to break the product for built-in rechargeable battery operated toy or unscrew the battery door for replaceable battery operated toy, then take the battery out from the toy.
