  • If the unit is not used for a long period of time, disconnect it from the power supply by unplugging the power plug. This is to avoid the risk of fire.

INSTALLATION

CONTENT OF DELIVERY

POWER SUPPLY
➢ Use only the supplied AC adaptor!
➢ Ensure that the voltage is the same as that indicated on the AC adapter identification plate.
➢ Connect the supplied AC adapter to a properly installed safety power socket and the plug of the USB plug at the backside of the unit.
➢ When the unit is connected to mains power, the display shown on the upper left side the indicator for this mode and the built-in battery will be charged.
➢ When the unit is not connected to mains power, the display shows the battery indicator on the upper left side.
➢ The battery indicator shows the battery level of the device.

ERP power management
The unit will turn off automatically after 15 minutes in standby mode if there is no audio signal. To turn on the unit again press the “POWER / MODE” button.

BASIC OPERATIONS

POWER ON / OFF
Press and hold the “POWER / MODE” button to turn the unit on.
During on mode, press and hold “POWER / MODE” to turn off the unit in standby mode. The clock and date are shown in the display.
In standby mode, press the “POWER / MODE” button to turn on the unit.
In standby mode, press and hold “POWER / MODE” to turn off the unit completely.

SELECTING MODES
During playing mode, press the “POWER / MODE” button repeatedly to switch between the modes DAB, FM or Bluetooth®.
ADJUSTING VOLUME
Rotate the “VOLUME / ENTER” knob at the right side to decrease or increase the volume.

DAB

To improve the reception, extend the antenna completely and align it vertically.

  1. In on mode, press the “POWER / MODE” button repeatedly to select the DAB mode.
  2. At the first start, the unit will automatically start the scan function and search all available stations.
  3. During the scan, the display will show “DAB Suchlauf ………” together with a slide bar that indicates the progress of the scan and the number of stations that have been found.
  4. After the scan has finished, the unit will select the first alphanumerically found station.
  5. To explore the found stations, select with “ ” or “  ” the desired radio station and press the“VOLUME / ENTER” knob to confirm the selected station.

NOTE: If DAB reception is poor, dropouts may occur or the sound will be muted, change the position to improve the reception.

STORE RADIO STATIONS

In either DAB or FM, you can store up to 20 of your favorite stations in the memory. This will enable you to access your favorite stations quickly and easily.

  1. Select the desired station. Press and hold the “P” button. The display will show “Preset Store” and below “<1: (Empty) >”.
    Note: If there is a station that is already stored, it will show the stored “Station name/ frequency and P#”.

  2. Select with “ ” or “ ” your desired preset station number and confirm the selection by pressing the “VOLUME / ENTER” knob. The station will be stored and the display will show “Preset # stored”.

  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to store further stations.

You can also store desired radio station directly to preset station buttons “1 – 3”. To do this, select the desired radio station press and hold the corresponding station button pressed until “Preset # stored” appears on the display.

RECALL STORED RADIO STATIONS

  1. To recall a stored station, press the “P”. Choose with “ ” or “ ” the desired station number and press the “VOLUME / ENTER” knob to confirm.
  2. If you choose a preset station number that has not been allocated a station,” Empty” will be displayed.

DAB DISPLAY INFORMATION
Press the “I/M” button repeatedly to cycle through the information modes. The information is displayed on the lower segment of the display.
DAB MENU
The device must be in DAB mode. Enter the DAB menu by pressing and holding the “I/M” button.
Select with “ ” or “ ” one of the following settings and confirm with “VOLUME / ENTER”:
a) Full scan:
Starts the complete station scan. The DAB frequency band is scanned for available stations.
b) Manual tune:
To do so you need to know the station frequency. This can be found on the internet site of the broadcasting service. Select individual frequencies and confirm with the “VOLUME / ENTER” button.
c) Prune:
It may be that you can no longer receive some stations after a station scan or change of location. With this function, you can delete these stations from the reception list. Select “YES” and confirm with “VOLUME / ENTER”.
d) System:
See under “SYSTEM SETTINGS”.

FM

To improve the reception, extend the antenna completely and align it vertically. In on mode, press the “POWER / MODE” button repeatedly to select the FM mode.

AUTOMATIC STATION SEARCH
To start the automatic station search, select the direction with “ ” or “ ” and then press the “VOLUME / ENTER” knob.
Note: The radio automatically stops when a station is found.
MANUAL SEARCH
Briefly press the “ ” or “ ” button to adjust the frequency in 100kHz steps.
STORE PRESET STATION
Is the same as in DAB mode.
RECALL PRESET STATION
Is the same as in DAB mode.
FM INFORMATION
Press the “I/M” button repeatedly to cycle through the information modes. The information is displayed on the lower segment of the display.
FM MENU
The device must be in FM mode. Enter the FM menu by pressing and holding the “I/M” button. Select with the “ ” or “ ” button one of the following settings and press the “VOLUME / ENTER”:
a) Scan setting:
Select the desired option for automatic station search.
– All stations: Search for all stations that can be received. In this case, station search also stops for weak stations.
– Strong stations only: Only clear stations are searched.
b) System:
See under “SYSTEM SETTINGS”.

BLUETOOTH®

If you are using a Bluetooth audio device, make sure the working distance is within 10 meters.
The different environments may have an effect on the working distance.

  1. Press the “POWER / MODE” button repeatedly to select the Bluetooth® mode.
  2. Turn on the Bluetooth® function on your audio device and choose “DAB60”. After your audio device is paired successfully, the display shows “Bluetooth connected”.
  3. Press the “VOLUME / ENTER” knob to start or interrupt the playback.
  4. Select with “ ” or “ ” the previous or next track.

This unit contains also a hands-free function. If you have connected a mobile phone by Bluetooth® and you get a call, press the “VOLUME / ENTER” button to activate the function.
To hang up the call, press the “VOLUME / ENTER” button again. Reject the call by pressing and holding the “VOLUME / ENTER” button. The music playback will be continued. Note: This function is only available in BT mode!

MOTION SENSOR (PIR)

While people enter into the effective area and make motions, the unit will play automatically. Otherwise, it will turn off automatically after a defined time since there is no detection signal occurred (for example, people is out of the detective area or make no motion). Always pay attention, that no moving curtains or flowers in the detection area, otherwise radio will turn on by moving of them due to any reason (e.g. air circulation).

ACTIVATE OR DEACTIVATE MOTION SENSOR

  1. Press and hold the “I/M” button to enter the menu.
  2. Select with “ ” or “ ” the point “System” and confirm with the “VOLUME / ENTER” knob.
  3. Choose the point “PIR Switch” and press “VOLUME / ENTER” to confirm the selection.
  4. To activate the function, set “PIR ON”. To deactivate the function, set “PIR OFF”. Confirm the selection by pressing the “VOLUME / ENTER” knob.

The motion sensor can also be activated or deactivated by pressing and holding the “P” button in standby mode.

PIR OFF TIME
With this function, you set the delay time after which the device switches off after no motion detection. You can set the delay time 1-10 minutes.

ALARM

You can set up Alarm 1 and Alarm 2.

SET THE ALARM

  1. When the unit is turned on, press and the “I/M” button, select the point “SYSTEM” with “ ” or “ ” button and press “VOLUME / ENTER” to confirm.

  2. Select the point “Alarms” and “VOLUME /ENTER” to confirm.

  3. Select “Alarm 1” or “Alarm 2” and press “VOLUME / ENTER” to confirm.

  4. Set the alarm time and confirm with the “VOLUME / ENTER” button again.

  5. Select the wake-up source (DAB, FM or Buzzer) and press again “VOLUME / ENTER”.

  6. Select the wake-up frequency (Daily, Once, Weekends, Weekdays) and confirm the selection with “VOLUME / ENTER“.

  7. Now adjust the volume level with the “ ” or “ ” button and press the “VOLUME / ENTER” knob.
    NOTE: Set the highest volume level with the “VOLUME / ENTER” knob!

  8. If you want to activate the alarm, set “Alarm on”. If you want to deactivate the alarm, set “Alarm off”. When the alarm is activated, the alarm icon is shown in the display.

SNOOZE
When the alarm sounds, press any key (except the “POWER / MODE” button) to activate the snooze function. The alarm sounds again after 5 minutes. During the snooze function, you can change the snooze time with “ ” or “ ”.

TURN OFF ALARM
When the alarm sounds, press the “POWER / MODE” button to deactivate the sounding alarm tone.

ACTIVATE / DE-ACTIVATE THE ALARM
Follow steps 1-8 under “SET THE ALARM” (see above). If you want to activate the alarm, set “Alarm on”. If you want to deactivate the alarm, set “Alarm off”. When the alarm is activated, the alarm icon is shown in the display.

SYSTEM SETTINGS

USING THE SYSTEM MENU

  • To cycle through the options in a menu, press the “ ” or “ ” button.
  • To confirm a selection, press the “VOLUME / ENTER” knob.
  • To adjust a value (e.g. hour time), press the “ ” or “ ” button and then press the “VOLUME / ENTER” button.
  • To go back to the previous menu/screen, press the “I/M” button.

ACCESSING THE SYSTEM MENU

  1. In DAB or FM mode, press and hold the “I/M” button to enter the menu.
  2. Press “ ” or “  ” to cycle through the options until you see “System” and confirm with “VOLUME / ENTER”.
  3. Select with the “ ” or “ ” button one of the following options:
  • Time
    The date and time of the radio is automatically set once it receives radio broadcast signals (and when such info is available). The Time Setup menu contains the below options:
    ➢ Set Time/Date
    ➢ Auto Update (To define how the radio updates the time and date information. Select “From Radio” to update from radio signals, or “No Update” to stop the automatic update.)
    ➢ Set date format
    ➢ Set hour system (Set the time format: 12 or 24 hours)

  • PIR off time
    See chapter “MOTION SENSOR (PIR).

  • PIR switch
    See chapter “MOTION SENSOR (PIR).

  • SW Version
    Show the currently installed software version.

  • Factory Reset
    Reset the product to factory default status.
    Select “YES” with “ ” or “ ” and press “VOLUME /ENTER” to confirm.
    Note: All settings and radio stations will be erased.

  • Language
    Select the desired menu language.

  • EQ
    Choose the desired mode of the equalizer: Rock / Jazz / Pop / Classic / Normal / News /Movie / Flat

  • Alarms
    See chapter “Alarm”.

  • Backlight
    ➢ Timeout: Setting the time until the display will be dimmed (Off / 10 / 20 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 180).
    ➢ Level: Setting the level of the backlight brightness (High / Medium / Low)
