IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS READ AND SAVE THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE USING THIS AIR PURIFIER
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:
- Read all instructions before operating the air purifier.
- Place air purifier where it is not easily overturned by persons in the household.
- ALWAYS turn the air purifier controls to the OFF position and unplug from the wall outlet when not in use.
- To disconnect the air purifier, make sure the unit is powered OFF then grip the plug and pull it from the wall outlet. NEVER pull by the cord.
- DO NOT use any product with a damaged cord or plug, any product that malfunctions, or any product that has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
- DO NOT use air purifier outdoors.
- NEVER use air purifier unless it is fully assembled.
- DO NOT run power cord under carpets, and DO NOT cover with throw rugs. Arrange cord such that it will not be a tripping hazard.
- DO NOT use air purifier where combustible gases or vapors are present.
- DO NOT expose the air purifier to rain, or use near water, in a bathroom, laundry area, or other damp location.
- The air purifier MUST be used in its upright position.
- DO NOT allow foreign objects to enter ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause electric shock or damage to the air purifier. DO NOT block air outlets or intakes.
- Locate air purifier near the outlet. DO NOT use an extension cord or power strip.
- This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit only one way in a polarized outlet. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. DO NOT attempt to defeat this safety feature.
- A loose fit between the AC outlet (receptacle) and plug may cause overheating and a distortion of the plug. Contact a qualified electrician to replace loose or worn outlet.
- DO NOT sit, stand, or place heavy objects on the air purifier.
- ALWAYS disconnect power supply before servicing.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- Filters may be harmful if ingested. Avoid breathing dust when changing filters.
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT USE THIS AIR PURIFIER WITH ANY SOLID-STATE SPEED CONTROL DEVICE.
GETTING TO KNOW YOUR AIR PURIFIER
Your Honeywell Air Purifier has five basic components: the powerhead assembly
(with controls and motor), the Odor Reducing Pre-Filter, the
Long Life Certified HEPA Filter, the base assembly, and the locking mechanism.
HOW YOUR AIR PURIFIER WORKS
This model air purifier incorporates a 2-stage cleaning system to help clean
the air that passes through the filter in the unit (Fig. 1).
Stage 1: Type A Pre-Filter Odor Reducing Pre-Filter.
Stage 2: Type F
Filter Certified HEPA Filter captures the following microscopic airborne
allergens and particles: dust, pollen, pet dander, dust mite debris and smoke
as small as 0.3 microns or larger from the air that passes through the filter.
GETTING STARTED
Select a firm, level, and flat location. For best air flow, locate the unit at
least 3 feet (1 meter) from any wall or furniture.
Due to the large volume of air drawn towards the air purifier, surrounding
areas should be cleaned and/or vacuumed frequently to prevent dust buildup. If
the unit is placed on light colored carpeting, a small mat or rug should be
used to ease cleaning and prevent any staining of carpeting. This is
particularly important in homes with heavier contamination from smoking or
fireplaces.
Locate Odor Reducing Pre-Filter A Pre-Filter in the box and install before
initial operation. Refer to “Removing/ Changing the Filters” section for
proper installation.
OPERATION
Portable air purifiers are more effective in rooms where all doors and windows
are closed. It is recommended that you run your air purifier while you are at
home to help clean the air.
BEFORE OPERATION MAKE SURE PRE-FILTER A
Pre-Filter IS INSTALLED.
Refer to “Removing/Changing the Filters” section for proper installation.
Ensure the air purifier is plugged into a working electrical outlet and the
Power Knob is turned to the OFF position.
Allow the unit to operate for a few seconds at turbo speed , then leave the
control knob in the turbo position for faster, more powerful room cleaning, or
move the knob to the day or sleep setting for quieter operation.
FILTER INDICATOR
The Filter Indicators serve as a convenient guideline for when to check/change
the Long Life Certified HEPA
Filter and when to replace the Odor Reducing Pre-Filter. Depending upon your
individual usage (environment and hours used), you may need to clean/replace
the filters more or less frequently.
When the HEPA Filter Indicator Light turns on, it’s time to check your HEPA
Filter. The reminder for when to check the HEPA Filter is intended as a
guideline only as the performance of the filter media is dependent on the
concentration of the particles to which the system is exposed. Filter can be
vacuumed to extend its life. On average, for best performance your HEPA Filter
will need to be replaced every 3 to 5 years. If there are sources of large
amounts of particle generation (such as dust from woodworking or heavy
smoking) the HEPA Filter in your air purifier may need to be replaced more
often. For instructions on how to replace your HEPA Filter, refer to section
“Removing/Changing the Filters” in this manual.
When your Pre-Filter Indicator Light turns on, it’s time to replace your Odor
Reducing Pre-Filter. It should be replaced at least every 3 months. If there
are heavy concentrations of odors, smoke, or large particles in the home, you
may need to change the Odor Reducing Pre-Filter more often. For instructions
on how to replace your prefilter, refer to section “Removing/Changing the
Filters” in this manual.
NOTE: We DO NOT recommend operating the air purifier without the Odor Reducing
Pre-Filter. Your air purifier was shipped with a with an activated carbon,
Odor Reducing Pre-Filter A Pre-Filter . It can be replaced with either pre-
filter A Pre-Filter or Pre-Filter
A+ . The Pre-Filter
A+ pre-filter features enhanced odor and household gas adsorbing performance.
Replacement Pre-Filters may be purchased at the retail store where you
purchased your air purifier, or can be ordered directly from
www.HoneywellPluggedIn.com. If you need assistance or have any questions,
contact Consumer Relations at
1-800-477-0457.
RESET FILTER INDICATOR/TURN LIGHT OFF To Reset Filter Indicator
- Once the filter has been checked and replaced as needed, the Filter Indicator will need to be reset.
- With the unit powered on, press and hold the appropriate Filter Indicator button down for approximately 10 seconds until the light turns off (Fig. 2).
REMOVING/CHANGING THE FILTERS
CAUTION: DISCONNECT FROM POWER SUPPLY BEFORE SERVICING
DO NOT attempt to wash either the Odor Reducing Pre-Filter or the HEPA Filter. They are not washable and washing will damage the filters.
WARNING : FILTERS MAY BE HARMFUL IF INGESTED. AVOID BREATHING DUST WHEN CHANGING FILTERS.
The only two parts requiring any service from you are the Odor Reducing Pre- Filter and the HEPA Filter. No tools are needed. To remove or change either filter, disassemble the unit as shown below:
BEFORE OPERATING THE AIR PURIFIER, MAKE SURE PRE-FILTER IS IN PLACE.
To order replacement pre-filter or filter, refer to the “Accessories and
Replacement Filters” section.
Step 1: Turn the air purifier off and unplug from the wall outlet.
Step 2: To open and gain access to the filter, gently place the air purifier
on its side and unscrew the locking mechanism located on the bottom of the
unit (Fig. 3).
Step 3: Remove the base assembly from the air purifier.
Step 4: Remove the filter or filter assembly (consisting of the HEPA Filter
and pre-filter) from the internal chamber.
Step 5: If pre-filter is being changed, locate the seam of the pre-filter and
carefully separate the fastener to remove the pre-filter from the HEPA Filter
(Fig. 4).
Step 6: Discard used pre-filter if necessary. Check the HEPA Filter to ensure
it is not too dirty or seems to be clogged. Replace the HEPA Filter if
necessary.
Step 7: Carefully wrap the pre-filter around the HEPA Filter so that the ends
meet (Fig. 5). Fasten the ends together with the fastener provided.
Step 8: Place the whole filter assembly back into the internal chamber. Close
the product by replacing the base and tightening the locking mechanism until
snug. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN.
Step 9: Turn the air purifier into an upright position, plug into a wall
outlet and it is then ready for operation. DO NOT forget to reset the Filter
Indicator.
CLEANING AND STORAGE
We recommend that you clean the air purifier at least once a month and before
extended storage. Use only a dry cloth to wipe the external surfaces of the
air purifier.
DO NOT USE WATER, WAX, POLISH, OR ANY CHEMICAL SOLUTION. If you store your Air
Purifier for more than 30 days, we recommend:
- Removing both the primary HEPA Filter and the Odor Reducing Pre-Filter from the unit.
- Discarding the pre-filter.
- Wrapping the HEPA Filter in an air-tight plastic bag or plastic wrap. Be sure that the filter is totally sealed.
- To restore the air purifier to service, unwrap the HEPA Filter, install a new Odor Reducing Pre-Filter, and reinstall both filters in the air purifier. See “Removing/Changing the Filters” section for proper installation.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
My Air Purifier is starting to make noise and the air output is less. What’s
wrong?
The filters may be dirty. High amounts of particles can block the pores in the
filter and stop the air from moving through it. Replace the HEPA Filter.
How long should I run my Air Purifier?
Portable air purifiers are more effective in rooms where all doors and windows
are closed. It is recommended that you run your air purifier while you are at
home to help clean the air. If desired, or conditions warrant, you may run
your air purifier 24 hours a day. Can I wash the filters?
No. Washing the filters will destroy them.
