Ports Description

RJ45

| 10/100/1000BASE-T ports for Ethernet connection. Port 15 to 16 can be used for uplink ports (VLAN on).

LEDs Status Description

RJ45

|

Solid on

| The port is connected to a device, but no data is being transmitted over the port.

Blinking

| The port is connected to a device and data is being transmitted over the port.

Off

| The port is not connected or is not connected properly.

LEDs Status Description

PWR

| Solid on| The switch is powered on properly.
Off| The switch is not powered on, or not powered on properly.

VLAN

|

On

| In this mode, ports 1 to 14 of the switch cannot communicate with each other, but can communicate with ports 15 and 16. You can enable this mode to isolate DHCP broadcast and reduce broadcast storms.
Off| Default mode of the switch. In this mode, all ports can communicate with each other.

NOTE: The switch supports auto MDI/MDIX. You can use either a straight- through cable or a crossover cable to connect the switch to the Ethernet devices.

Installation Requirements

Before you begin the installation, make sure that you have the following:

  • Desktop mounting: ESD bracelet (or ESD gloves).
  • Wall mounting: ESD bracelet (or ESD gloves), ladder, marker, hammer drill, rubber hammer, screwdriver.

Site Environment:

  • Do not operate it in an area that exceeds an ambient temperature of 45°C.
  • The installation site must be well ventilated. Ensure that there is adequate air flow around the switch.
  • Be sure that the switch is level and stable to avoid any hazardous conditions.
  • Do not install the equipment in a dusty environment.
  • The installation site must be free from leaking or dripping water, heavy dew, and humidity.
  • Ensure wall and working platforms are well earthed.

`Mounting the Switch

Desk Mounting

  1.  Attach four rubber pads to the bottom.
  2.  Place the chassis on a desk.

Wall Mounting

  1. Use a hammer drill to drill 2 holes (diameter: 6 mm) on the wall and the distance between the 2 holes is 110 mm. Keep the two holes on a horizontal line.

  3. Use a screwdriver to fix the screws into the expansion bolts. Distance between the inside surface of the screw header and the edge of the expansion bolt should not be less than 2.5 mm, to make sure that the switch can be hung on the screws firmly.FS S1900-16T Ethernet Unmanaged Switch fig-11FS S1900-16T Ethernet Unmanaged Switch fig-12
  4. Align the two wall-mounting slots on the bottom of the switch with the two screws on the wall, and then slide the switch to fit in the screws until it is firmly hung on the screws.

NOTE: This switch can only be installed on a concrete or non-flammable wall.

Grounding the SwitchFS S1900-16T Ethernet Unmanaged Switch

  1. Connect one end of the grounding cable to a proper earth ground, such as the wall in which the switch is mounted.
  2. Secure the grounding lug to the grounding point on the back of the switch with the washer and screw.

CAUTION: The earth connection must not be removed unless all supply connections have been disconnected.

  1. Plug the AC power cord into the power port on the back of the switch.
  2. Connect the other end of the power adapter to an AC power source.

WARNING: Do not install power adapter while the power is on.

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port of a computer, printer, network storage, or other network devices.
  2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port of the switch.
