User Guide
Welcome to Bowers & Wilkins and the Panorama 3
Thank you for choosing Bowers & Wilkins. When John Bowers first established
our company he did so in the belief that imaginative design, innovative
engineering, and advanced technology were keys that could unlock the enjoyment
of audio in the home. His belief is one that we continue to share and it
inspires every product we design.
The Panorama 3 is a very high-performance product that rewards thoughtful
installation, so we suggest that you take some time to read this manual before
you begin.
Panorama 3 is a network-connected, active multi-channel Atmos soundbar that
enables both TV audio and other audio sources and streams to play without the
need for conventional amplification components. The Panorama 3 is primarily
intended to be controlled using the Bowers & Wilkins Home iOS or Android app,
however, commonly used control functions are also available via buttons on the
top of the speaker. When connected directly to a television, Panorama 3 volume
can be controlled by the television remote control.
Before you begin installing and configuring your Panorama 3, please download
and install the Bowers & Wilkins Home app on your iOS or Android device. It is
only possible to install and configure the Panorama 3 using the Home app.
With your Panorama 3 soundbar you can:
- Play any audio from a TV connected to the Panorama 3 via HDMI or optical connections
- Play audio streams via AirPlay2 directly from compatible devices
- Play audio streams via either a wired or wireless network connection directly from a variety of music streaming services or from local network storage devices.
- Play music streamed from an OS X, iOS, Android, Windows, or Windows Mobile device using Bluetooth wireless technology.
This manual will tell you everything you need to know to get the most from your Panorama 3. It begins by listing the contents of the Panorama 3 carton.

to the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) in electrical and electronic

Getting to know your Panorama 3
The Panorama 3 soundbar is designed for very high performance left, right,
center, LFE and
Atmos height channels. The soundbar is primarily intended to be mounted
directly below a television screen using its supplied wall mounting hardware,
but may also be placed on a shelf or furniture unit. Placing the Panorama 3 in
cabinetry that covers the height channels can significantly limit the audio
performance of the speaker.
Note: If using a shelf or furniture unit, ensure that it is strong enough
securely to support the weight of the soundbar.
The Panorama 3 soundbar requires a connection to a mains power supply. A main
cable appropriate for your territory is included in the carton.
The Panorama 3 incorporates a connection panel on its rear panel incorporating
mains power, HDMI, network, and digital audio input sockets.
Note: The rear panel SERVICE socket is intended for diagnostic and
service use only. It cannot be used for audio data.
Your Panorama 3 soundbar is primarily intended to be controlled by the TV
remote control or the Bowers & Wilkins Home app, however, on-body buttons
provide volume controls and play/pause control.
A reset button adjacent to connection sockets enables the Panorama 3 to be
returned to its default factory settings.
Wall Mounting your Panorama 3
If your Panorama 3 is to be wall-mounted, the bracket screw hole positions on
the wall must first be established. Use a spirit level to ensure the bracket
is level before marking the hole positions. Drill and plug the wall for
appropriate screws. A second person to assist with marking holes and lifting
the Panorama 3 is recommended.
Use wall plugs that are appropriate for the type of wall construction and
ensure that the wall, plugs, and screws are capable of reliably supporting the
weight of the Panorama 3. If you have any doubt over your ability to mount the
bracket securely to the wall you should engage specialist help. Once the
bracket has been secured to the wall, Panorama 3 can be lifted onto the
bracket and secured.
Connecting your Panorama 3
Use the mains cables supplied to connect the Panorama 3 to a mains power
socket. The soundbar will switch on automatically when the mains power is
connected and enter its default configuration state, indicated by its
indicator.
If your Panorama 3 installation requires either a wired or wireless network
connection or television audio or connection, the network and television audio
cables should be connected to the Panorama 3 via its rear panel sockets. The
Bowers & Wilkins Home app provides step-by-step guidance on configuring
Panorama 3 connections.
Setting up your Panorama 3
Once connected to mains power your Panorama 3 can be configured and set up
using the Home app. If you have not already downloaded and installed the app
on your iOS or Android device please do so now.
The Home app will guide you through the following configuration and setup
stages so that your Panorama 3 is ready for use.
- Product Identification: Enables your Panorama 3 to be named and the type of installation to be specified.
- Network Connection: Configures your Panorama 3 appropriately to connect to your home network.
- Music Streaming Setup: Enables your Panorama 3 to connect to and stream audio from a range of music streaming services or from local network storage devices.
- Input Configuration: Configures your Panorama 3 appropriately to use your television audio output.
- Firmware Updates: If any firmware updates are available for your Panorama 3 they will be automatically installed.
Using your Panorama 3
With the Home app setup process complete your Panorama 3 is ready for use. You
can select audio streams and sources, and control volume from the Home app or
from the controls on the Panorama 3 itself.
The Home app also provides options for optimizing the Panorama 3 frequency
response to its environment, control of additional Bowers & Wilkins Formation
products in your home, and provides extensive interactive content designed to
support, enhance and extend your Bowers & Wilkins Formation experience.
Resetting your Panorama 3
The Panorama 3 has a reset button located adjacent to its connection panel. To
return your Panorama 3 to its default settings press and hold the reset button
for 5 seconds. The Panorama 3 indicator will flash while the reset procedure
is underway. When the reset procedure is complete Panorama 3 will restart.
Cleaning Your Panorama 3
Wipe surfaces with the supplied cleaning cloth. If you wish to use a cleaning
agent, apply it onto the cleaning cloth, not directly onto the soundbar. Test
a small area first, as some cleaning products may damage some of the surfaces.
Avoid products that are abrasive, or contain acid, alkali, or anti-bacterial
agents.
