There is an area on the base of the inner bowl that has to remain unglazed for manufacturing purposes. This unglazed area is porous, therefore will soak up water, this should be avoided.

PARTS DESCRIPTION

  1.  Glass lid
  2.  Ceramic inner bowl
  3.  Indicator light
  4.  Control Knob

Control Knob

The control knob on the slow cooker offers Low and High settings for cooking, as well as the Warm setting for keeping cooked food warm. Low setting requires longer cooking period than High setting. These settings allow you to adapt the cooking time to your convenience.

BEFORE USE
During initial use you may notice a slight odour due to the burning off of manufacturing residues. This is completely normal and will disappear after a few uses.
Pour some water into the inner bowl and allow the appliance to operate on the High setting for about 30 minutes. This can help reduce the odour in future uses. Allow the appliance to cool off and then discard the water. Rinse and dry the inner bowl thoroughly, then place it back to the appliance.

USE

Only use this product with the correct AC outlet (220-240V).

  1. Place the base on the dry, level, heat resistant surface, away from the edge of the work surface. Do not use on the floor.
  2. Place ingredients into the ceramic inner bowl, and place the pot into the base. Cover with the glass lid. If you need to pre-cook or brown foods prior to slow cooking, this must be done in a pan. Do not try to brown or pre-cook food in the slow cooker.
  3. With the control knob set to the Off position, plug the unit into the mains socket.
  4. Set the heat control to Low or High.
  5. When cooking is finished, use the Warm setting to keep food warm.
  6. After use, switch off and unplug the slow cooker and remove the inner bowl using oven gloves.

CAUTION:
Be careful not to touch the base immediately after cooking as it remains not.
To prevent damage or shock hazard, do not cook on the heating surface. Cook only in the provided inner bowl.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  1.  Remove the inner bowl and lid and wash them in mild soapy water. Rinses completely, then dry with a soft clean cloth.
  2.  Clean the outside of your cooker when necessary with a clean damp cloth or with a mild dish detergent. Never use abrasive cleaners. Do not use any metal tools or steel wool on the outside finish or on cooking pot as they may cause damage.
  3.  To clean the heating plate, use a soft and slightly damp cloth or sponge to remove any residue. Allow drying completely before re-using. You must keep the heating plate free from any foreign objects; otherwise, the cooker will not be operated properly.
  4.  Any residue of vinegar or salt may cause your inner bowl to corrode. Always cleanse completely after each use.
  5. Any servicing other than cleaning should be performed by an authorized service representative.
NOTE: The inner bowl and lid are dishwasher-safe.
CAUTION: Never immerse the outer pot into water or any other liquid!

Tips for slow a cooking

  1.  The slow cooker must be at least half full for best results.
  2. Slow cooking retains moisture. If you wish to reduce this, remove the lid after cooking and turn the control to Low and reduce by simmering for 30 to 45 minutes.
  3. The lid is not a sealed fit. Don’t remove unnecessarily as the built-up heat will escape. Each time you remove the lid, allow 10 minutes extra cooking time.
  4.  Most meat and vegetable recipes require 8-10 hours on Low or 4-6 hours on High. Vegetables usually take longer to cook than meat, so try and arrange vegetables in the lower half of the inner bowl.
  5.  Do not use frozen meat or poultry unless it is thoroughly thawed out first. Make sure all frozen ingredients are well thawed out.
  6.  After food is cooked, switch off and leave the appliance covered with the lid. There will be enough heat in the inner bowl to keep warm for 30 minutes. If you require longer to keep warm, switch to the Warm setting.
  7.  If cooking soups, leave 5 cm space between the top of the inner bowl and the food surface to allow simmering.
  8.  All food should be covered with a liquid, gravy or sauce. In a separate pan or jug prepare your liquid, gravy or sauce and completely cover the food in the inner bowl.
  9.  Cut root vegetable into small, even pieces, as they take longer to cook than meat. They should be gently sautéed for 2-3 minutes before slow cooking, ensure that root vegetables are always placed at the bottom of the inner bowl and all ingredients are immersed in the cooking liquid.
  10.  Trim all excess fat from meat before cooking, since the slow cooking method does not allow fat to evaporate.
  11.  Never leave uncooked food at room temperature in the slow cooker.
  12.  Uncooked red beans must be soaked and boiled for at least 10 minutes to remove toxins before use in a slow cooker.
