Operation Manual

Thank you for purchasing SANWA 2.4 GHz Receiver “RX-492”. This product manual explains correct uses, safe uses, and product notifications. Please read the manual and follow the steps and cautions before using it. If you read the manual, please keep it whenever you need to read it.

PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS

  • RX-492 (2.4 GHz spread spectrum transmission system receiver) is for compatible FH5/FH5U transmitters. Other AM/FM/2.4 GHz transmitters cannot use.

  • RX-492 designs for 1/10 scale Electric RC model cars or below. Please do not use RX-492 for Nitro Car or bigger than 1/10 scale.

  • To combine with devices compatible with SSL can be changed the setting by the transmitter CODE AUX function.

  • Analog Servos is not compatible with SXR, SUR, SSR, SHR mode. Must use analog servos by NOR mode.
    If using analog servos by SXR, SUR, SSR, SHR mode, the analog servos will be broken. (Analog Servos: Hyper ERG series, RS-995, SZ-165T, SPEC series)

  • BL-RACER, BL-FORCE, BL-SPORT, F3300, F3000, F2200, SBL-01/02/03CR cannot work by SXR, SUR, SSR, and SHR mode. Must use ESC by NOR mode.

  • 2..4 GHz frequency band is not only for Radio Control. This frequency band is the same as ISM (industrial, scientific, and medical device) uses. There are some possibilities of interfering with the other devices as Microwave, wireless Lan, digital cordless phone, audio device, gaming device, and VICS. Also, amateur radio uses the same frequency band. Please take care of interfering with another device. In case of interfering to the radio station, please stop using and avoid the interference.

  • Please check safe use and limit to use devices are possible to interfere in an RC circuit. Also, please follow instruction from the facility manager.

  • In case of running behind the building and steel tower, the transmission would be decline or out of control. Please always operate invisible situations.

  • Radio Law depends on each country. Imported transmitters or receiver from another country might be illegal.

*Each channel port is developed by the SANWA connector.
Please take care when using another manufacturer’s connector.
In case of plugging in another connector forcefully, it will be caused case broken or Poor connection.

SSL SYSTEM

  • To combine with devices compatible with SSL can be changed the setting by the transmitter CODE AUX function.
  • In case of using CODE AUX, please change AUX TYPE is [NOR] to [CODE5 or CODE10] in System. Choosing CODE5 or CODE10 depends on the device which is compatible with CODE5 or CODE10.
  • About CODE AUX, please refer SSL system explanation on our HP. (www.sanwa-denshi.com)

HOW TO MOUNT TO 1/10 Scale EP CAR or below scales

When mounting on the car chassis, please place the receiver vertically as in the below picture.
Any other methods might be affected to receiver performance.

Mount the receiver on the chassis and place the “TOP” indication upward.

HOW TO WIRE CABLES WITH RECEIVER

When wiring cables of Electric Speed Controller, Motor, or Battery, please do not cover on receiver top.
It might be affected receiver performance.

HOW TO MOUNT TO 1/10 Scale EP CAR or below scales (Another Case)

Mounting RX-492 as below picture in case receiver cannot place “TOP” indicator upward due to body height.

 HOW TO USE CABLE COVER

If feeling declined radio wave or no signal even if placed correctly, please place the receiver on cable cover.
Receiver sensibility would be greater by higher position.

○Wired cables go through into the cable cover. It would be easy to install a cable cover with the receiver as in the below picture.

How to Bind with Transmitter

  • About BIND: each 2.4GHz transmitter has an ID Number. The bind is tied ID Number with the receiver.
    If a receiver bind with a transmitter, the receiver will be worked by the transmitter.
  1. Please set [RF mode] is [FH5/FH5U] in Transmitter System (Compatible with FH5/FH5U as M17)

  2. Turn on the transmitter, and set for other devices as response mode. Then, enter [BIND] to be bind mode.

  3. Connect BIND plugin RX-492 BIND/SSL port. Then, turn on the receiver.
    *When you bind the transmitter with the receiver, please connect the battery an empty port. (In case of EP car, speed controller connect in CH2 port)

  4. After RX-492 LED will be changed fast flashing blue from slow flashing blue, please take off the BIND plug and restart RX-492 (Turn off the receiver, then turn on).
    In case of binding with the second transmitter, the blue light will be blinking every 0.2 seconds.

  5. Please finish BIND mode on the transmitter to use enter/back operation by the touchpad. In the case of binding with the transmitter, the LED on the receiver turns blue.
    Please operate the device as a servo to check BIND is completed.

  • In case of turning off LED in the processor did not complete the BIND setting, please reset binding form 2. in the binding process.

*Did not connect anything above picture but please connect the device as servos or FET speed controller (except motor) when you bind.

  • About RX-492

RX-492 can store 2 transmitter ID Numbers. It is able to combine using individual transmitters which is a different setting in an endurance race.
If you bind with 2 different transmitters, the receiver store the different transmitter and can operate by transmitters without re-bind.
CANNOT operate by the 2 different transmitters at the same time. 2 ID store system is only compatible with M17.
– Throttle neutral position or operation quantities might be different for each transmitter. Please adjust each transmitter setting to fit the chassis linkage.
– MUST set the fail-safe setting on each transmitter.
– Please set the same RF mode, response mode, and safety link number as 1st transmitter when you bind 2nd transmitter. If it was a different mode, cannot bind with 2 transmitters.
If the 2nd transmitter was different RF mode, response mode, and safety link number from 1st transmitter, 1st transmitter ID No. is deleted and only write 2nd transmitter.
*If you bound 3rd transmitter, 1st transmitter ID No. will be deleted.

WARNING

  • Default is not bound with the transmitter. Please bind with the transmitter before using.
  • MUST use the receiver with a bound transmitter.

PRECAUTION FOR SAFE USE

  • Please mount the antenna area of the receiver as high as possible in your model.
  • Please place the receiver apart from the motor, metal parts, carbon parts, and FET Speed Controller (include leads).
  • Please place the “TOP” indication on the receiver head upward.
  • Please check surely connection devices as servos and switch with the receiver. In case of losing connection during running, it is possible to be out of control.
  • The receiver is weak in extreme vibration, shock, and water. Please take care of vibration, shock, and water.
  • Please mount the receiver apart from carbon and metal chassis. Also, please avoid mounting on the center of the chassis.
  • Metal-to-metal contact in your model will generate to noise. It will interfere the receiver’s ability and is possible to be out of control.
  • Please take a noise killer condenser to brushless motor for the RC car. If not taking noise killer condenser to brushless motor for RC car, the noise will be generated. It is possible to be out of control.
  • Please use the transmitter, servos, FET speed controller made by SANWA.
    *In the case of combining to use with devices except for SANWA devices, we could not take responsibility for any failures.

WARRANTY AND SERVICE INFORMATION

Your RX-492 is warranted against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship.
This warranty does not cover suitability for specific applications, components worn by use or improper voltage, tampering, modification, misuse, abuse, improper wiring, reverse polarity, moisture damage, or acts of Gods.
