Regulations
-
If the heater is operated while driving, a safety shut-off device must be installed to prevent an uncontrolled escape of LPG in the event of an accident (according to UN ECE regulation 122).
If no safety shut-off device is installed, you can connect the D+ signal to the heater to prevent any operation while driving. -
The installation of the device in vehicles must comply with the technical and administrative regulations of the respective country of use (e.g. EN 1949).
The national legislation and regulations (e.g. DVGW Work Sheet G 607 for vehicles in Germany) must be observed.
Notes on installation location
WARNING! Risk of suffocation
The cowl must be positioned in such a way that exhaust gases cannot enter the
interior.
- Never run the exhaust duct outwards on the underside of the vehicle. Always run the exhaust duct to the side using a side cowl.
- Observe the notes given in fig. 4, page 3 to fig. 6, page 3.
- Observe the notes given in fig. 4, page 3 to fig. c, page 4.
- Choose a place that is easily accessible for servicing as well as installing and disassembling.
- Do not place the device on or above heat-sensitive materials.
- Before installing the device, check whether any vehicle components could be damaged by the installation of the device (such as lamps, cupboards, doors).
- For safety reasons, note the location of existing wiring harnesses, wires and other components within the installation area, in particular those which are not visible, when installing the device (when drilling or screwing etc.).
- If the cowl is installed under a window that can be opened, an electric window switch must be installed.
- Make sure that the air drawn in by the device cannot be contaminated by vehicle exhaust gases or by exhaust gases from the device.
- The safety and drain valve must be installed directly beside the device. It must be placed below the cold water connection. It must be easily accessible for operation.
Notes on connection to the water supply
- Only install the heater in a water cycle which contains a pressure pump with pressure regulator.
Notes on water hoses, gas pipes and warm air and exhaust ducts
- The hoses, pipes and ducts must be routed in such a way that the device is easy to remove for service work.
- To ensure the correct function, pipes and ducts must be laid tension-free and as short as possible.
- Do not crush or kink pipes and ducts.
- Warm air ducts and exhaust ducts might warm up the environment. Make sure that there is no material in contact with the warm air ducts which suffers from heat. Keep a distance of least 10 mm.
- The water hoses for connecting to the boiler and the safety and drain valve must be safe for drinking water, pressure resistant up to 4.5 bar and hot water-resistant up to +80 °C.
Notes on connection to the gas supply
- Check the compatibility of the data plate information with the gas sup-ply requirements of the vehicle.
Notes on electrical system
- Only a qualified electrician should connect the device to the electrical power.
- Check that the voltage specification on the data plate is the same as that of the power supply.
- Do not lay cables which are loose or bent next to electrically conductive material (metal).
- Protect cables from sharp edges.
- CH4000E, CH6000E only: Install an all-pole switch with a contact opening width of at least 3 mm on the installation side for the AC supply (230 V).
- If the device is powered by the mains (CH4000E, CH6000E only): ensure that the AC voltage supply has a residual current circuit breaker.
Notes on connection with a solar system
NOTICE! Risk of damage
The electronic of the device can be damaged by an irregular voltage supply
from the solar system. Always use a voltage regulator or a battery with
charger regulator between the device and the solar panel according to EN 1648.

AC (230 V) supply.
- Replace broken DC fuses according to fig. w, page 8. Only use fuses with the same value.
Cleaning and maintaining
- Clean the device according to fig. x, page 8.
- Never use detergents containing chlorine for cleaning and disinfection.
- perform self-cleaning once a week: see chapter “Self-cleaning” on page 11.
- If side cowl is positioned below a window: Check window switch operation as a pre trip or seasonal check.
- Check regularly, especially after long journeys, that the cowl and the exhaust duct are intact and correctly fixed.
- Operate the safety and drain valve regularly, at least twice a year, to remove limescale deposits and ensure proper function.
- Have the heater, its gas supply and ducting for the products of combustion checked by an expert in accordance with national regulations (e.g. in Germany every 2 years). If no national regulations exist that should be done at least every 2 years. The inspection must be certified on a test certificate (e.g. DVGW Work Sheet G 607 for vehicles in Germany).
Self-cleaning
To clean the system against bacteria operate the heater for a few minutes at
the highest temperature level for self-cleaning:
- Set room temperature to max. value.
- Choose auto mode for air heating.
- Choose hot mode for water heating.
Troubleshooting
Firmware version
- Read out the firmware versions of the display (HMI) and of the heater according to fig. y, page 8.
Default routine for troubleshooting
Only execute the default routine if it is proposed in the error code table.
- Wait 3 minutes, then restart.
- If the heater does not operate properly contact the manufacturer‘s support.
Contacting the manufacturer‘s support
