Installation Guidelines
Bose AMS subwoofers include threaded inserts to accommodate suspension methods
as described in this document.
Unsafe overhead suspension of any heavy load can result in serious injury or
death and property damage. It is the installer’s responsibility to evaluate
the reliability of any suspension method used for their application. Only
professional installers with the knowledge of proper hardware and safe
suspension techniques should attempt to install any loudspeaker or subwoofer
overhead.
If you are using a custom-designed suspension system, have a licensed
professional engineer review the design and planned method of attachment to
the building structure for structural integrity and safety in the intended
application.
Choose fasteners that are consistent with all local building codes and requirements to support the weight of the subwoofer.
- Use only fasteners/hardware of Class 8 or greater.
- Do not use unmarked machine fasteners for mounting system assemblies as there is no way to determine their physical
- Use only M10 fasteners for the M10 threaded inserts on the Although SAE 3/8″–16 fasteners are similar, they are not interchangeable with M10 fasteners.
- Do not over-tighten Doing so may irreparably damage the cabinet and create an unsafe assembly.
- Make sure fasteners are long enough to engage at least 8 threads of the attachment point. Using a fastener that is engaged with fewer than 8 threads will result in inadequate support of the subwoofer, which may strip the threads and create an unsafe
- Do not alter or re-thread the threaded attachment points to accommodate any other thread size or Doing so will compromise the safety of the installation and permanently damage the subwoofer.
- For a vibration-resistant assembly, use a locking compound intended for hand disassembly (such as Loctite® 242®).
Do not use the subwoofer handles to suspend the subwoofer.
Do not suspend additional loudspeakers or other items from the Bose AMS
subwoofer.
Suspension

the four M10 threaded attachment points on the top or side panel of the
subwoofer. Use only load-rated eye bolts intended for lifting (per ASME

If you are using a custom-designed suspension system or hardware, a licensed
professional engineer must review the design and fabrication. Obtain all
suspension system components from reputable manufacturers.
