FS IES5100-24TF L3 Managed Industrial Switch
Introduction
Thank you for choosing IES5100-24TF Managed Switch. This guide is designed to familiarize you with the layout of the switch and describe how to deploy the switch in your network.
Accessories
NOTE : IES5100-24TF switch has dust plugs delivered with it. Keep the dust plugs properly and use them to protect idle ports.

Front Panel LEDs
LEDs | Status | Description |
---|
PWR1/PWR2
| On| Power is being supplied to power input.
Off| Power is not being supplied to power input.
SYSTEM
| On| System is booting.
Blinking| System is initialized and operating in good condition.
Off| No supply voltage or the system is not ready for operation.
RJ45/SFP
| Solid on| The port is connected to a device, but no data is being
transmitted through the port.
Blinking| The port is connected to a device and data is being transmitted
through the port.
Off| The port is not connected or is not connected properly.
Installation Requirements
Before the installation, make sure that you have the following:
- Workstations running Windows XP/2003/Vista/7/8/10/2008, MAC OS X or later, Linux, UNIX, or other platforms that are compatible with TCP/IP protocols.
- Workstations installed with Ethernet NIC (Network Interface Card).
- Serial Port Connection (Terminal) The above Workstations come with COM Port (DB9) or USB-to-RS232 converter.
- Ethernet Port Connection Network cables — Use standard network (UTP) cables with RJ45 connectors. The above PC is installed with Web browser.
NOTE : It is recommended to use Internet Explorer 8.0 or above to access the switch. If the web interface of the Industrial Managed Switch is not accessible, please turn off the anti-virus software or firewall and then try it again.
Mounting the Switch
Desk Mounting
- Attach four rubber pads to the bottom.
- Place the chassis on a desk.
Rack Mounting
- Secure the mounting brackets to the two sides of the switch with supplied M3 screws.
- Attach the switch to the rack using the screws and tighten it.
Grounding the Switch
Grounding and wire routing help limit the effects of noise due to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Run the ground connection from the ground screw to the grounding surface prior to connecting devices.
NOTE : This product is intended to be mounted to a well-grounded mounting surface such as a metal panel. 5
Connecting the Power
The Front Panel of the switch indicates an AC/DC inlet power socket and
consists of one terminal block connector within 5 contacts. Please follow the
steps below to insert the power wire. Press the orange button with your hand
or a flat-blade screwdriver.

Insert positive/negative AC/DC power wires into Contacts + and – for Power 1 and Power 2, then release the button.

NOTE : The wire gauge for the terminal block should be in the range
Connecting the RJ45 Ports
- Connect an Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port of a computer, printer, network network devices.
- Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port of the switch.
Connecting the SFP Ports
- Plug the compatible SFP transceiver into the SFP port.
- Connect a fiber optic cable to the fiber transceiver. Then connect the other end of the cable to
Connecting the Console Port
- Insert the RJ45 connector into the RJ45 console port on the front panel of the switch.
- Connect the DB9 female connector of the console cable to RS-232 serial port on the computer.
Configuring the Switch
Configuring the Switch Using the Web-based Interface
Step 1 : Connect the computer to any RJ45 port of the switch using the
network cable.
Step 2: Set the IP address of the computer to 192.168.1.x (“x” is any
number from 2 to 255).
Step 3 : Open a web browser, enter the default IP address of the switch
192.168.1.1, and enter the default username and password, admin/admin.
Step 4 : Click Login to display the web-based configuration page.
Configuring the Switch Using the Console Port
Step 1 : Connect a computer to the switch’s console port using the
console cable.
Step 2 : Start the terminal simulation software such as HyperTerminal on
the computer.
Step 3 : Set the parameters of the HyperTerminal: 115200 bits per second
8 data bits no parity 1 stop bit no flow control.
Step 4 : After setting the parameters, click Connect to enter
Troubleshooting
100M/1G Port is not Working
- Ensure the optical module and cable have no problem.
- Check if the configuration at both ends of the communication device is auto or forced rate.
Failed to Connect to the Switch Remotely
- Test network connectivity through ping.
- If the network is reachable, try restarting the switch.
- Check if the corresponding service is enabled.
The Port is not Working, and the LED Indicator is Off
- Ensure the switch ports are in the open state.
- Check if the switch can read the DDM information.
- Check if the port speed setting is correct.
- Try looping the switch cable.
RJ45 port is not in connectivity or it is erroneous in receiving/transmitting frames
- Replace the twisted pair cable.
- Check that the port configuration has the common working mode with the connected switch.
