SCHWAIGER Energy Cost Meter with Separate Display
Congratulations and thank you for purchasing this Schwaiger product. This user guide is designed to help you use and operate the device. Read through the instructions for use carefully. Store this manual safely throughout the product‘s entire service life and pass it on to any subsequent users or owners. Check that the supplied package is complete and ensure that none of the parts are defective or damaged.
Intended use
The product serves as an energy cost meter for suitable electrical appliances in dry indoor areas. It records the electrical energy consumption at the monitored socket of the connected device. On the separate display, which is connected to the measuring device via cable, the costs incurred, the current power consumption, voltage, current strength, and CO2 emissions can be displayed. The maximum power of the Schuko socket is 3680 watts. The product is not intended for commercial or other use.
General safety and maintenance instructions
WARNING
- This product is intended for private, non-commercial household use.
- This product is an electronic product that must be kept away from children.
- This product is not a toy! Therefore, keep it out of the reach of children.
- The safety light can become damaged if handled incorrectly.
- Do not drop the product or expose it to strong shocks.
- Never expose the product to high temperatures or extreme cold.
- Only connect the product if the mains voltage of the socket matches the information on the type plate.
- Never exceed the permissible maximum load capacity of the socket (max. 3680 W).
- Stop using the lamp if plastic components become cracked, broken or warped.
- Protect the product from moisture, water, rain, snow or drizzle and use the product only in dry environments.
- Do not disassemble the product into its individual parts. Incorrect assembly can cause electric shocks or malfunctions.
- Do not place burning candles or other open flames on or near the product.
- Do not use the product near heat sources such as radiators or other heat emitting devices.
- The entire product must not become damp or wet, never touch it with wet hands!
- Never place the product in the immediate vicinity of a bath, shower, bathtub or similar. There is a risk of fatal electric shock!
- When not using the product, unplug it from the wall outlet.

There are dangers for children and persons with reduced physical, sensory
or mental abilities (e.g. partially disabled persons, elderly persons with
limited physical and mental abilities) or lack of experience and knowledge
(e.g. older children).
WARNING Fire hazard!
Faulty electrical installation or excessive mains voltage can lead to electric
shock.
- Never operate the meter covered.
- Make sure that there are no clothes or other objects on the meter.
- Place the meter so that no heat can build up from adjacent objects or furniture.
- Keep the meter away from easily flammable materials and objects.
- Do not use the meter in areas where there is a risk of explosion or fire.
CAUTION : The product is switched off only when the mains plug is disconnected!

Basic functions
NOTE
Please check whether the product is damaged before putting it into operation.

Display
Line 1: Display of costs, consumption, voltage, current consumption, CO2

Button assignment
- MODE (2) Press the MODE button to select between the different display modes: Cost, power in KW, voltage in V, current consumption in A, CO2 emission
- UP (3) Press the UP button to set higher values. This is possible to set higher prices in CO2 mode as well as when setting the date. Press and hold the UP button for two seconds to scroll through the values faster. In normal display mode you can switch between 12- and 24-hour display.
- TOTAL (4) Press the TOTAL button to select the period between week, month and year. You can also use this button to set lower values. This is possible to set lower prices in CO2 mode as well as when setting the date. Press and hold the TOTAL button for two seconds to scroll through the values faster.
- SET (5) Briefly press the SET button to set the time and date. Press the SET button again to confirm the settings and move to the next option. Press and hold the SET button to set the electricity cost or CO2 emissions. Press the SET button again to confirm the settings and move to the next option.
- RESET (6) Press and hold the RESET button to clear and restart all settings.
A rechargeable, non-replaceable battery is installed in the display. Connect the device to the mains for at least approx. 2 hours to charge it. In this way, the device can save the measured data even if it is disconnected from the power supply for a short time.
Reset
Press RESET (6). The complete display will light up for 3 seconds, after which
you will enter the normal display mode. All settings will be taken as default.
Setting time and date
Briefly press SET (5) to enter the time and date setting. The set mode will
now flash. Press TOTAL (4) or UP (3) to set the time and date. You can now set
the date and time in the following order: Year > Date format (month/day or
day/month) > Month > Day > Hour > Minute > Exit mode
Display modes
There is a total of 5 different display modes: Cost, power in KW, voltage in
V, current consumption in A, CO2 emission. Press MODE (2) to switch between
the different modes.
- In normal display mode, the individual costs are displayed in the first line. By pressing MODE (2) you can switch between cost, consumption, voltage, current consumption and CO2 emission.
- The second line shows the sum of the costs per week / month / year based on the extrapolated first line. Press TOTAL (4) to switch between the sum per week / month / year.
- The date and time are automatically displayed alternately in the third line.
- To delete all current totals, press and hold UP (3) and TOTAL (4) simultaneously for 2 seconds. Both the weekly /monthly / annual total of electricity consumption and CO2 emissions will be reset to 0.
Cost Mode
- There are two different cost settings, PRICE 1 and PRICE 2, which can take different billing tariffs at different times into account
- PRICE 1 is the basic charge. If PRICE 1 is set to 0.00, PRICE 2 is also set to 0.00 automatically.
- In normal display mode, press SET (5) for 2 seconds to enter input mode. Chose the monetary unit Pound (£), Euro (€) or Dollar ($) first by pressing UP (3) and TOTAL (4).
- Then press SET again (5) so that PRICE 1 flashes. Press SET (5) again so that the weekdays flash at the bottom of the display. Use TOTAL (4) and UP (3) to set the desired week period for which price 1 is to apply.
- Then press SET again (5) until the hour display for the start of the billing period for price 1 flashes.
- Set the desired start with TOTAL (4) and UP (3). First you can set the hours and confirm with SET (5), then the minutes and also confirm with SET (5).
- The cost display will then start flashing at the top of the display. The first line shows “SET/COST”. The first digit of the cost display flashes. Set it with TOTAL (4) and UP (3).
- Then press SET (5) again so that the second digit flashes. Set it again with TOTAL (4) and UP (3).
- Then press SET (5) again so that the last digit flashes. Also set it with TOTAL (4) and UP (3).
- Finally, press SET (5) so that the decimal point flashes. You can also move it with TOTAL (4) and UP (3).
If you only want to set one tariff, set the time period to 7 days and the start to 0:00 hours. To set a second tariff, press SET (5) again to enter the second tariff setting mode. This is set in the same way as tariff 1. Make sure, however, that there is no time overlap between the two set tariffs.
Setting the CO2 emissions
- Once all costs have been entered, press SET (5) again to go to the CO2 emission setting.
- This value can be obtained from your energy supplier.
- In the display you can now read “SET CO2” in the first line.
- Set the unit of measurement (kg) with TOTAL (4) and UP (3).
- Press SET (5) again to enter the data. The first digit starts flashing.
- Now set the first digit with TOTAL (4) and UP (3).
- Then press SET (5) again. The second digit starts flashing, which you can adjust again with TOTAL (4) and UP (3).
- Then press SET again (5). The last digit starts flashing, which can also be set with TOTAL (4) and UP (3).
- Finally, press SET again (5) to return to the normal display mode.
Each setting mode is automatically cancelled after 30 seconds if you do not make any settings.

Cleaning and maintenance
This product is maintenance free, and the lamp is not replaceable. You must disconnect the device from the mains socket before cleaning. Ensure that no liquids get into the product while you are cleaning it. The use of solvent- containing or aggressive cleaning agents as well as alcohol or thinners is prohibited as it could damage the coating or the surface of the product. You should therefore clean the product with a lint-free, ever so slightly damp soft cloth only.
Disposal
The product is delivered in packaging made of recyclable materials to protect
against damage during transport. Sort and dispose of these materials in the
designated containers. Ask your local disposal company or local council about
how to dispose of the product in an environmentally correct way. Do not
dispose of batteries or electric and electronic devices in the normal
household waste. The consumer is legally obliged to return electrical and
electronic devices, and batteries that are at the end of their useful life to
the point of sale or public collection points that have been set up for this
purpose. Legislation in the country of use stipulate the specific requirements
regarding dis- posal. The symbol on the product, the user guide or the
packaging indicates this legal requirement.
