  • Have the chimney cleaned regularly, in compliance with local legislation and regulations required by law. If there is no legislation and/or standards: make sure that the entire stove-flue pipe-chimney system is checked and cleaned by an authorised technician at least twice a year (once at the beginning of the winter season). If the stove is used continuously and intensively, the entire system, including the chimney, must be cleaned more frequently.

  • Do not use the stove as a barbecue

Connect only one wood burning stove per flue pipe. Connecting several stoves to the same flue pipe can give rise to hazardous situations.

This stove requires an electrical connection. Read the following warnings and observations carefully:

  • Do not use a damaged electric cable.
  • A damaged electric cable must be replaced by the supplier or by authorised personnel/repair centre.
  • Do not block or bend the cable.
  • Make sure that the electric cable does not come into contact with any hot parts of the stove.
  • DO NOT use an extension cable to connect the stove. If you do not have a grounded socket, call an electrician to request installation.
  • Check the electric power supply. This de- vice must only be connected to an earthed 4 socket – voltage 230 V / ~ 50 Hz

The device MUST always be connected to a grounded socket. It is forbidden to connect the device to an unearthed socket.

  • The plug must be easily accessible once the device has been connected.
  • Do not place the appliance directly under a wall mounted socket

Before connecting the device, make sure that:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FLUE PIPE/CHIMNEY

The chimney/flue pipe is a very important part of the system.
This chapter deals with the minimum requirements that the chimney/flue pipe for the pellet stove must meet to ensure the stove works properly.

Comply with the rules, provisions, regulations and legislation in force at local/national level. If the installation instructions contained in this manual deviate from the current legislation at local, national and/or regional level, the latter is prevalent.

The manufacturer and distributor expressly disclaim any liability in the event that:

  • Installation fails to comply with national/local legislation.
  • If national/local legislation is not applicable, the minimum system requirements described in this document may not need to be complied with.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS THAT THE CHIMNEY MUST MEET

  1. Only one device can be connected to the fireplace. Do not connect multiple appliances to a single chimney. Never connect two stoves, a suction hood and a stove, a second chimney, etc. to a single chimney. See Figure 7.
    Connected to the fireplace

  2. Use only approved installation material when installing the chimney. The pellet stove’s chimney must be heat-resistant (minimum 450° C). Consult the rules, regulations, and local/national legislation governing the requirements of materials for chimney installation.

  3. The chimney and its outlet must be positioned at a sufficient distance from combustible and inflammable materials. Consult the rules, regulations, and local/national legislation governing the requirements for these materials.

  4. The stove must be connected to a chimney with a diameter that conforms to the specifications in Table 1 of this installation manual. Use of a chimney with a larger diameter that does not exceed 150 mm is permitted, provided that it conforms with the indicated foced draught.

  5. Refer to the local /national provisions, regulations, and legislation in order to verify the possibility of positioning the draught valve in the chimney channel.

  6. Do not install electric cables down the chimney or near it.

  7. The fireplace must be smoke-tight.

  8. The chimney must be vertically installed in such a way that no flue gas blocks occur. If, however, a part of the chimney needs to be horizontally installed, the length of the horizontal part should be no more than 2 m and must slope by at least 5° in the direction of the combustion gas exhaust pipe. See table 1.

  9. See table 1 for an overview of the number of curves and T-joints, the length of the chimney and the internal diameter of the pipes to be used in the flue pipe.

  10. We recommend fitting a T-piece with an inspection hatch on the underside directly on the stove connection channel. Should a horizontal part be fitted on the stove connection channel, immediately after this horizontal part, we recommend fitting a T-piece with an inspection hatch on the lower side. Any condensation or solids will be collected in this T-joint and can removed by opening the inspection hatch. The inspection hatch must be smoke and water tight.

  11. The chimney outlet must be equipped with an approved cover.

  12. The fireplace and stove must be easily accessible for inspection and cleaning purposes.

  13. The stove cannot be used to support the chimney/flue pipe.

  14. If an existing flue pipe/chimney is used, it must be cleaned by an authorised chimney cleaning company before installing the stove. The presence of soot and combustion residue can reduce the flow up an existing flue pipe/ chimney and cause the stove to malfunction. The accumulation of soot and other foreign bodies can trigger hazardous situations. If an existing flue pipe/chimney has a diameter in excess of 150 mm, it must be adapted to suit a pellet stove by fitting a pipe inside the existing chimney. Please note: Have the existing chimney checked by an authorised chimney maintenance company in order to verify its suitability for the combustion of solid fuel such as pellets.

  15. The chimney draught must be 11Pa (plus or minus 1 Pa). This draught should
be measured when the chimney is hot. Poor draught can lead to dangerous
situations because the flue gases can spread into the room.

  16. Never place a flue gas fan inside or above the flue gas/chimney channel. The stove is already equipped with a cat back exhaust fan. An additional fan inside or above the channel may impede proper functioning of the stove.

  17. A chimney or a part of it fitted outside the house must have a double wall. See Figure 8. A single-wall pipe can be used inside the house.

Table 1: Overview of the chimney/flue channel dimensions.

If more than one curve or T-joint is installed in the chimney, for each additional element the maximum vertical height must be reduced by 1m.

Sample:

A T-joint and two 90° bends is fitted in a chimney with an internal diameter of 80 mm. Therefore, the chimney has a maximum height of 5 m, although the table shows that the chimney channel with a T-joint can reach a maximum height of 7 m. Two additional curves are fitted in such a way that the chimney is 2 m lower, therefore 7 m – 2 m = 5 m

CONNECTION POINT BETWEEN THE CHIMNEY AND

STOVE

The chimney can be connected to the 80 mm pipe on the back of the stove (see the pipe circled in figure 10). Ensure that the pipe is connected in such a way that no smoke can escape. See chapter 4 for requirements of the chimney and materials to be used.

CONNECTION OF THE COMBUSTION AIR PIPE

  • Make sure that the position of the fresh air inlet always complies with local legislation!
  • Make sure that the fresh air inlet for combustion gas is covered, for example, by a grille that prevents accessing it.

Connect a 50 mm rubber pipe or similar conduit to the combustion air inlet at the back of the stove, see figure 11. The other end of this rubber pipe or similar channel must draw in clean air from the outside. See figures 8 and from 9A to 9E.|

Always ensure that the combustion air duct can draw clean air from the outside

COMPULSORY ROOM VENTILATION WHEN USING THE STOVE

The stove cannot be used if an air suction system, a hot air heating system or other appliances that affect the air pressure in the room, are used. Such equipment must be disconnected.

Make sure the room is sufficiently ventilated with fresh air. An additional 50 m³ of air is required every hour, over and above the normal room ventilation requirement. Ventilation openings must be near the floor. Choose the location carefully. The ventilation openings must not be blocked (neither inside nor outside). Ensure that there is an opening for fresh air in the room with a section of at least a quarter of the exhaust pipe section, with a minimum of 100 cm². If the stove is located in rooms with mechanical ventilation, the following guidelines apply.

Mechanical ventilation capacity  [m3/h]| Additional ventilation section required cm2
---|---
50| 140
50 – 100| 280
101 – 150| 420

POSITION THE UNIT

Never install the unit or carry out maintenance work on it if it is plugged into the mains socket. Always make sure that the stove is disconnected from the mains!

  1. When it comes to the final positioning of the stove, make sure that the floor is sufficiently solid in order to support its weight. Please note: the weight of the stove is divided across the four support feet. If necessary, reinforce the floor.

  2. Adjust the support feet to level the horizontal positioning of the stove. Use a spirit level to do this. Make sure that all four feet sit on the floor with the same force.

  3. When, take into consideration a free distance between the stove and the walls or other obstacles as indicated in figure 12. If the walls or objects around the stove are made of flammable materials, make sure that they do not exceed 60° C when the stove is at maximum. If in doubt, fit a flame-retardant protection plate on the walls or move the objects.
    Positioning the stove

  4. The stove is designed for free installation and is unsuitable for flush mounting.

  5. Make sure that the grille from which the heated air comes out is free and unobstructed.

  6. Make sure that the return air intake grille is not blocked.

  7. If the floor is made of flammable material, the stove must be placed on a fire-resistant slab. The dimensions of this slab must be greater than 40 cm at the front and sides, and 20 cm at the back compared to the perimeter of the stove.

  8. Position the stove in such a way that it can easily be accessed  for maintenance purposes.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

This stove requires an electricity supply. Carefully read the instructions below. The stove can only be connected to the mains when all other installation operations have been completed. Read chapter 3 and 3.1 of the user manual before connecting the stove to the mains.

  1. Make sure that the mains voltage matches that of the device indicated on the type plate.

  2. Use only a grounded socket. In its absence, a grounded socket must be installed by an authorised installer.

  3. Do not use an extension cable to connect the stove. In the absence of a grounded socket, it must be installed by an authorised installer.

  4. Make sure that the extension cable does not come into contact with hot parts of the stove.

  5. A part of the extension cable supplied must be connected to the stove, see figure 13.
    Cable supplied

  6. Make sure the extension cable plug fits in the socket.

  7. Before inserting the plug into the socket, make sure that the socket and the connection cable are intact.

  8. Make sure that the power switch at the back of the stove is turned OFF.

  9. Make sure that the plug is easily accessible so that it can be disconnected quickly and easily from the socket for maintenance purposes, or in an emergency.

  10. Do not attach the cable.

Any damaged power cord or plug should only be replaced by the supplier, a competent technician or an authorised service technician.
