Introduction

The premium series of Maksutov-Cassegrain telescopes from Sky-Watcher offers the ideal balance of aperture and portability. This particular telescope model is known for its clear, high-contrast images, which are perfect for planetary observation. As an alternative to Schmidt-Cassegrain and Newtonian telescopes, Maksutov-Cassegrain telescopes provide astronomers with a big viewing aperture, strong contrast, and long focal length in a portable design. Due to a focal length that is 5-7 times greater on Maksutov telescopes, which increases overall magnification, they provide more planetary information than other telescopes. A meniscus-shaped corrector plate is also used in Maksutov- Cassegrain, which ensures a flat visual plane throughout the whole field of view. Our Maksutov series telescopes offer refractor-like vistas and improved contrast at a fraction of the cost while enabling larger apertures.

You’ll gain from Sky-commitment Watcher’s to high-quality optics by using unmatched lens elements and reflecting mirrors. A borosilicate primary mirror with an aluminum coating and a quartz topcoat is used in our Maksutov series to produce 94% reflectivity. By using our patented Metallic High-Transmission Coatings (MHTC), the corrector plate provides visual astronomers with professional-grade optics and a distinctive viewing experience. Sky-Watcher Maksutov is excellent optical tubes for imaging planetary, lunar, or solar systems in addition to their aesthetic advantages (with use of a solar filter). The Sky-Watcher Maksutov have extraordinarily long focal lengths, which are crucial for imaging planetary detail, for astronomers seeking to begin astrophotography. Without the use of a Barlow lens or other devices that can lengthen exposure times, this offers a larger image scale.

User Instructions

Look through the eyepiece of your telescope after manually aiming it as best you can at the target. Ideally, the target will be in the field of view, but if it isn’t, use the slow motion control dials or knobs on your telescope’s mount to adjust until the object is in the center of the eyepiece.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does this telescope have a GPS built in, and if not, can one be attached?****

GPS is only used by the mount that optical tubes are attached to.

Is carry bag included, right?****

There is no carrying bag or case included with the Sky Watcher Sky Max 102 Maksutov telescope (S1151). For the majority of telescope tubes, cases and covers does provide watertight, padded nylon bags.

Does it match EQ5?****

It will indeed function on an EQ5.

Would the image be reversed if this was displayed on a mountaintop overlooking a valley below?****

No, it will be mirrored.

Can you use the 180 model at f15 for deep sky? Can you use a telecompressor?****

It can be used, however brighter items should be used instead. To accelerate it, use a Celestron 0.63x reducer.

Does a tripod come with this?****

There isn’t.

It’s a six-inch telescope, right?****

Yes, this telescope has a 6″ diameter.

Is Sky-Watcher a good telescope?****

It is an inexpensive but visually remarkable Newtonian reflector. With this scope, you’ll see numerous solar system objects, including double stars and deep sky targets, and you’ll get excellent views of the Moon and planets.

Who makes Sky-Watcher telescopes?****

The Synta Technology Corporation of Taiwan (Synta Taiwan) founded Sky-Watcher in 1999 as a commercial distribution company with a focus on the amateur astronomy sector. Sky-Watcher sells telescopes and astronomical equipment such mounts and eyepieces.

What size telescope is good for stargazing?****

The telescope can view fainter objects and can reveal more detail on nearby, bright objects like the Moon the larger its diameter. The planets, the Moon, and Jupiter’s moons may all be seen clearly via telescopes with a 4 or 5 inch aperture.

How big of a telescope do you need to see Saturn rings?****

Even the tiniest 25x telescope should be able to see Saturn’s rings. They can be seen as a distinct structure that is detached on all sides from the ball of the planet in a good 3-inch scope at 50x.

Are Orion and Sky-Watcher the same?****

In particular, the Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ5 or 6. Orion features mounts that are comparable to Sirius/Atlas AZ/EQ-G. With the exception of the paint job, they seem to be similar (and I am certain they are produced in the same Chinese factory), yet the Sky Watchers cost around $200 more.

Can a telescope see the flag on the moon?****

Yes, the flag is still on the moon, but a telescope won’t let you see it. In a press kit for the Apollo 16 mission, I discovered some data on the dimensions of lunar equipment. To see the flag, which is around 125 centimeters (4 feet) long, you would require an optical telescope with a diameter of 200 meters (650 feet).

What telescope can I see Jupiter with?****

For serious Jupiter watching, a well-built 5-inch or 6-inch reflector on a reliable tracking mount is basically the bare minimum. Larger tools will make it possible to examine minute details and delicate, low-contrast markings.

What magnification do you need to see Jupiter?****

You will need a magnification of around 180 to view planets like Jupiter and Saturn; with that, you should be able to see the planets and their moons. A magnification of roughly 380 is required if you wish to see the planet clearly by yourself.

Is it safe to look at stars through a telescope?****

The Sun is the only celestial body that might possibly cause harm. Welder’s glass filters, which are common in low-cost telescopes, screw into the eyepiece and should be avoided since they get very hot and can break suddenly.
