WHAT’S IN THE PACKAGE

IMPORTANT:

Please read carefully and save these instructions, as you may need them at a later date. When using electrical equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed as below.
READ AND FOLLOW BELOW SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS GENERAL:
All electrical connections must be in accordance with local and National Electrical Code (N.E.C) standards. LED Retrofit Kit installation requires knowledge of luminaire electrical systems. If you are unfamiliar with proper electrical wiring connections obtain the services of a qualified electrician.

  1. Do not make or alter any open holes in an enclosure of wiring or electrical components during kit installation.
  2. To prevent wiring damage or abrasion do not expose wiring to edges of sheet metal or other sharp objects.
  3. Suitable for wet locations.
  4. Supply conductors (power wires) connecting the fixture must be rated at a minimum of 90C. If uncertain, consult an electrician.
  5. This device is not intended for use with emergency exits.
  6. This device does not work with any kind of dimmer, please do not use them with dimmers.

PLACEMENT AND INSTALLATION

To-do list before installation :

  1. Thoroughly inspect the device for freight damage. Freight damage should be reported to the delivery carrier. Please read the whole user manual carefully at first.
  2. Make sure power is turned off at the source before installing the device.
  3. Please download and install the required App.

Install the Downlight

  1. Remove any existing trim prior to installation of this device.
  2. Screw the E26 base adapter included in the installation kit into the can.
  3. Connect the male connector of the E26 base adaptor with the female connector of the device.
  4. Arrange the wires, push the downlight into the standard recessed can, and anticlockwise rotate for secure installation.

NOTE: Be careful not to rotate the device once it’s pushed inside the can, because it may change the position of the aluminum tabs which in turn will not ensure a secured installation.

DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE APP
Use your phone to scan the QR code below or search ‘Smart Life in the application market to download and install the App.

ADD DEVICE

Ensure your fixture is installed properly and switched on.

  1. The fixture will start to blink as default when it is lit for the first time. Ensure the fixture is rapidly blinking (2 times per second).
  2. ‘Add Device’ or ‘+’, choose ‘Auto Scan’.
  3. A new device will pop out on the screen, with location and Bluetooth access needed.
  4. Select the devices and add the products by the instruction.

ADD DEVICE – ENTER WI-FI PASSWORD

  1. Select the Wi-Fi to which your phone is connected to.
  2. Please enter your Wi-Fi password and confirm the connection.

NETWORK CONNECTION PROCESS
If the fixture is connecting to the network, App shows as picture 2.
Once the fixture is successfully connected to the network, App shows as picture 3.
NOTE: If App can not discover the fixture automatically, please switch it On/Off 5 times by following: On-Off-On-Off-On until the fixture begins to blink quickly into reset mode. Then automatically add the fixture again. If the fixture stops blinking, please turn On/Off the fixture 5 times and repeat.

CONTROL DEVICE

  1. After the fixture is successfully connected, rename the fixture as you wish, then find the fixture on the home page of the Smart Life App.
  2. Click the fixture icon to have full control of the fixture.

NOTE:

  1. when a device is online, it supports shortcut operations on the fixture home page.
  2. When the device is offline, it displays ‘Offline and can’t be controlled.
  3. Multiple fixtures can be connected at one time and grouped easily.

REMARK:

  1. The pictures used in this manual are Android App interface, the iOS version is a bit different.
  2. Product and software update periodically, the number and App interface in this manual are only examples. No extra notification on further changes.

LINK SMART LIFE ACCOUNT TO ECHO

  1. Click ‘Skills & Games’ on the menu, and search ‘Smart Life. Select ‘Smart Life and click to ‘Enable the Smart Life skill.

  2. You will be redirected to the account link page. Input your Smart Life account and password, don’t forget to select the country/region. Click ‘Link Now’ to link your Smart Life account

  3. Discover devices Echo needs to discover your smart devices before controlling them. You can say ‘Alexa, discover devices’ to Echo.
    Echo will discover devices that have already been added to the Smart Life App. You can also click ‘Add Devices’ to find smart devices. Discovered devices will be displayed in the list. Note: every time you change the device name on Smart Life App, Echo must rediscover it before controlling them.

  4. Control Devices by Voice Commands
    Now you can control your smart devices through Echo. Speak to Echo as follows

  • Alexa, turn on/off the bedroom downlight.
  • Alexa set the bedroom downlight to 50 percent.
  • Alexa, brighten/increase the bedroom downlight.
  • Alexa, dim/decrease bedroom downlight.

LINK SMART LIFE ACCOUNT TO GOOGLE HOME

Make sure you have successfully set up Google Home.

  1. Click ‘+’ on the menu of the Google Home app home page, then click ‘Set up device’. Select ‘Works with Google’.

  2. Find ‘Smart Life’ in the list. Select your region, input your Smart Life account and password, then click ‘Link Now’. After you assign rooms for devices, your devices will be listed on the Home Control page.

  3. Control Your Smart Devices through Google Home Now you can control your smart devices through Google Home. The supported voice commands are as below:

  • OK Google, turn on/off the bedroom downlight.
  • OK Google, set bedroom downlight to 50 percent.
  • OK Google, brighten the bedroom downlight.
  • OK Google, dim bedroom downlight.
  • OK Google, set the bedroom downlight to red.
