This Quick Start Guide
Welcome
This quick start guide is designed to familiarize you with the features and
use of the Casa Systems Smart Antenna Tool.
The Smart Antenna Tool is a battery-powered tool which connects to the
alignment port on the back of a Casa Systems Outdoor Unit, providing power and
a wireless access point. The installer can then use a portable wireless
device, such as a laptop or tablet, to connect to the Outdoor Unit to read
signal strength data and align it in the optimal position.

1. Connector Protective Cap Protects the connector from dust and moisture
when the Smart Antenna Tool is not in use. 2. Power Button Push once to power
the Smart Antenna Tool on. In approximately three (3) seconds the LEDs will
illuminate. When turned on and not connected to the Outdoor Unit, the Smart
Antenna Tool displays the remaining battery charge level.
See the LED indicator section for details on battery level indication. Press
and hold the Power button for four (4) seconds to turn off the Smart Antenna
Tool. The LEDs will all turn off. Press and hold the Power button for ten (10)
seconds to reboot the Smart Antenna Tool. The device will automatically power
off after 15 minutes of inactivity. Also note that once turned off, the unit
may not be powered on again for the next 30 seconds.
3. Micro USB Port to charge the battery The Micro USB port connects to a USB
power source using the supplied USB cable to charge the internal battery.
Connect the Smart Antenna Tool to a 5V/2A power source for optimum charging
speed. 4. Multipurpose LED indicators The LED indicators on the Smart Antenna
Tool are multifunctional. They display: 1. Remaining battery level when power
is on and the unit is not in any of
the following three modes 2. Compass recalibration required (Compass
Calibration mode) 3. RF signal strength during alignment (Cell scanning mode)
4. System status when the Outdoor Unit is in normal operation
(Normal operation mode) See the LED indicator section for more information.

Charging the Smart Antenna Tool
The included USB cable can be used to charge the Smart Antenna Tool. Connect
the USB cable from the Micro USB port on the Smart Antenna Tool to the
included AC wall charger or another 5V/2A power source for optimum charging
speed. The battery will fully charge in approximately five hours at room
temperature (charging time may vary at extreme temperatures). The LED
indicators on the side of the Smart Antenna Tool light up and may flash
depending on the remaining battery level. See the LED indicator section for
details on reading the battery level.
Rated output: 3.8V DC, 1.2A Note: The battery cannot be charged while it is
connected to an Outdoor Unit. Do not power off the Smart Antenna Tool while it
is charging.
Warning: Wait at least 10 seconds after powering off the Smart Antenna Tool
before connecting the USB charge cable. Failure to do so will require you to
remove the charge cable and reboot the tool by holding the power button down
for 10 seconds. 6

LED Indicators
The same LED indicators can have different meanings depending on the mode of
operation which the Smart Antenna Tool is currently in. a. Battery Check Mode
When the Smart Antenna Tool is powered on
and not connected to an Outdoor Unit or the battery is charging.

b. Compass Calibration Mode – The Smart Antenna Tool contains an electronic
compass which periodically requires calibration in order to provide the most
accurate orientation possible. Calibrate the device at every start and
recalibrate when all three LED indicators flash both red and green twice a
second. To calibrate the device, first isolate it from any magnetic field or
metal structures (for example vehicles, the antenna pole, power lines, etc.)
and then rotate the unit fully through all three axes, see drawings below.
When recalibration is successful, the LEDs will stop flashing.

Upgrading the firmware
To update the software on the Smart Antenna Tool, the device must be connected
to a PC via Wi-Fi. 1. Power on the Smart Antenna Tool. 2. On the PC, search
for available networks. The network name of
the Smart Antenna Tool is NIT- XXXX where the letter X is a random number.
3. Connect to the network using the “Key” printed on the device label. 4.
Once connected, navigate to http://192.168.3.1 using your preferred
browser. 5. Log in using the User Name root and password admin.

6. From the Status Page click on the Upgrade Button.
7. Under Upgrade firmware, use the Choose a file button to select the file
you have been provided.
8. Select the Upgrade button to begin the firmware upgrade process.

Using the Smart Antenna Tool to align an Outdoor Unit
Before beginning to align an Outdoor Unit, press the Power button on the
bottom of the Smart Antenna Tool and observe the battery level indicated by
the LED indicators. Ensure that you have an adequate charge level for the
installation. To align an Outdoor Unit: 1. Prepare the Outdoor Unit as per the
Installation Guide. 2. On the Outdoor Unit, locate the alignment port and
remove the
protective cap from it.

3. Power on the Smart Antenna Tool and calibrate the compass as described on
page 8. Remove the protective cap from the Smart Antenna Tool’s connector then
connect the Smart Antenna Tool to the alignment port of the Outdoor Unit as
shown below.

4. Wait approximately 1 minute for the Outdoor Unit to go through its boot up
process.
Warning: When the Smart Antenna Tool is connected to the Outdoor Unit, do not
point the front panel of the Outdoor Unit directly at other people or
yourself. Always maintain a separation distance greater than the recommended
exposure distance of the connected Outdoor Unit between any part of your body
and the front of the Outdoor Unit. We recommend that you disconnect the PoE
cable and Smart Antenna Tool if you are working in proximity to the Outdoor
Unit and it is not required to be on.
5. On your smartphone, open the Casa Systems Installation app then follow the
instructions in app to complete the installation.
Note: If the device is not discovered in the app, ensure that you have waited
long enough for the antenna to have completed its boot up process. If the
antenna has been powered on for more than 10 minutes, it will no longer be
discoverable. In this case, power cycle the antenna and try again.
6. When you have completed the installation using the smartphone, disconnect
the Smart Antenna Tool from the Outdoor Unit.

Battery temperature
The temperature of the battery can influence both its performance and life
span. To get the best performance out of your battery, ensure that it is used
within the following temperature ranges: Operating temperature range: -10°C to
+60°C The Smart Antenna Tool will cease to function outside of this
temperature range. Battery charging temperature range: 0°C to +30°C The Smart
Antenna Tool will cease to charge the battery outside of this temperature
range. Recommended storage temperature ranges: 1 year: -20°C to +25°C 3
months: -20°C to +45°C 1 month: -20°C to +60°C Storing the battery outside of
these ranges can permanently reduce its capacity.

familiariser avec les fonctions et l’utilisation de l’outil d’antenne
intelligente de Casa Systems. Cet outil à pile se branche sur le port
d’orientation à l’arrière d’un dispositif extérieur Casa Systems, qui lui
fournit une alimentation et un point d’accès sans fil. L’installateur peut
utiliser un appareil sans fil portatif, comme un ordinateur portatif ou une

Lorsqu’il est sous tension et n’est pas connecté au dispositif extérieur,
l’outil d’antenne intelligente affiche le niveau de charge de la pile.

Appuyez sur le bouton d’alimentation et maintenez-le enfoncé pendant quatre
(4) secondes pour éteindre l’outil d’antenne intelligente. Les indicateurs DEL
s’éteindront tous. Appuyez sur le bouton d’alimentation et maintenez-le
enfoncé pendant dix (10) secondes pour redémarrer l’outil d’antenne
intelligente. L’appareil s’éteindra automatiquement après 15 minutes
d’inactivité. Notez que, lorsque l’appareil est éteint, il ne peut être remis
sous tension pendant 30 secondes. 3. Port micro USB de chargement de la pile
Le port micro USB se raccorde à une source d’alimentation USB au moyen du
câble fourni pour charger la pile interne. Branchez l’outil d’antenne
intelligente à une source d’alimentation 5 V/2 A pour un temps de charge
minimum. 4. Indicateurs DEL multifonctions Les indicateurs DEL de l’outil
d’antenne intelligente sont multifonctionnels.
Ils affichent : 1. Le niveau de charge de la pile lorsque l’appareil est sous
tension et
qu’il n’est pas dans l’un des trois modes suivants : 2. Le calibrage de la
boussole nécessaire (mode de calibrage de la
boussole) 3. La puissance du signal RF pendant l’orientation (mode de balayage
cellulaire) 4. L’état du système lorsque le dispositif extérieur est en

Recharge de l’outil d’antenne intelligente
Le câble USB inclus dans la boîte peut servir à charger l’outil d’antenne
intelligente. Connectez le câble USB au port micro USB de l’outil au chargeur
mural c.a. ou à une autre source d’alimentation 5 V/2 A pour un temps de
chargement minimum. Il faudra environ cinq heures pour charger complètement
une pile à température ambiante (le temps de chargement peut varier à des
températures extrêmes). Les indicateurs DEL sur le côté de l’outil d’antenne
intelligente s’allument et peuvent clignoter selon le niveau de charge de la
pile. Consultez la section sur les indicateurs DEL pour plus de détails sur la
lecture du niveau de charge.
Remarque: Il est impossible de charger la pile pendant que l’outil est
connecté à un dispositif extérieur. Ne mettez pas l’outil d’antenne
intelligente hors tension lorsque celui-ci est en train d’être chargé
charging.
Attention: Après avoir mis l’outil hors tension, attendez au moins 10 secondes
avant de le connecter au câble de chargement USB. Le nonrespect de cette
consigne vous forcera à retirer le câble de chargement et à redémarrer l’outil
en maintenant le bouton d’alimentation enfoncé pendant 10 secondes.

Indicateurs DEL
Les mêmes indicateurs DEL peuvent signifier différentes choses selon le mode
de fonctionnement actuel de l’outil d’antenne intelligente. a. Mode de
vérification de la pile Lorsque l’outil d’antenne intelligente
est sous tension et qu’il n’est pas connecté à un dispositif extérieur ou que
la pile n’est pas en train d’être chargée.

l’extérieur. Il ne faut pas les regarder de près ou pendant de longues
périodes.

b. Mode de calibrage de la boussole – L’outil d’antenne intelligente est doté
d’une boussole électronique qui nécessite périodiquement d’être calibrée afin
d’indiquer l’orientation la plus précise possible Calibrez l’appareil au début
de chaque tâche et recalibrez-le lorsque les trois indicateurs DEL clignotent
en rouge et en vert deux fois par seconde. Pour calibrer l’appareil, isolez-le
de tout champ magnétique ou structure métallique (par exemple un véhicule, un
poteau d’antenne, une ligne électrique, etc.) puis tournez l’appareil
complètement dans les trois axes (voir les dessins ci-dessous). Lorsque le
recalibrage est réussi, les indicateurs DEL arrêteront de clignoter.

Utilisation de l’outil d’antenne intelligente pour orienter un dispositif
extérieur
Avant de commencer l’orientation d’un dispositif extérieur, appuyez sur
l’interrupteur d’alimentation au bas de l’outil d’antenne intelligente et
observez le niveau de charge de la pile donné par les indicateurs DEL.
Assurez-vous de disposer d’un niveau de charge suffisant pour effectuer
l’installation. Pour orienter un dispositif extérieur : 1. Préparez le
dispositif extérieur conformément au guide d’installation. 2. ur le dispositif
extérieur, repérez le port d’orientation et retirez son
capuchon de protection.

la description à la page 8. Retirez le capuchon de protection du connecteur de
l’outil d’antenne intelligente, puis branchez l’outil sur le port
d’orientation du dispositif extérieur, comme illustré ci-dessous

4. Attendez environ une minute pour que le dispositif extérieur effectue son
processus de démarrage.
Attention: Lorsque l’outil d’antenne intelligente est connecté au dispositif
extérieur, ne pointez pas le panneau avant du dispositif directement vers
d’autres personnes ou vous-même. Gardez en tout temps une distance supérieure
à la distance d’exposition recommandée par rapport au dispositif extérieur
connecté entre n’importe quelle partie de votre corps et l’avant du dispositif
extérieur. Nous vous recommandons de débrancher le câble d’alimentation par
Ethernet et l’outil d’antenne intelligente si vous travaillez à proximité du
dispositif extérieur et que ce dernier n’a pas besoin d’être sous tension.
5. Sur votre téléphone intelligent, ouvrez l’application d’installation de
Casa Systems et suivez les instructions pour terminer l’installation.
Remarque: Si vous ne trouvez pas l’appareil dans l’application, assurez-vous
d’avoir attendu assez longtemps pour que le processus de démarrage de
l’antenne soit terminé. Si l’antenne est sous tension depuis plus de 10
minutes, vous ne pourrez plus la trouver. Dans ce cas, éteignez puis rallumez
l’antenne et réessayez.

Température de la pile
La température de la pile peut affecter à la fois son fonctionnement et sa
longévité. Pour optimiser le fonctionnement de la pile, veillez à ce qu’elle
reste dans l’échelle de température suivante: Échelle de température de
fonctionnement: de -10°C à 60°C L’outil d’antenne intelligente cessera de
fonctionner à l’extérieur de cette échelle de température. Échelle de
température de chargement de la pile: de 0 °C à 30 °C L’outil d’antenne
intelligente cessera de charger la pile à l’extérieur de cette échelle de
température. Échelles de température d’entreposage recommandées: 1 an: de -20
°C à 25 °C 3 mois: de -20 °C à 45 °C 1 mois: -de -20 °C à 60 °C Si la pile est
entreposée à l’extérieur de ces échelles, sa capacité peut être réduite de
manière permanente.
