Required Tools
- Straight razor
- Scissors
- A measuring tape
- An adhesive ( Instant Grab #310 )

Installation Instructions
Step 1. Preparing the Surface
Before commencing the installation process, it is crucial to ensure that the surface meets specific requirements. Firstly, it must be thoroughly dry to prevent any moisture related issues. Secondly, the surface should be impeccably smooth, allowing for a seamless installation. Lastly, it should be completely free from any dust, grease, wax, or other particles that could hinder the installation or affect its quality.
Step 2. Mark the Control Line
To establish the control line for your project, utilize the chalk line for marking purposes. The control line serves as a straight guideline that divides the tiled area in half. Measure your ceiling to determine the midpoint, and then employ the chalk line to connect the two points.
Stretch the chalk-covered string from one side to the other at the halfway point. It’s recommended to have two people hold it in place while one person pulls down and releases the string, creating a chalky line on the ceiling. This reference line will assist you in correctly positioning your ceiling tiles.
Step 3. Creating Additional Control Lines
When installing PVC Lite ceiling tiles, begin from the farthest point of the room and proceed from left to right. Some PVC Lite tiles are designed with a BIO (Built-In Overlap), featuring a flat edge on the top and right side of each panel.
This allows for seamless overlapping of the next panel, minimizing visible seams. As you progress from left to right during installation, ensure that the flat edge of each panel is consistently positioned on the right side.
Step 4. Dry-Fitting and Tracing
Before applying adhesive to your ceiling tiles, it’s important to dry-fit them first. Position the tiles on the ceiling, taking note of any fixtures or obstacles you need to work around.
A useful technique is to attach duct tape to the back of the tiles, allowing them to temporarily stick in place while you trace and dry-fit each tile. This ensures proper placement and allows you to make any necessary adjustments before applying adhesive.
Step 5. Trimming and Cutting Tiles
To ensure a precise fit of the PVC Lite ceiling tiles, it’s time to utilize your scissors. Cut the tiles according to the required measurements, taking into account any fixtures or obstacles on the ceiling. Opting for rounded shapes can provide ample space for accommodating a central light fixture in the room.
Don’t worry, this process shouldn’t be overly difficult or time-consuming. However, it’s advisable to use a sturdy pair of scissors to ensure clean and accurate cuts. Remember, if you are overlapping four PVC Lite ceiling tiles, consider cutting a ½” notch in panels number 2 and 3 to avoid any buildup that may result in an uneven surface
Step 6. Applying Adhesive and Installing Tiles
Apply adhesive carefully to the ceiling (or wall for 2′ x 2′ wall applications). Place the first tile, applying pressure to secure it in position. If the tile has protective masking, remove it at this stage.
Ensure the tile is straight before proceeding to the next one. Repeat the process, working from left to right, and remove the protective masking after installing each applicable.
Once all the tiles are installed, use a paint roller on an extension pole to apply additional pressure to the filler strips if desired. Depending on the adhesive type, you may need to use bracing or temporary supports while the adhesive sets.
Step 7. Lay-in Tile Prep & Installation
Count the number of tiles needed for your project. Use a mineral tile as a template and score the PVC Lite ceiling tile to size using a marker and utility knife. Snap the pieces apart for a precise fit.
Some 2′ x 2′ and 2′ x 4′ sizes of PVC Lite ceiling tiles may require a small amount of panel adhesive in the center to adhere to an existing mineral fiber tile to prevent sagging.
Installing PVC Lite ceiling tiles under existing mineral fiber tiles can enhance sound absorption and reduce waste. Ensure the tile is straight before proceeding to the next one. Repeat the process, working from left to right, and remove the protective masking after installing each applicable.
Consider using an easy-to-install hold-down clip system to support lay-in PVC Lite ceiling tiles if there are no existing tiles in place. This helps prevent displacement and ensures a visually seamless appearance. Begin by installing the 4′ Main covers, followed by the 2′ or 4′ Tee covers, on the t-bar suspension grid for a seamless look. Remember to cut out an opening on the tile to accommodate recessed lighting fixtures, if needed.
