User Guide

Thank you for purchasing the Time Out Lockbox. Please take a moment to read this guide and store it for future reference.

INTRODUCTION

The Time Out Lockbox was created to help promote good habits by removing temptations for a finite period of time. You can use it to “lock up” technology (phones, games), cigarettes, credit cards,  food, candy, and other items. It is not intended for crime prevention.

INSTALLING THE BATTERIES

  1. Remove the sticker from the lid of the box.
  2. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the lid.
  3. Please install two AAA batteries (not included). You will see numbers on the LCD screen.
  4. Remove the pin and allow the spring bolt to pop out. NOTE: Do not close the lid before the batteries are correctly installed.
  5. Close the lid.

GETTING STARTED

  1. Press the “H” and “M” buttons at the same time to open the lid and clear the screen.
  2. Place an object into the Time Out Lockbox and close the lid.
  3. Press the “H” button to set the HOURS your item will be locked up.
  4. Press the “M” button to set the MINUTES your item will be locked up. NOTE: Press and hold the “H” button to advance the hours rapidly. Press and hold the “M” button to advance the minutes rapidly.
  5. Press the button to activate the countdown. The LCD will display an extra 5 seconds. Within that 5-second grace period, you can press any button to stop and cancel the setting.
  6. After the 5 seconds have elapsed, the “real” timer will start to count down, and the lid cannot be opened by pressing the “H” and “M” buttons. The LCD will display the symbol.
  7. The lid will open automatically when the countdown ends. The LCD will display the  symbol.

CHOOSE SILENT OR SOUND MODE

  1. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds to toggle between silent mode and sound mode.

IMPORTANT

  1. The lid can ONLY be opened when the LCD screen displays the symbol. To open the lid, press the “H” and “M” buttons at the same time.
  2. If there is no activity (i.e., while the device is not in counting mode), the device will power off automatically in 2 minutes. Press any button to resume.
  3. Replace the batteries when the LCD display is fuzzy. If the batteries expire and you cannot open the lid, please insert the USB power cable into the DC power socket. The USB power will allow the  LCD screen to operate so you can open the lid. Replace the batteries at once.

  • The Time Out Lockbox is designed to help users establish good habits. It is not designed for theft prevention.
  • The Time Out Lockbox is not suitable for children.
  • The Time Out Lockbox is made of plastic. Please do not drop.
  • Keep this device away from water and fire.
  • Apply good judgment when using this device. Do not lock up items you may need in an emergency, such as medications, car keys, etc.
