Assemble your Canopy
-
Hold the Core3 in your non-dominant hand, ensuring that the Canopy logo on the sticker is facing towards you with the arrow pointing up.
With your dominant hand, grab your Face Seal’, ensuring the nose bridge is facing up with the Wings on either side. Each Wing has a Canopy logo that should face up.
-
Bring the flat edge of your Face Seal together with the sticker side of your Core, aligning the arrow at the top of your Core with the Face Seal’s nose bridge. Hook the ridge of your Face Seal over the lip of your Core, starting with the top corner (aligning the up arrow with the Face Seal’s nose bridge) followed by the upper left/right corners, the lower left/right corners and finally the bottom corner. Your Face Seal should sit securely on the lip of the Core, without covering the Intake Openings3a.
-
Hold the combined Face Seal and Core in your dominant hand, ensuring the arrow on the Core points upwards, and the Face Seal’s nose bridge is the top-most point of the unit.
With your non-dominant hand, grab your Splash Guard2a, holding both Silicone Tubes2b away from the center of the Splash Guard. Ensure the Splash Guard is pointing up, with the Headpiece2b extending from the top, and the Neckpiece2d from the bottom.
-
Bring the Splash Guard to meet your Core & Face Seal unit, ensuring that all four Snap Fits3b align. Look at the outside of the Splash Guard to ensure that the Core’s transparent window is aligned with the cutout on the Splash Guard. Push firmly to snap the Core into the Splash Guard. Ensure you hear distinct snapping sounds as each Snap Fit clicks into place.
Your Canopy Face Seal, Core, and Splash Guard should now act as a single unit, with no individual components feeling loose.
Don your Canopy
-
Properly align Canopy over the bridge of your nose and make sure it extends below your chin, ensuring a secure fit and good seal.
-
Pull the Headpiece over the top of your head, letting it rest comfortably on the crown of your head.
-
Check tension on the Silicone Tubes. If loose, pull sides of the tubes out, then pull extra tubing down through Splash Guard to adjust accordingly.
-
Secure Neckpiece behind your neck, sliding the right half of the Neckpiece through the Neckpiece Latch. Listen for clicks to ensure proper connection.
Doff Your Canopy
-
Remove the Headpiece from the crown of the head, letting the respirator fall (Splash Guard first) onto the chest.
Optionally hang the Headpiece on the main body of your Canopy
-
Using the left pointer finger, lift the Neckpiece Latch while pulling the right half of the Neckpiece with the right hand.
FIT WARNING: Effectively wearing your Canopy respirator requires the user to be clean shaven and to have a face free of piercings, jewelry, heavy cosmetics, or features such as creases or scars that can interfere with the integrity of the respirator’s seal on the face. This respirator is designed for occupational/professional/personal use by adults who are properly trained in their use and limitations. This respirator is not designed to be used by children.
Inspection: Canopy Hero must be inspected prior to each use to ensure good operating condition. The respirator should be replaced if there are damaged or defective parts. The following inspection procedure is recommended:
- Check silicone face seal and suspension tubes for cracks, tears or other deformities, including inside the Filter Core channel on the face seal.
- Examine all plastic components for signs of distortion, cracking, or fatiguing.
- Inspect front lens for any damage that may result in air infiltration.
- Visually inspect the ratchet mechanism to ensure proper fit of the male and female together.
- Visually inspect filter material inside Core to ensure there are no holes or damage from misuse or improper storage.
Cleaning: Cleaning is recommended before and after each use of Canopy Hero.
- Do not submerge the Core in water or other cleaning solutions
- External surfaces of Canopy Hero can be cleaned by hand washing with warm water & soap, or with a variety of cleaning solutions, including most common disinfectant wipes. Full chemical compatibility can be found at www.onecanopy.com
Storage: When not in use, the cleaned Canopy Hero should be stored away from contaminated areas, and in clean, dry and moderate temperatures.
- Avoid placing Canopy Hero in areas of excessive hot or cold temperatures or direct sunlight.
- Avoid placing or storing Canopy Hero with other equipment or objects that may inadvertently damage the device.
Shortening your Canopy Straps
If you are unable to tighten Canopy Hero sufficiently to create a seal, you may cut the silicone tubes to shorten the straps.
-
Doff your Canopy Hero. Pull backward with a fingernail to remove the Bard2g & Silicone Tube 2b from the Headpiece
-
Pull the Barb to remove from the Silicone Tube. Set the Barb aside. Cut ,-1″ (2.5cm) off the silicone tube.
-
Reinsert the Barb into the Silicone Tube.
IMPORTANT: The end of the Tube should contact the hex portion of the barb for complete insertion.
-
Push the Barb and Tube back into the headpiece. Slight tension on the Silicone Tube can help with installation.
Repeat the procedure on the other side of the Headpiece.
Don your Canopy Hero, and check for seal integrity. If still too loose, repeat procedure. If you have cut too much Silicone Tube, please contact care@onecanopy.com
Positive Pressure Seal Test Procedure
-
Locate the Seal Test Cover4 packaged with the Hero Headgear
-
Pull the Cover over the front of the respirator, ensuring the plastic covers the Intake Openings3a.
-
Use your hands to secure the Cover tightly around the outside of the Face Seal’. Take a deep breath in, and breathe out sharply. The Seal Test Cover should expand, and you may feel some breathing resistance. No air should leak between your face and the Face Seal. If air leaks between your face and the Face Seal, adjust your Canopy and attempt again.
If you cannot achieve a complete seal, do not use the respirator.
