depth stop. The indicator (g) must point at the scale.
Feed handles to the shaft hub, Fig. 7
Screw the feed handles (A) tightly into the threaded holes in the hub (B).
Installing the chuck, Fig. 8
- Clean the conical hole in the chuck (5) and the spindle cone with a clean piece of fabric. Make sure there are no foreign particles sticking to the surfaces. The slightest piece of dirt on any of these surfaces will prevent the chuck from seating properly. This will cause the drill bit to wobble“. If tapered hole in the chuck is extremely dirty, use a cleaning solvent on the clean cloth.
- Push the chuck up on the spindle nose as far as it wiII go.
- Turn chuck sleeve anticlockwise (when viewed from above) and open jaws in chuck completely.
- Place a piece of wood on the machine table and lower the spindle onto the piece of wood. Press firmly to ensure that the food sits exactly. Fastening radial drill press to supporting surface For your own safety, it is highly recommended to install the machine on a bench or similar.
WARNING: All the necessary adjustments for the good working of your drill press have been done at the factory .Please do not modify them. However, because of a normal wear and tear of your tool, some readjustments might be necessary.
WARNING: Always unplug our tool from power source before any adjustment“
Quill return spring, Fig. 9
It may be necessary to adjust your quill return spring if the tension is such
that the quill returns either too rapidIy or too slowly
- Lower table for additional clearance.
- Work from left side of drill press.
- Move the stop nuts (B) down to their lowest position and lock in place with a wrench to prevent quill from dropping while tensioning the spring.
- Place screwdriver in lower front notch (C) of spring cap (D), and hold it in place
- Remove the screw (E) and the knurled nut (C) by using an Allen wrench (SW5).
- Carefully turn screwdriver anticlockwise and engage next notch in boss (G). Do not remove the screwdriver.
- Install the knurled nut (C) and the screw (E) again.
- If there is not enough tension on spring, repeat steps moving onIy one notch each time and checking tension after repetition. Proper tension is achieved when quill returns gentIy to full up position when released from 20 mm-3/4“ -depth.
- Check quill while feeding to have smooth and unrestrictedmovement. If movement is too tight, loosen allen screw (E) and knurled nut (F). Check if the spindle can move freely again. Retighten jam nut.
The angular play of the spindle. Fig. 10
With the spindle in a low position, take it in your hand and try to make it
revolving about its axis. If there is too much play, proceed as follows:
- Loosen lock nut (L).
- Turn the screw (I) clockwise to eliminate the play but without obstructing the upward and downward motion of the spindle (a little bit of play is normal).
- Tighten the lock nut
Operation
WARNING: if you are not familiar with this kind of machine, take advice from an experimented person. In any case you should have read and understood the safety and operational instruction before attempting to operate this product.

Adjusting table height., Fig. 12
-
1. Loosen the table support lock handle (b).
- Adjust the table (3) to the desired height.
- Re-tighten the table locking (b).
Note : it is better to lock the table to the column in a position so that the tip of the drill bit is just slightly above the top of the workpiece.
Installing drill bits
- Inser1 drill bit intc chuck (A) far enough to obtain maximum gripping of chuck jaws (B). (When using a small drill bit do not insert it so far that the jaws touch the flutes -spiral grocves -of the drill bit. )
- Make sure that the drill bit is centered in the chuck before tightening the chuck w th the chuck key (C). optional.
- Tighten the drill chuck sufficiently, so that the drill bit does not slip while drilling.
- Turn the chuck key clockwise to tighten, anticlockwise to loosen. Tighten the drill bit equally by using all three holes in successicn. The drill bit can be release by using one hole only.
Choosing speed and tensioning belt, Fig. 13
Note! Pull power plug!
- You can set different spindle speeds on your pillar drilling machine:
- WITH THE SWITCH „OFF“, open pulley cover.
- Loosen the drive belt on the right side of the machine head by unfastening the wing screws (12) on both sides. Pull the right side of the motor in the direction of the spindle to loosen the v-belt. Tighten the wing screws again.
- Attach the v-belt to the corresponding belt pulleys.
- Loosen the wing screws and push the right side of the motor backwards to clamp the v-belt again.
- Tighten belt tension lock knob. Belt should deflect approximately 13 mm –1/2“ -by thumb pressure at mid-point of belt between pulleys.
- Close pulley cover.
- If belt slips while drilling readjust belt tension.
Tip: Safety switch
If you want to adjust speed you have to open the pulley cover. The device
switches off immediately to avoid the risk of injuries.
Removing the chuck
Open jaws of chuck as wide as they go by turning chuck sleeve anticlockwise
(when viewed from above). Carefully tap chuck with mallet in one hand while
holding chuck in other hand to prevent dropping it when released from spindle
nose.
Depth stop, Fig. 14
The depth stop enables the drilling of holes in the workpiece until a defined
depth. You have two options for that.
Drilling to a specific depth.
- Mark the drilling depth (H) on one side of the workpiece.
- WITH THE SWITCH „OFF“, bring the drill bit down until the tip or lips are even the mark.
- Hold the feed handle at this position.
- Spin the lower nut (B2) down to contact the depth stop lug (13) on the head.
- Spin the upper nut (B1) down and tighten against the lower nut. The chuck and the drill bit will now be stopped after traveling downward the distance selected on the depth scale.
Depth scale method, Fig. 6
Note : for this method, with the spindle in its upper position the tip of
the drill bit must be just slightly above the top of the workpiece.
- Switch off the machine, lower the drill so far until the indicator (g) points at the desired drilling depth of the depth scale (e).
- Turn the lower nut (B2) downwards until it reaches the lower stop (13).
- Lock the lower nut (B1) against the upper nut.
- The chuck and the drill bit will now be stopped after traveling downward the distance selected on the depth scale.
Positioning table and workpiece, Fig. 15
Always place a piece of backup material (H) (‘wood, playwood…) on the table
underneath the workpiece (B). This will prevents splitting or making a heavy
burr on the underside of the workpieces as the drill bit breaks through. To
keep the backup material from spinning out of control it must contact the left
side of the column as illustrated.
Warning: to prevent the work piece or the backup material from being torn from your hand whiile drilling, position them to the left side of the column. If the work piece or the backup material are not long enough to reach the column, clamp them to the table. Failure to do this could result in personal injury.
Note : for small pieces that cannot be clamped to the table, use a drill press vise (Optional accessory). The vice must be clamp or bolt to the table to avoid injury from spinning work and vise or tool breakage.
Drilling a hole.
Make a dent in the workpiece where you want the hole, using a center punch or
a sharp nail. Before turning the switch on, bring the drill down to the
workpiece lining it up with the hole location. Turn the switch on and pull
down on the feed handles with onIy enough effort to allow the drill to cut.
FEEDING TOO SLOWLY might cause the drill bit to burn.
FEEDING TOO RAPIDLY might stop the motor, cause the bett or drill to
slip, tear the workpiece loose, or break the drill bit. When drilling metal,
it may be necessary to lubricate the tip of the drill with motor oil to
prevent burning the drill bit.
Cleaning and maintenance
WARNING : For your own safety, turn the switch off and remove plug from power source outlet before any operation of maintenance on our drill press.
Keep your appliance clean.
- Be careful some household cleaning products and solvents such as benzine, trichloroethene, chloride, ammonium, etc., can damage plastic parts.
