ABOUT

pureAir active air purifiers provide a cleaner indoor environment, improving indoor air quality. pureAir 3000 has a broad range of air purification technologies:

  • Ionization to go out and charge harmful particulates, causing them to clump together and drop out of your breathing space.
  • Activated oxygen (Ozone) attaches itself to contaminants at the molecular level, destroying them. This process eliminates the contaminant while reverting the activated oxygen back to oxygen.
  • Active Radiant Catalysis, or ARC®, a proprietary form of photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) that uses ultraviolet energy to activate a catalyst that converts water vapor into advanced oxidation products (AOPs) to continuously clean your space.

The result of these technologies is a reduction of odors, allergens, and other volatile organic compounds.

Regular cleanings and only once-per-year part replacement makes it simple and affordable to keep your home clean.

SETTING UP

This is going to be easy.

  1. Unpack your pureAir 3000
Remove everything from the box. Check and make sure you have everything listed in “PRODUCT CONTENTS” on page 2. Keep your packaging in case you need to return or exchange your unit. When you are satisfied with your unit, please recycle the box and properly dispose of all other packaging materials.

  2. Select a location for your pureAir 3000
There are several things to consider when selecting a location. First, find a common room that contains an HVAC return or adjoining a hallway that has an HVAC return. Ideally, locate the unit within twelve to twenty four inches (12”-24”) of the ceiling, on a bookcase, shelf, or mounting bracket. Make sure that there is nothing within three inches (3”) of the rear of the unit for proper air flow. Point the unit towards the center of the room. Never place an operating unit on the floor.

  3. Place your pureAir 3000 and plug it in
Check to make sure your unit is secure. Falling units can cause serious headaches! Unravel the cord attached to your DC POWER ADAPTER and your POWER CORD. Plug the DC POWER ADAPTER PLUG into the rear of the unit, then plug the POWER CORD into the wall. Make sure the POWER CORD is securely seated in the DC POWER ADAPTER and that the green indicator light on the DC POWER ADAPTER is lit, showing that it properly connected.

MAINTENANCE REMINDERS

The unit should be powered OFF and the POWER CORD disconnected whenever cleaning or servicing.

ARC Cell contains Hg (Mercury) and should be disposed of according to disposal laws. Find disposal centers atwww.earth911.org. DO NOT handle if broken or hot.

“REPLACE CELL”

When “REPLACE CELL” appears, the ARC CELL has stopped functioning and must be replaced. Contact your dealer or www.GreenTechEnv.com/Support to order a replacement. Once a replacement has been obtained, follow the instructions in “DISASSEMBLY” and “ASSEMBLY” (pages 12-15) to replace your old ARC CELL.

Note that the ARC CELL relies upon ultraviolet (UV) energy to power the catalytic reaction. Over time, the UV energy output degrades. For this reason, the ARC CELL should be replaced after one (1) year of continuous operation (9000 hours) regardless of the presence of the “REPLACE CELL” maintenance reminder.

“PERFORM CLEANING”

“PERFORM CLEANING” will display once the unit has been run for 30 days total running time and the unit requires a complete cleaning. Follow the instructions in “CLEANING”.

INITIAL SETTINGS

Before using your pureAir 3000 you will need to find the area (or square footage) of the environment. To do this accurately, take into account all connected rooms with open doorways (the cleaning does not flow through closed doors). The pureAir 3000 can clean up to 3,000 square feet* of space.

*Based on average ceiling height of 8.5’ and open floor plan and/or adjoining rooms for single level dwelling.

Once you have determined an ideal location for your unit and calculated the area of the environment:

  1. Connect the POWER CORD to the DC POWER ADAPTER and the DC POWER ADAPTER PLUG into the unit. (Check to be sure your power supply is properly assembled. The POWER CORD should be inserted far enough into the DC POWER ADAPTER so that a space of only about 1/8 in. is left between the widest part of the POWER CORD and the edge of the DC POWER ADAPTER.)
  2. Insert the Power Plug into the wall outlet.
  3. Turn the unit on and set it to NORMAL MODE (ARC) (see CONTROLS)
  4. Leave the unit on NORMAL MODE (ARC) for at least 24 hours to begin with.
  5. After 24 hours, set the unit to HIGH MODE and set the square footage to 250 square feet.
  6. Gradually increase the square footage setting every 12 – 24 hours until you reach the accurate square footage of your area which you calculated in the beginning steps. Note: Using the unit at a setting less than the square footage of the area being treated is acceptable and may be desirable in an environment relatively free of pollutants.
  7. If you reach your recommended square footage and still notice an unpleasant odor from your space, consider using AWAY MODE for an extra cleaning boost.

CONTROLS

Turning the unit ON/OFF

Press the POWER BUTTON on the CONTROL PANEL or REMOTE to turn the unit on. The unit will initially be set to NORMAL MODE (ARC). Press the POWER BUTTON once more to turn the power off.

CLEANING

The unit should be powered OFF and the POWER CORD disconnected whenever cleaning or servicing.

Review the Disassembly and Assembly Section before performing and cleaning and maintenance to prevent damage to the unit.

Your unit should be cleaned at least monthly to keep it running at peak performance, but more often if its operating environment is heavily contaminated.

Cleaning the Unit (Exterior):

Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth or use compressed air or a vacuum to remove dust.

Cleaning the FILTER ASSEMBLY

You may use clean water or compressed air to clean your FILTER ASSEMBLY once it has been disassembled (see “DISASSEMBLY” on page 12). After disassembling your unit, the three filters (mesh, foam, and honeycomb) should be removed and cleaned separately. If using water, you must allow the filters to dry separately before reassembly. When reassembling, the Honeycomb Filter goes in first, then the Foam Filter, and finally the thin Mesh Filter. Lastly, reattach the rim to the FILTER ASSEMBLY.

Cleaning the IONIZATION NEEDLE

Using a cotton swab, apply a small amount of clear alcohol-based cleaner (or rubbing alcohol) to the IONIZATION NEEDLE. You may also use compressed air to blow off any dust that may accumulate near the IONIZATION NEEDLE.
