Product Features

Communicates with vibration & light
When a target is located the Vibra-Tector 740 signals with pulses of vibration and flashes of bright light from a white LED.
Pulse Induction Technology (PI)
A specialized type of detection technology that allows hunting in salt water or in any type of soil, including black sand.
Detection depth stability
Advanced electronic circuitry maintains detection distance throughout the life of the battery.
Target distancing
As you get closer to the target the pulses of vibration and light will increase in quantity.
Automatic tuning
The state-of-the-art microprocessor-controlled design requires no adjustments of any kind.
Waterproof to 100 ft (30m)
The detector’s sealed design allows hunting in the rain or underwater to a depth of 100 feet.

Battery Installation

Battery Compartment Seal
This detector uses an expansion plug to seal the battery compartment. When the knob of the seal is rotated clockwise, the rubber in the plug expands and presses against the inside wall of the battery compartment, sealing the unit.
Opening the Compartment
To open the battery compartment, rotate the knob of the seal counter-clockwise a few turns to reduce the expansion, then pull to remove it.
Connecting the Battery
Connect a standard 9-volt battery to the battery clip and insert the battery into the detector, clip side first.
Sealing the Compartment
To replace the seal, insert it fully into the battery compartment. Then turn the knob clockwise until hand tight to assure a water-tight seal.

Powering On & Off

Power on
Hold the unit with the search coil up. Light will flash. Two short pulses of vibration, and steady dim light, indicate the unit is on.
Power off
After use, hold the unit with the search coil up. Light will flash. Two long pulses of vibration, and no light, indicate the unit is off.
Low battery auto-off
When the battery is low the unit will shut down automatically indicated by four long pulses of vibration and bright light.
Before submerging the detector make sure the battery compartment seal is secure.
Use only high-quality batteries such as alkaline or nickel-metal hydride (NiMH).

Detecting a Target

The Vibra-Tector communicates through pulses of vibration and bright light. These pulses increase in quantity the closer the search coil is to a detected target.
The quantity of pulses is proportional to the target size and distance. The bigger the target, or the closer the search coil is to the target, the higher the pulse count.
The movement of the search coil is required to detect a target. Sweep the search coil back and forth along the surface you are searching.
The detector communicates its proximity to the target only one time per detection. Move the coil slightly away and then re-approach the target to get the next detection.

Important Notes

  • The detection field projected resembles a cone shape, with the deepest depth of detection in the center of the coil. The slower the sweep the deeper the detection depth.
  • Raising the detector’s coil up while in use will start the turn-off sequence, indicated by a blinking light. Lower the detector’s coil within 3 seconds to continue detecting.
  • The unit will not detect when the light is blinking in either the turn-on or turn-off sequence.
  • As with any new detector you should practice with known targets to develop your searching technique.

Helpful Hints

  • If you continue to hold the detector with the coil up after turn on, then the detector will remain on indefinitely in this vertical position. This feature may be useful if searching with the detectors coil in a vertical position is necessary.
  •  You can secure the Vibra-Tector to your wrist using the attached wrist strap. To adjust fit, press down on the cord lock button and move it to the desired location.

Product Care

  • Your Vibra-Tector 740 is a sensitive electronic instrument. Although it is rugged, care in transporting and handling will extend its life and result in optimum performance.
  • When the Vibra-Tector is off there is no drain on the battery. However, if stored for long periods of time, we recommend that the battery be removed to prevent damage to the detector due to a potential battery leak.
  • If the detector has been exposed to salt water always rinse with fresh water and check the battery compartment for any leaks. If water has entered the battery compartment carefully wipe dry and leave it open until completely dry.
