User Guide
Introduction
Apple’s macOS releases have increased their internal security requirements and
settings. These changes affect the procedures used for updating AJA device
software on Mac computers. A significant recent security difference is more
stringent identification is required for application developers.
For Big Sur specifically, you will need to confirm AJA’s new developer
information by unlocking and relocking your System Preferences settings at the
proper time.
macOS Installations
macOS High Sierra (10.13), macOS Mojave (10.14), macOS Catalina (10.15), and macOS Big Sur (11. x) all have security requirements that may present dialogs during installation. See the Release Notes for your AJA device, available on the AJA website and also installed with the software package, for minimum and recommended system requirements including OS, CPU, RAM, and GPU, and for any macOS-specific installation procedure changes.
Installing AJA Device Update: Big Sur Software

Go to the AJA website and download the latest AJA software installer, which includes a package of the current software for AJA cards and devices. https://www.aja.com/en/support/downloads/
NOTE: If your computer has previously had another video capture or multimedia device installed, ensure you uninstall any related software before installing the AJA software package. This will prevent any hardware or software conflicts. -

Connect your AJA device to your computer, using the appropriate Thunderbolt cable or by inserting your AJA card into a compatible computer slot or external chassis.

With the AJA software package installed and your AJA device connected to your computer, you can now continue with the usual AJA device firmware update procedure. Refer to the AJA Release Notes or Installation and Operation Guide for complete instructions.
