SINOSECU APR5300(I) Passport Reader Scanner
Thank you for purchasing Sinosecu passport reader. It is a desktop scanner specially designed for fast and accurate reading of multiple document types: passports, e-passports, ID cards, visas, driver’s licenses. And it can be widely used in any application, such as Airport, Hotel, Bank, Travel Agency, Immigration, Border Control.
Overview
Introduction
Sinopec Passport Reader, as a special desktop reader is designed for
fast/accurate full page document reading of passports, e-passports, ID cards,
driver licenses and other travel documents.we alsoo
provide custom services for more types of documents. It supports ICAO-
compliant and non-compliant travel documents. High-resolution images are
captured by 5.0 Megapixel camera, and multiple illuminations (Visible, IR and
UV) are also available.
The Passport Reader series are widely used in any application, such as hotels,
airports, travel agencies, banks, immigration offices, border control.

Getting started
Software
Please find the CD and COPY all files into your computer, which are Passport
reader’s SDK.
Driver
In the folder of “PassportReader Driver”, please install “32 bit” or “64 bit”
driver according to your computer operating system.
Do not plug the reader in before installing the Sinosecu Passport Reader driver. You must install the driver first.
Demo
In the folder of “SDK”, please install “setup.exe”. Once the software is
installed, there will be a desktop shortcut named “Sinosecu passport reader”.
Connect to computer
Place the Reader ona flat, firm, solid surface within easy access.

Connect the power line

Connect the USB line
Please connect the reader and your computer with the USB line into your computer.

Start the reader
Please turn on the power, the BLUE light means power is connected; then please click “Sinosecu Passport Reader” to test.
Make sure the reader is plugged in and working
- Go to the “Control Panel”, and find the Device Manager select “System”> “Hardware”> “Device Manager”.
- Make sure you see “Wintone Passport Reader” in the “Univessal Serial Bus controllers” section. If you cannot see this item, then reboot the reader and plug it in.
Document Test
Please start Sinosecu Passport Reader program with the desktop shortcut.Then test the demo program with passports.The following images show you the proper way to put documents in.
Troubleshooting
Image Calibration Tool
If the image you captured is overexposed or underexposed, please find the
folder of “Image Calibration Tool”, and run “Image Calibration Tool.exe” to
process the image.
Note: The Image Calibration Tool can be used for Visible, IR.
The Reader doesn’t work properly
- Connect the reader and make sure that the blue LED is on(left side of the reader). If it is flashing or is not lit, there must be a power supply problem, maybe the USB cable is not connected, or the USB hub does not support USB2.0, or the Reader is defective.
- Make sure “Wintone Passport Reader’ is in the “Universal Serial Bus controller list. If it is not, please remove related entries in the device manager, then unplug the reader from PC, then reconnect. If this doesn’t work, please re-install the driver package.
Fail to initialize
When using Sinosecu Passport Reader software to test the passport reader, it shows a message about initializes failed.
- Make sure the passport reader works.
- Update software. Check update if the version is V6.7.5.0 and later install the updated software or contact us.

Please carefully unpack the reader package. Any component missing or damaged,
please inform us as soon as possible. Each of the package contains the
follwing items: 
Please read the below information before use
- Please make sure the reader can be as efficient as possible by keeping it out of direct sunlight;
- Please do not expose the reader to a damp or dusty environment:
- Please make sure about the AC power to be used;
- Please put the reader on a stable surface, the unstable or tilted place may result in errors during the usage
- Please keep the reader package in order to facilitate future transportation.
