INTERNAL DRAFT ONLY
This document contains all of the information required to properly use and troubleshoot the Sinophone and its accompanying software.
Safety Instructions & Handling
Handle no phones with care. They contain sensitive electronic components,
including batteries, and can be damaged, impair functionality, or cause injury
if dropped, burned, punctured, crushed, disassembled, or exposed to excessive
heat or liquid or to environments having high concentrations of industrial
chemicals, including near evaporating liquified gasses such as helium.
Do not use damaged phones.
Batteries
Don’t attempt to replace any phone’s batteries yourself – you may damage the
batteries, which could cause overheating and injury.
Charging
Charge no phones with the charging cable and a power adapter or computer. Only
charge with an adapter that is compliant with applicable country regulations
and international and regional safety standards, including the International
Standard for Safety of Information Technology Equipment (IEC 60950-1). Other
adapters may not meet applicable safety standards, and charging with such
adapters could pose a risk of death or injury. Using damaged cables or
chargers, or charging when moisture is present, can cause fire, electric
shock, injury, or damage to the case or other property.
Important note: Do not use or wear no phones when plugged into a power source.
Prolonged heat exposure
Avoid prolonged skin contact with a device, its power adapter, the charging
cable, or the connector when plugged into a power source, because it may cause
discomfort or injury. Don’t sit or sleep on the product, charging cable,
connector, or power adapter, or place them under a blanket, pillow, or your
body while the device is charging. Take special care if you have a physical
condition that affects your ability to detect heat against your body.
Water, moisture, and heat
Do not use any phones near water or when you are wet. Enophones are not water-
resistant.
Hearing loss
Listening to sound at high volumes may permanently damage your hearing.
Background noise, as well as continued exposure to high volume levels, can
make sounds seem quieter than they actually are. Check the volume before
playing audio. Do not wear the headphones if they emit any loud unusual noise.
If this happens turn the headphones off and contact a Mindset service
representative.
WARNING: to prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen to high volume levels for long periods.
Driving hazard
Use of no phones while operating a vehicle is not recommended and is illegal
in some areas. Check and obey the applicable laws and regulations on the use
of headphones while operating a vehicle. Be careful and attentive while
driving. Stop listening to your audio device if you find it disruptive or
distracting while operating any type of vehicle or performing any activity
that requires your full attention.
Use in appropriate contexts
Enophones are intended to be used indoors in a properly seated position and
are not intended for use while walking down the street or driving. Failure to
pay full attention during walking could result in death, serious injury, or
property damage. Quick movement while wearing enophones may cause irritation
to the scalp. You assume full responsibility and risk for not following this
operating instruction.
Do not open, modify, or attempt to repair
Aside from the removable electrodes, there are no serviceable parts inside the
device. Always refer servicing to qualified service personnel only. Changes or
modifications to the device are not approved by Mindset and could void the
warranty and user’s authority to operate the device.
Choking hazard
Enophones electrodes and accessories may present a choking hazard or cause
another injury to small children. Keep them away from small children.
Medical device interference
Enophones contain components and radios that emit electromagnetic fields.
Enophones also contain magnets. These electromagnetic fields and magnets may
interfere with pacemakers, defibrillators, or other medical devices. Maintain
a safe distance of separation between your medical device and enophones.
Consult your physician and medical device manufacturer for information
specific to your medical device. Stop using enophones if you suspect they are
interfering with your pacemaker, defibrillator, or any other medical device.
Skin irritation
Headphones can lead to ear infections if not properly cleaned. Clean
enophones regularly with a soft lint-free cloth. Do not get moisture in any
openings, or use aerosol sprays, solvents, or abrasives. If a skin problem
develops, discontinue use. If the problem persists, consult a physician.
Electrostatic shock
When using enophones in areas where the air is very dry, it is easy to build
up static electricity, and possible for your ears to receive a small
electrostatic discharge from enophones. To minimize the risk of electrostatic
discharge, avoid using enophones in extremely dry environments, or touch a
grounded unpainted metal object before wearing enophones.
Important handling information
Discoloration of the enophones and charging cables after regular use is
normal. Dirt, debris, and exposure to moisture may cause discoloration. Before
cleaning, disconnect the charging cable from both your enophones and your
computer or power adapter. Clean the products with a soft, dry, lint-free
cloth. Do not use liquids or cleaning products.
Disposal and recycling
Please dispose of used batteries properly, following local regulations. Do not
incinerate. Do not handle damaged or leaking rechargeable batteries. Removal
of the rechargeable lithium-ion battery in this product should be conducted
only by a qualified professional.
This symbol indicates that the product must not be discarded as household waste, and should be delivered to an appropriate collection facility for recycling.
