Frequently Asked Questions

  • How many Joules is this?
This item is a power strip, not a surge protector. Only a surge protector has a joule rating. The power strip is used only to power items, it does not offer surge protection.

  • Is the switch illuminated by LED, neon, or something else?
GE 6 outlet power strip with 12 ft cord, item 45195, does not have an illuminated on/off switch. The manufacturer’s answer is apparently for a power strip 2-pack with 2 ft cords, item 14833. No idea why that answer was linked to item 45195.

  • What’s the wattage before this thing trips?
The Electrical Ratings for these power strips are 120VAC, 15A, 1800W

  • Would this work plug into a 220v to 125v transformer? I’d use it to plug a psx and Wii in Europe.
We do not recommend exceeding the electrical rating of 120VAC, 15A, and 1800W.

  • Do these have 2 or 3 prongs?
This item has a three-prong grounded plug.

  • If I put this in the top socket, can I fit another flat plug into the bottom socket? Is there space for it to fit?
The plug for this has an angle so it works best plugged into the bottom plug if you want to plug in something else into the other socket.

  • I can’t plug anything into the plugs; they don’t fit. Is there a way to fix this?

  • Can i use this to plug in a freeze plug-in air freshener?
We do not recommend using any product that contains liquid with our GE Power Strip

  • I did not receive this order and in my order history, it is marked delivered. How can I get in contact with customer service??
You can google to find Amazon’s 800 number. They are extremely helpful.

  • Is this product really as good as advertised?
I purchased these power strips in November 2021 (~2 months ago) and they are everything that is listed in the description. Solid and sturdy for a good value.

  • I need a power strip with a circuit breaker not to exceed an output of 2100 watts (not input). Will this power strip do that, up to 1800 watts?
This is a power strip that is rated 120V, 15A, and 1800W. It has a built-in circuit breaker. They don’t specifically show the rating, I would assume 15A – not any higher. Circuit breakers work based on amps. If your actual voltage is 120V, then that would be 120×15=1800 watts. If your actual voltage is 115V, then the maximum watts would be 115×15=1725 watts. This is just a power strip, it does not use any amps. Input and output are the same. Assuming this is plugged into a normal 115V circuit, the breaker in your main breaker panel is also rated 15A. If anything else is plugged into the same circuit, the main breaker will trip before you get 15A on just this strip.
