Important Information
This item and its components are designed for use by a professional/competent person to produce a bespoke design/effect. It is not a finished product, and as such, it is the responsibility of the installer to make sure that the finished product/installation is suitable for the purposes it is being used for and is installed to meet all current legislation and standards. The installer should pass onto the user a comprehensive working document on how to safely use and maintain the product in the form of a professional written manual. A qualified electrician should test the finished item before commissioning and handing it over to the user.

Operation and Installation Guide

  1.  The rope light can be cut every 1m at the point marked on the rope light by a pair of scissors or a broken line.

  2. The cut must be made by a sharp knife and at right angles to the rope. Incorrect cutting of the product can cause the final join to suffer from the poor electrical connection which can lead to product failure.

  3. The product can be reconnected in various ways by using the connectors provided.
    1. In-Line Coupler 2. Mains Connector 3. End Cap

  4. All connections MUST be sealed with the heat shrink provided to make a permanent join. Failure to use the heat shrink may result in the ingress of water and/or the breaking of the electrical connection leading to the possibility of electrical shock/product damage.

  5. The rope is suitable for use outside but if any connections are to be mounted outside or are to be exposed to any form of weathering then these connections must be additionally weatherproofed. The accessories supplied do NOT offer any form of IP-rated protection.

  6. The rope light should not be switched on while on the roll, in a tight coil or in very close proximity to other LED ropes. This can lead to overheating and damage to the product.

  7. The maximum achievable curve is 75mm. A curve of less than 75mm may stress the PVC sheath lead to product damage and Electrical failure.

  8. The product should NOT be mounted using staples, nails or metal fixings which can cause damage to the plastic sheath. Cable ties can be used but must not be over-tightened.

  9. Only the connectors supplied are suitable for this product. Further accessories are available on request. The use of alternative connectors may lead to poor electrical contact and product damage/failure. A list of these appears at the foot of this document.

  10.  The maximum single length that can be run from one power supply is 90m.

  11. The LED rope is polarity sensitive and will only work one way so if the product does not illuminate switch the contacts the other way by reversing the connection. To do this remove the power lead and rotate 180 Degrees and re-connect.

Maintenance
Periodically check the product for LED failure and general damage. If any of the LEDs have failed or the product is damaged in any way switch off and disconnect from the mains supply.
To clean the product, switch off and disconnect from the main supply. Using a slightly damp cloth gently wipe over. Do not use bleach, solvent-based cleaners, or strong detergents. These may damage the product and invalidate the warranty. If the mains lead is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorized service center.
If the mains plug needs to be replaced, proceed as follows:

  • Connect the brown wire to the terminal labeled “L”.
  • Connect the blue wire to the terminal labeled “N”.
  • Make sure that the cord grip is positioned correctly (over the outer sheath of the cable) and it fully tightened.
  • If the plug is fitted with a 13 A or 5 A fuse, replace it by a 3 A fuse.
