AUTO CALIBRE LF270.01
Exclusively developed by LAURENT FERRIER, the caliber LF 270.01 is the house’s
second automatic calendar movement. It subtly pairs a homage to our Natural
Escapement Micro-Rotor with a sportier, more assertive style, and has been
entirely designed, decorated, assembled, and adjusted in the LAURENT FERRIER
workshops.
This new caliber features a Swiss lever escapement and uses an automatic
winding system via an off-centered micro-rotor. A unidirectional ball bearing
replaces the traditional pawl system, giving this movement significant
benefits in terms of shock- and vibration resistance. The micro-rotor features
an oscillating weight made from 950 platinum, which is positioned directly
between the main plate and the rotor bridge to ensure ideal stability and
maximize its winding potential. When completely wound, this caliber offers a
power reserve of over 72 hours.
Careful attention to detail
A sapphire crystal case back reveals an impeccably finished movement whose
architecture echoes the main codes of the brand’s first automatic movement.
Every single caliber LF 270.01 requires over 139 manual finishing operations.
In particular, the bridge of the micro-rotor movement is meticulously
decorated by hand, with softened angles finished with Gentian wood and
Diamantine, and a mirror-polished surface. The movement also features several
interior angles, multiple zinc-polished surfaces, and many instances of satin
brushing and circular-graining, all produced by hand in the LAURENT FERRIER
workshops.
The ruthenium-treated bridges present a horizontal satin-brushed finish. These
decorative touches combine to give this automatic movement a dynamic look that
is as modern as it is intense. When paired with the dark hue of the grade 5
titanium adorning the bracelet and case, it enhances the sharp and sporty
style of this new exceptional timepiece.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Your timepiece is equipped with an automatic mechanical movement and has a
72-hour power reserve.
Special attention has been paid to the winding system, which is fitted with a
ball-shaped winding crown to ensure particularly smooth handling.
Crown positions:
Position 0: normal running position.
Position 1: manual winding position – crown unscrewed.
Position 2: rapid date correction position.
Position 3: hour and minute correction position.
To adjust or wind your timepiece, you will need to unscrew the crown by
turning it three or four times in an anti-clockwise direction. If your watch
has stopped, first wind your timepiece (position 1), then proceed to rapid
date correction by turning the crown in an anti-clockwise direction only
(position 2). Finally, set the time (position 3). Push the crown back into
position 1 after each time-setting operation and then screw it back down by
turning it clockwise to return it to its normal running position (position 0).
TIPS ON USE AND MAINTENANCE
Your LAURENT FERRIER timepiece is a sophisticated precision instrument that operates continually in a wide range of conditions. Like any high-precision instrument, it requires regular maintenance and particularly careful use.
Maintenance:
Given the complexity of LAURENT FERRIER movements and to maintain the validity
of your guarantee, any operations on your watch must be exclusively undertaken
by the LAURENT FERRIER Workshop. Please, therefore, send your watch to LAURENT
FERRIER SA or contact
aftersales@laurentferrier.ch. It is
difficult to determine the exact frequency of maintenance services required,
as this depends on the model, the climate, and the conditions of use.
Nonetheless, LAURENT FERRIER recommends a complete overhaul of its models
every four to five years.
LAURENT FERRIER offers two main types of maintenance service:
Standard maintenance service:
The frequency of this service largely depends on how often you use your
watch in an aquatic environment (see the chapter on Water-resistance). It
comprises:
- Cleaning and lubricating the escapement and the balance;
- Checking the movement operating parameters and the functions of the watch;
- Cleaning the case;
- Replacing all the seals and checking water-resistance.
Complete overhaul:
Overhaul to be done every five years to ensure that your timepiece continues
to operate correctly. It comprises:
- Overhauling the movement;
- Disassembling and cleaning components and replacing worn components;
- Assembling, lubricating, and adjusting;
- Refurbishing the case;
- Replacing all the seals and checking water resistance.
Water-resistance:
LAURENT FERRIER Sport Auto watches are currently tested to withstand pressure
at a depth of 120 meters. While a water-resistant watch can be worn while
swimming, it must not be used when jumping from a diving board or during water
sports, when there is a high risk of impacts. If used extensively in an
aquatic environment, we recommend that you have the water resistance of your
watch checked once a year. In the event of occasional use, this service should
be performed every two years.
Special recommendations:
What should I do to ensure my LAURENT FERRIER watch continues to serve me well
for many years?
- Avoid impacts, vibrations, and crushing;
- Refrain from placing your watch on loudspeakers or refrigerators, as they generate powerful magnetic fields;
- Thoroughly rinse the titanium case and bracelet in warm water every time your watch is immersed in seawater;
- To keep your water-resistant watch looking its best, we recommend cleaning it with a toothbrush soaked in soapy water and then rinse it thoroughly with clear water;
- Make sure the crown is screwed back down against the side of the case to avoid compromising the watch’s water resistance;
- Avoid exposing your watch to extreme temperatures or to sudden changes in temperature.
