Sound and vibration
Sound and vibration values were measured in accordance with EN 60745.

- KpA uncertainty ……………………………………… 3 dB
- LWA sound power level ………………… 95.36 dB(A)

Wear ear-muff s.
The impact of noise can cause damage to hearing.
Total vibration values (vector sum of three directions) determined in
accordance with EN 60745.
- Vibration emission value ah = 3.106 m/s2
- K uncertainty = 1.5 m/s2
The specifi ed vibration value was established in accordance with a
standardized testing method. It may change according to how the electric
equip-ment is used and may exceed the specified value in exceptional
circumstances.
The specifi ed vibration value can be used to compare the equipment with other
electric power tools. The specifi ed vibration value can be used for the
initial assessment of a harmful effect.
Keep the noise emissions and vibrations to a minimum.
- Only use appliances that are in perfect working order.
- Service and clean the appliance regularly.
- Adapt your working style to suit the appliance.
- Do not overload the appliance.
- Have the appliance serviced whenever ne-cessary?
- Switch the appliance off when it is not in use.
- Wear protective gloves.
Caution!
Residual risks
Even if you use this electric power tool in accordance with instructions,
certain residual risks cannot be ruled out. The following hazards may arise in
connection with the equipment’s construction and layout:
- Damage to hearing if no suitable ear protection is used.
- Health damage is caused by hand-arm vibrations if the equipment is used over a prolonged period or is not properly guided and maintained.
Before starting the equipment
Before you connect the equipment to the mains supply make sure that the data
on the rating plate are identical to the mains data.
Warning!
Always pull the power plug before making adjustments to the equipment.
Fitting the cuttings collector (Figure 3a-3d)
For horizontal cutting, we recommend that you install the cuttings collector.
This enables you to remove the cuttings easily. The surface of the hedge thus
remains clear (Fig. 3a/3b). Position the cuttings collector (9) on the cutter
rail (Figure 3c). Then push the cuttings collector as far as possible towards
the tip of the cutter rail and secure it with the fastening screws (8) (Figure
3d).
Rear swiveling handle (Figure 3e)
The hedge trimmer is fitted with a rear swiveling handle. It can be turned
counter-clockwise and clockwise through both 45° and 90°. To do so, you must fi
rst retract the lock (A) and hold. Then turn the handle and release the lock.
If you turn it clockwise or counter-clockwise, the handle will lock at an
angle of 45° and 90°. To return the handle to its original position, pull the
lock (A) back again and hold. When the hand-le is back in its standard
position, release the lock again.
Caution! Make sure that the handle engages.
Operation
The hedge trimmer is equipped with a two-handed safety switch. The equipment
works only when the switch on the steady grip (Figure 4 / Item A) is pressed
with one hand and the switch on the handle (Figure 4 / Item B) is pressed with
the other hand. If either switch is released, the cutters will stop moving.
Please watch out for the cutters as they slow down to a standstill.
- Please check that the cutters work properly. The twin-bladed cutters rotate in opposite directions, thus guaranteeing high cutting performance and smooth operation.
- Before use, fasten the extension cable in the stress-relief clip (see Fig. 4).
- When working outdoors, use extension cables that are approved for the purpose.
Notes on working practice
- A hedge trimmer can be used to cut shrubs and bushes as well as hedges.
- To obtain the best cutting results, hold the hedge trimmer so that the cutter teeth are at an angle of approx. 15° in relation to the hedge (see Figure 5).
- The twin-bladed cutters rotate in opposite directions, thus enabling cutting in both directions (see Figure 6).
- It is recommended to tie a guide line of string or the like along the hedge so that you cut the hedge to a level height. Cut off all branches which protrude beyond the guide line (see Figure 7).
- Cut the sides of the hedge with curve-shaped movements from the bottom up (see Figure 8).
Replacing the power cable
Danger!
If the power cable for this equipment is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or its after-sales service or similarly trained personnel to
avoid danger.
Cleaning, maintenance and ordering of spare parts
Danger!
Always pull out the mains power plug before star-ting any cleaning work.
Cleaning
- Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.
- We recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.
- Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could at-tack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensu-re that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.
Maintenance
- The cutters should be cleaned and lubricated at regular intervals in order to ensure best performance at all times. Remove deposits with a brush and apply a thin film of oil (see Figure 9).
- There are no parts inside the equipment which require additional maintenance.
