Getting to know EcoPort Ethernet-Modbus
Your new EcoPort Ethernet-Modbus module allows your device to communicate to
the internet so that both you, and optionally your utility, can monitor it and
send information to your device remotely.

RESET: A button which can be pressed to factory reset the device.

Review the requirements
To get started, you will need:
- Your EcoPort Ethernet-Modbus module
- Your Smart Grid Device that has a CTA-2045 Ecoport
- A Philips head screwdriver
Read and follow all of the instructions, cautions, and warnings in this manual.
Install EcoPort Ethernet-Modbus
- Plug the EcoPort Ethernet-Modbus into the port on your Smart Grid Device (SGD). It will only fit one way. You can match the connector and the screw holes.
- Secure Ethernet-Modbus with the thumb screws provided.
Participation in your Utility Energy Management Program
The EcoPort Ethernet-Modbus module enables your Smart Grid Devices to be
informed of power grid conditions and to respond intelligently. If EcoPort
EthernetModbus module is installed, and your Smart Grid Device (SGD) is
enabled to support this feature, your SGD is ready to help support the power
grid.
Your utility’s energy management program may collectively optimize power use
when necessary to support the power grid.
The result is a more efficient and reliable system.
This also helps maintain lower electricity rates.
All SGD’s are supposed to have a method that allows you to connect or
disconnect to the grid. It is generally called “Grid Enabled.” If you would
like to participate in your utility program, please ensure this is enabled.
