General Safety Information
- Before installing, servicing, or performing routine maintenance upon this equipment, follow these general precautions.
- To reduce the risk of death, personal injury or property damage from fire, electric shock, falling parts, cuts/abrasions, and other hazards read all warnings and instructions included with and on the fixture box and all fixtures labels.
- Commercial installation, service, and maintenance of luminaires should be performed by a qualified licensed electrician.
- For Residential installation: If you are unsure about the installation or maintenance of the luminaires, consult a qualified licensed electrician, and check your local electrical code
- DO NOT INSTALL DAMAGED PRODUCTS!
- This fixture is intended to be connected to a properly installed and grounded UL-listed junction box.
WARNING: RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK
- Turn off the electrical power at the fuse or circuit breaker box before wiring the fixture to the power supply.
- Verify that the supply voltage is correct by comparing it with the luminaire label information.
- Make all electrical and grounded connections in accordance with the National Electrical Code and any applicable local code requirements.
- All wiring connections should be capped with UL-approved wire connectors.
CAUTION:
- Don’t replace any accessory to prevent dropping, electric shock, or fire. etc.
- Always switch off the mains supply. 5-10 minutes later replace the lamp after the used lamp has cooled down.
- Lamps should only be used in a protective shield!
CAUTION: RISK OF INJURY
- Avoid direct eye exposure to the light source while it is on.
- Account for small parts and destroy packing material, as these may be hazardous to children.
- Consult a qualified electrician to ensure the correct branch circuit conductor.
- This product must be installed in accordance with the applicable installation code by a person familiar with the construction and operation of the product and the hazards involved.

- Keep combustible and other materials that can burn away from the luminaire.

Selecting Wattage & Color Temperature
- Begin by selecting the desired wattage and color temperature for your application.
Retrofit Installation
CAUTION: Turn off electrical power at fuse or circuit breaker box before
wiring fixture to the power supply.
- Remove existing lamp and reflector. If existing trim or can are present, remove from the ceiling or move it out of the way. Make sure to retain existing rough-in kit components. (Fig. 1)
- Measure the ceiling opening and ensure the edge of the downlight retrofit will cover the entire hole and sit firmly in the ceiling.
- Attach the carabiner safety lanyard to the existing fixture housing. (Fig. 2)
- Remove the junction box faceplate. Disconnect wiring to existing ballast. Remove appropriate knockout on junction box.
- Connect incoming AC mains power to fixture input leads. Insert the downlight conduit into the J-box and wire it to the power source (black to hot, white to neutral, violet to -10V dimming positive, pink to 0-10V dimming negative). Reattach the box cover when done. (The grounding of the overall system shall be done in accordance with NEC and local codes). (Fig. 3)
- Bend the spring clips upward so they are in upright and insert downlight into the hole in the ceiling/housing. (Fig. 4)
- Once the downlight is inside the ceiling and housing, release the spring clips and push the fixture up into the ceiling until securely fixed and flush with the ceiling (rotating the own light may be necessary to properly engage the spring clips and ensure a secure fit). (Fig. 5)
- For additional safety, connect the safety cable onto the ceiling/housing where applicable.
- Restore power at the source. The installation is complete. (Fig. 6)
New Construction Installation
CAUTION: Turn off electrical power at fuse or circuit breaker box before
wiring fixture to the power supply.
- If using a new construction plate, install it in the ceiling first.
- If a new hole is needed, cut the hole according to the downlight cut-out dimension or “Ceiling Cut-out Template” per model number. (Fig. 7)
- Attach the carabiner safety lanyard to secure place inside the ceiling. (Fig. 8)
- Remove the junction box faceplate. Disconnect wiring to existing ballast. Remove appropriate knockout on junction box.
- Connect incoming AC mains power to fixture input leads. Insert the downlight conduit into the J-box and wire it to the power source (black to hot, white to neutral, violet to 0- 0V dimming positive, pink to 0-10V dimming negative). Reattach the J-box cover when done. (Fig. 9)

Warranty Information
MaxLite Inc. warrants its products for a minimum period of FIVE (5) years from
the date of original purchase from MaxLite or its authorized
distributor/dealer (the “Warranty Period”), as follows: If a Product fails to
operate during the Warranty Period as a result of defects in materials or
workmanship, MaxLite will, at its option, repair it, replace it with
the same or like Product.

Limitation of Liability
THE FOREGOING WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVE, AND IS THE SOLE REMEDY FOR ANY AND ALL
CLAIMS, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, IN TORT, OR OTHERWISE ARISING FROM THE FAILURE OF
THE PRODUCT AND IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,
INCLUDING ALL WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
PURPOSE, WHICH WARRANTIES ARE HEREBY EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED TO THE EXTENT
PERMITTED BY LAW AND, IN ANY EVENT, SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE WARRANTY PERIOD
SPECIFIED ABOVE. THE LIABILITY OF MAXLITE SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE TERMS OF THE
EXPRESS WARRANTY SET FORTH HEREIN. IN NO EVENT WILL MAX LITE BE LIABLE FOR ANY
SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION,
DAMAGES RESULTING FROM LOSS OF USE, PROFITS, BUSINESS OR GOODWILL, LABOR
COSTS, REMOVAL OR INSTALLATION COSTS, DECREASE IN THE LIGHT OUTPUT OF THE
LAMP, AND/OR DETERIORATION IN THE LAMP’S PERFORMANCE, WHETHER OR NOT MAXLITE
HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY THEREOF. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL
MAXLITE’S ENTIRE LIABILITY FOR A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT EXCEED THE PURCHASE PRICE
OF THAT PRODUCT. WARRANTY SERVICES PROVIDED UNDER THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
DO NOT ENSURE THE UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION OF PRODUCTS; MAXLITE SHALL NOT BE
LIABLE FOR DAMAGES CAUSED BY ANY DELAYS INVOLVING WARRANTY SERVICE.
This Limited Warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have
other rights that may vary from state to state. Because some states or
jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for
consequential or incidental damages, this limitation may not apply to you.
