PAC RP4.2-HY11 RadioPRO4 Radio Replacement Interface for Select Hyundai
Vehicles
Introduction and Features
The RP4.2-HY11 interface allows the replacement of a factory radio in select Hyundai vehicles. Using this interface will retain factory features such as: steering wheel controls (SWC), secondary screens, reverse camera and factory SPDIFaudio amplifier (separate part required, part # RPA-SPDIF) whenever the original radio is removed. Use of this interface also allows you to program two radio functions to each SWC button by using short press long press dual command functionality. The RP4.2-HY11 also provides data bus-driven outputs such as vehicle speed sense (VSS), illumination, reverse trigger and parking brake. The RPA-SPDIF is an analog to SPDIF converter designed for use with select RadioPRO interfaces. This the module will convert analog audio from an aftermarket radio to the SPDIF signal used by some factory amplifiers.
MODULE OVERVIEW
INSTALLATION STEPS
-
Connect the 10-pin harness to the RPA-SPDIF.
-
Connect the speaker inputs of the RPA-SPDIF harness.
- When using with an RP5.2 module, simply plug the 12-pin connector into the amplified audio output of the interface.
- When using an RP4.2 module, you will need to cut off the 12-pin connector and wire the right and left speaker inputs to the front speaker outputs of the aftermarket radio.
-
Connect the 6-pin plug on the RPA-SPDIF (Fig 1) harness to the 6-pin plug on the RadioPRO harness (Fig 2).
-
Turn the Gain Adjustment dial on the RPA-SPDIF all the way to the left (counterclockwise).
-
Turn on the aftermarket radio and set the volume to about 2/3 max volume.
-
Begin turning the Gain Adjustment knob on the RPA-SPDIF to the right (clockwise). Do this until the red clipping LED begins flashing.
-
Once the red LED has turned on, turn the Gain Adjustment knob on the RPA-SPDIF
slightly to the left (counterclockwise) until the red LED goes off. -
Turn off the aftermarket radio and secure the RPA-SPDIF to the radio harness. Installation of the RPA-SPDIF is now complete.
Important Notes
-
These instructions apply to R.01.0.17 or later revisions. The revision info can be found on a small white sticker on the interface
and packaging. -
Not compatible in any car with factory navigation.
-
Does not retain Blue Link.
-
The Hyundai Veloster requires the RP4.2-HY12.
-
You must connect the HS-CAN wires at the ODBII connector to receive nav signals (reverse, parking brake, VSS) or the programmable trigger options (foot brake, various vehicle triggers). If you do not require these signals then it is not necessary to connect these wires.
-
The AUX connection in the RP4 harness will only provide sound if the aftermarket radio has a USB port. This is because the USB port provides the power to make the factory USB / AUX port work. If you have connected the USB plug to your aftermarket radio and it is still inoperable, this means that the aftermarket radio’s USB port is not supplying enough current.
-
When using the RPA-SPDIF in factory amplified vehicles, you can adjust factory amplifier settings such as Bass, Mid, Treble, Fader, Balance and Gain with the RadioPRO app found at www.pac-audio.com. Please refer to page 6 for detailed instructions on the app and the functionality of the Red / White wire.

The following vehicles have a speed based Parking Brake output that will automatically disengage once the vehicle is going over 3 MPH: 2010-2014 Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Accent
-
In the following vehicles the external screen will power up and display “Aux”. You will also lose the ability to set the factory clock: Genesis Coupe, 2010-2014 Hyundai Sonata
-
In the following vehicles, the external screen will power up and display “Hyundai”. The climate control display will also be retained: Hyundai Azera

Steering Wheel Control Re-Calibration
SWC re-calibration is necessary when the SWC operation in vehicles with analog
SWC is erratic or non-existent. This process re-calibrates the SWC values to
the RP4 interface so it will know what they can be set to for button function
assignment. The B interface must be programmed in the specific order shown in
the chart on the next page. If you come across a function in the chart that
your steering wheel does not have you must press and release the program
button on the side of the interface to skip that function. The LED will flash
off and on confirming that you have successfully skipped that function and are
ready to proceed to the next one. The SWC and radio command assignments can
always be restored to default values by entering re-calibration mode (Steps
1-2) and not pressing any buttons. After 7 seconds the re-calibration mode
will time out and all default values will be restored.
