Harley Single Fire Coil Wiring Diagram Dayton Twin Tec
CAUTION: CAREFULLY READ INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE PROCEEDING.
OVERVIEW
The Twin Tec P/N 2005 coil is 50 states street legal (ARB E.O. No. D-641-2) for use with the following Harley-Davidson motorcycle models:
- All 1984-1999 Evolution 1340cc Big Twin
- 1986-1993 XLH 883cc and 1986-1987 XLH 1100cc Sportster
Do not use this coil for any breaker points,Dyna-S series, or Harley-Davidson® Twin Cam 88® applications.
INSTALLATION

Turn off the ignition switch and disconnect the battery ground cable before proceeding.

For Twin Tec ignitions, use the hookup shown in Figure 1 or 2. You can use the same hookup for Crane and Dyna modules except that the wire color codes are different:
Crane HI-4 Series-
Front Cylinder Coil- Black

Rear Cylinder Coil- White
-
Coil+ (Module Power) Red
Dyna 2000 Series -
Front Cylinder Coil- Blue

Rear Cylinder Coil- Pink
-
Coil+ (Module Power) White

Apply silicone dielectric grease to the coil terminals to reduce corrosion and prevent arcing. Make surethat the plug wires have tight fitting boots and theproper size terminals. If your motorcycle is still equipped with the original carbon core suppressionplug wires, this is a good time to consider a high quality spiral core wire set such as the Twin Tec P/N 3003 universal set.
WARNING: To avoid ignition systemdamage from coil arcing, never crank the engine while any spark plug wire is disconnected. Do not touch or connect any test equipment, including a timing light, to the coil while the engine is running.
