ZEISS A1-2000 Viscoject-Bio 1.8 Cartridge Set
Product Information
The AT. Shooter A1-2000 is a device used in conjunction with the VISCOJECT-BIO 1.8 cartridge set for handling non-preloaded ZEISS MICS IOLs (intraocular lenses). It is designed to assist in the preparation and implantation of these lenses during ocular surgeries. The VISCOJECT-BIO 1.8 cartridge set contains cartridges that hold the lenses, as well as a plunger with a blue silicone tip for pushing the lens forward during implantation. It is important to note that Carl Zeiss Meditec recommends the use of ZEISS OVDs (ophthalmic vis surgical devices) with this product.
Product Usage Instructions
- Place a small amount of OVD (ophthalmic vis surgical device) in the tip of the cartridge. Also, apply a line of OVD in each channel of the cartridge, taking care not to touch the front tip of the cartridge.
- Gently pull the lens from its holder using forceps with fine tips. Avoid letting the IOL dry up and do not use fluid from a bottle for ocular irrigation.
- Position the lens in the center of the opened cartridge. For high diopter toric IOLs, pay attention to the meridian marks.
- While closing the cartridge, maintain the IOL in place with folding forceps. Close the cartridge until you hear a click. Ensure that the lens is properly positioned within the channel and that the haptic (supporting structure) is freely movable.
- Mount the tip holder onto the shooter tip. Insert the plunger into the recess of the blue silicone tip and retract the plunger to remove the tip from its holder.
- Place the cartridge into the loading dock of the shooter and push it forward.
- Gently push the plunger with the blue silicone tip mounted on it straight into the cartridge channel to start pushing the lens forward.
- Check the correct positioning of the lens. Gently push the lens forward until it becomes visible in the tip of the cartridge.
- Begin the implantation of the lens.

Preparing non-preloaded ZEISS MICS IOLs for use.
- Place a small amount of OVD* in the cartridge tip. Place a line of OVD in each channel of the cartridge.
- Do not touch the front tip of the cartridge.
- Pull the lens gently from its holder using forceps with fine tips. Do not let the IOL dry up. Do not use the fluid from the bottle for ocular irrigation.
- Place the lens in the center of the opened cartridge. For high diopter toric IOLs, mind the meridian marks.
- Maintain the IOL in place with the folding forceps while closing the cartridge. Close the cartridge until you hear a click.
- Control the position of the lens within the channel of the closed cartridge. Haptic must be freely movable.
- Mount the tip holder onto the shooter tip.
- Insert the plunger into the recess of the blue silicone tip and remove the tip from its holder by retracting the plunger. Place the cartridge into the loading dock of the shooter and push it forward. Check the correct positioning of the lens. Gently push forward the lens until it becomes visible in the tip of the cartridge. Start implantation of the lens.
- Gently push the plunger with the blue silicone tip mounted on it straight into the cartridge channel and start to push the lens forward.
