Focus ring
Slide to change the focus method (Fig. 1) (manual focus clutch mechanism).
- Position in which distance or magnification indicator cannot be seen (Fig. 1-A)
- The lens will operate in the focus mode set by the camera.
- Position in which distance and magnification indicators can be seen (Fig. 1-B)
- The lens will operate in the MF mode, regardless of the focus mode set by the camera.
- Focus by rotating the lens focus ring.
- The focus will be within the range of the shooting distance set with the focus limiter switch.

To remove the hood, rotate it while pressing the release button.
IS switch
Turn image stabilization (IS) on or off.
ON: Stabilizing functions in the lens and camera operation. The IS operates
according to the IS setting in the camera.
OFF: Stabilizing functions in both the lens and The camera are off.
L-Fn button
The AF stops functioning when the button is pressed. You may be able to assign
other functions depending on your camera. For details, see the instruction
manual that came with your camera.
Focus limiter switch
Sets the range of the photographing distance. Focusing is done within the
range that is set. If performing exposure compensation using an external light
meter, refer to the table below. Exposure compensation is unnecessary when
using the camera’s automatic exposure mode. (a): S-MACRO 0.25-0.5m / (c):
0.25m-) When the focus limiter switch is in position (c), the shooting
distance is 0.25m-)
Notes on Shooting
Please use the latest firmware for the camera. Operations will vary depending
on the camera. For more information, please visit our home page. Contact the
other manufacturer to mount the lens on another manufacturer’s digital camera.
- Edges of pictures may be cut off if more than one filter is used or if a thick filter is used.
- When using a flash, the flashlight may be blocked by the lens body, lens hood, etc.
- Usage conditions may lower the number of images that can be captured.
- Do not touch electric contacts on cameras.
- If autofocus (AF) is unavailable, check the sliding position of the focus ring.
- The focus distance may change when the focusing method is switched from MF to AF/ MF and then back to MF. Readjust the focus distance.
- The distance and magnification indicators are intended as a guide only.
