Product Information

The OM-5 is a compact camera designed for portability and flexibility. It features a weather-sealed design that is dustproof, splashproof, and freezeproof. The camera has a system weight of 1,050g and can be carried easily, making it perfect for photography adventures. The camera comes with a Super Control Panel (SCP) that enables quick access to all shooting options. All settings can be adjusted easily using the SCP, and the touchscreen makes operation easy and comfortable.

Product Usage

To use the OM-5, follow these steps:

  1. Overview: Familiarize yourself with the camera’s front side, backside top view, side view right, and side view left. The camera has a mode dial lock, shutter button, front dial, preview button, and lens release button.
  2. Super Control Panel: Use the SCP to access all shooting options quickly. Press the OK button to activate the SCP as an overlay. If you’re shooting with the viewfinder, press the Live View Button to display the SCP.
  3. Modes: The OM-5 has several modes, including PASM B C, ART SCN, and AUTO. Choose the mode that best suits your needs.
  4. Autofocus and Computational Features: The camera features several autofocus and computational features, including AF, Live ND, Handheld Hi-Res Starry Sky AF, Focus Stacking, and Pro Capture. Experiment with these features to get the best shots.

Super Control Panel Photo

All shooting options can be accessed via the Super Control Panel (SCP). It enables a quick and comfortable way to get an overview of all settings and an easy way to adjust them. You activate the SCP as an overlay by pressing the OK button. If you shoot with the viewfinder, you can display the SCP by pressing the Live View Button. Modes

The mode dial is the main control of your camera and defines in which shooting mode you are working. Here you can decide how your camera should work and support your shooting style. Decide whether you would like to work in fully automatic mode or completely manual. PALM

P Mode: Use the P mode when you would like to let the camera decide on the aperture and exposure time. However, you have always the option to overrule the settings.

A Mode: Use A mode when you would like to control the aperture and the depth of field in the image. You don’t have to worry about the shutter speed as the camera is choosing the one fitting to your aperture. by OM SYSTEM Ambassador Daniel Villadsen

S Mode: Use S mode when you would like to control the shutter speed in case you are shooting fast moving object. You don’t have to worry about the aperture as the camera is choosing the one fitting to your shutter speed.

M Mode: For total control choose the M Mode. In this mode, you select shutter speed and aperture as you want. The OM-5 shows in the viewfinder and/or monitors how the exposure of the final image will look like, that you are able to control the result before you take the image.

B Mode: The B Mode gives a quick and easy access to the “Live Modes“:The camera shows you how the images develops and you can stop exposure as soon as it is well exposed.

  • Live Composite” only adds composites of the sections with changes in brightness.
  • Live Bulb” keeps the shutter open while the shutter release button is pressed.
  • Live Time” opens the shutter on the first push and closes it on the second push of the shutter release button.

C Mode: C mode is a memory slot that give you quick and easy access to your individual settings. It can be customized to your needs.
