INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

We recommend installation be performed by a professional. An assistant is recommended. Installation may vary if not being installed on an OEM trunk lid.

  1. Clean the top surface of the trunk

  2. Assemble the wing, stands, and mounting plates using the M6 bolts and nuts. The angle of the wing and tilt of the stands does not matter at this point. Just make sure to use the same holes on right and left side. Note the placement of the stands in reference to the wing mounts and base plates. The stands are attached to the inner surface of both the wing mounts and base plates. Failure to follow this positioning we result in incorrect positioning of the base plates when mounting to the trunk.rmk-design-RMK-05-GW01S-01-Dry-Carbon-GT-Wing-Kit-2

  3. Open the trunk and remove the inner liner on the underside of the trunk

  4. On the top surface of the trunk lay down painter’s tape in the general area where the wing will be mounted.

  5. Using a sharpie, mark the center of the circle on the areas shown on the underside of the trunk. The distance between these holes should be ~16 13/16ths inches or ~427mm. Verify this to be the same distance between the inner front holes on the base plates.rmk-design-RMK-05-GW01S-01-Dry-Carbon-GT-Wing-Kit-4

  6. Use a center punch to mark where you will be drilling.

  7. Drill a small pilot hole for each mark We suggest starting with a pilot hole for each for verification before going to the actual hole size.

  8. Close the trunk, and place the wing assembly on the trunk to ensure your holes line up with the holes in the base plates.

  9. Once verified, set the wing assembly aside and enlarge the holes with a 15/64 drill bit or to ~5.9mm.

  10. Set the wing assembly back onto the trunk and secure with M6 hardware.

  11. Mark the remaining six holes using the base mount plates as your guide.

  12. Remove the wing assembly from the trunk.

  13. Center punch the six marked spots. Drill small pilot holes Be mindful of the drill depth for the four rearward holes as the bottom side of the trunk has layers.

  14. Place the wing assembly back onto the trunk to verify the position of all the holes.

  15. Remove the wing assembly and drill the holes using a 15/64 bit or ~5.9mm.

  16. Clean the holes, top and bottom from debris.

  17. Remove the painter’s tape on the top side of the trunk

  18. Attach the supplied foam pads to each base mount plate. The adhesive side should be attached to the base mount plate, not the trunk. There is a left and a right foam pad.

  19. Place the wing assembly back on the trunk and secure with the supplied M6 hardware. Torque to recom mended spec.
NOTE: spec may vary if not attaching to an OEM metal trunk, in which case use your best descretion.

  20. Attach the wing plates using the supplied M8 bolts and countersunk washers. Hand tighten or torque to recommended spec. Do not over-tighten.

  21. Now, tilt of the stands and angle of wing can be adjusted to desired position. When satisfied, torque M6 hardware to recommended spec.

  22. Use soap and water or a quick detailer-type product to clean the entire wing assembly.

  23. Re-install the inner trunk lid liner.rmk-design-RMK-05-GW01S-01-Dry-Carbon-GT-Wing-Kit-5
