OTO-BIM-12-Bit-Delay-Unit-Power-Supply-PRODUCT

Specifications

  • Model: BIM Revision 1.5 / 2.5 (January 2024)
  • New Features: Sample Rate Reducer (SRR), TAP Tempo MIDI CC assignment, Dimmable switch brightness
  • Bug Fixes : Correct delay time under 55 BPM

Product Usage Instructions

New Features

New FX Type – SAMPLE RATE REDUCER (SRR):
The SRR FX recreates a specific bug effect by controlling the sample rate from 20 kHz to 2 kHz using the DELAY potentiometer. TAP

MIDI CC No. 93 – TAP Tempo:
MIDI CC no. 93 is assigned to TAP Tempo, where each CC no. 93 sent to BIM is equivalent to pressing the TAP switch.

Dimmable Switch Brightness:
Dim the brightness of the 8 switches by pressing the FX TYPE switch while powering BIM on. Use the DATA pot to control brightness in 4 steps, and the setting is saved in memory.

Bug Fixes

BUG FIX: Tapping a Tempo under 55 BPM now sets the correct delay time.

BIM REVISION 1.5 / 2.5 (January 2024)

NEW FEATURES

  • New FX Type: SAMPLE RATE REDUCER (SRR).
  • The FX TYPE parameter has now 7 settings: Normal, Dual, Disto, Lo-Fi, Reverse, Thru, and SRR.
  • The SRR FX recreates a bug that sometimes appeared after switching BIM on or when tapping a slow tempo.
  • The DELAY pot controls the sample rate from 20 kHz (DELAY pot at zero) down to 2 kHz (DELAY pot full). The TAP Tempo and MIDI Beat Clock sync are not active when SRR is selected.
  1. MIDI CC no. 93 is assigned to the TAP Tempo.
The CC value has no effect, each CC no. 93 sent to BIM is equivalent to pressing the TAP switch.

  2. You can dim the brightness of the 8 switches.
Press FX TYPE switch while powering BIM on.
The DATA pot now controls the brightness in 4 steps.
When you are ok with the brightness, switch BIM off and on.
This setting is kept in memory.
The brightness dim function is not applied on the submenus (Active mode, Display mode,…), the Preset save mode, and the MIDI menu.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • On previous revisions, when you tap a Tempo on the TAP switch, the Quarter Note was automatically selected.
  • You can deactivate this feature (called « TAP Mode ») by pressing TAP and DIVISION switches while powering BIM on.
  • Each time you press TAP and DIVISION switches while powering BIM on, the « TAP Mode » is alternatively set to ON or OFF. This setting is kept in memory.
  • On previous revisions, unused spaces of RAM were not cleared when you changed the RANGE setting when you tapped a new tempo, or when you loaded presets.
  • This can lead to the replay of old sounds (called « ghost sounds ») that can be annoying or creative, depending on the situation.
  • You can now decide to keep these « ghost sounds » or not by pressing the DIVISION switch while powering BIM on.
  • Each time you press the DIVISION switches while powering BIM on, the « Ghost Mode » is alternatively set to ON or OFF. This setting is kept in memory.

On previous revisions, the first displayed preset number after startup was always 1.1, regardless of the last preset loaded or saved before BIM was turned off.
The number of the last preset loaded or saved before BIM was turned off is displayed when you press PRESET after a power-up.
This is useful if you want to know which preset was used before BIM was turned off.

BUG FIX

mapping a Tempo under 55 BPM now sets the correct delay time.

BIM REVISION 1.4 / 2.4 (April 2021)

BUG FIX:
MIDI CC and PGM CHGE messages were not working well under certain circumstances.

BIM REVISION 1.3 / 2.3 (April 2018)

NEW FEATURES

  • New FX Types: REVERSE and THRU.
The FX TYPE parameter has now 6 settings: Normal, Dual, Disto, Lo-Fi, Reverse, and Thru.
REVERSE simply reads the content of the Delay backward, with short fade-in and fadeout to avoid « click » noises.
THRU lets you use the whole BIM circuitry (input gain, filters, and 12-bit AD & DA conversion) but without delay. RATE, DEPTH, and F-BACK pots are inactive in this mode.

TAP DISPLAY: The TAP tempo display can be set to ON or OFF.

  • This setting is accessible by pressing the TAP switch while powering BIM on.
  • Each time you press the TAP switch while powering BIM on, the TAP display is alternatively set to ON or OFF. This setting is kept in memory.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • Improvement of the accuracy of TAP tempo, MIDI beat clock, and FREEZE.
  • TAP tempo has better behavior, the tempo is captured after 2 taps.
  • The synchronization of delay times when using MIDI Beat Clock is improved.
  • Please note that due to the technology used in BIM, it’s not possible to get the FREEZE function perfectly synced for a long time.

BUG FIXES

  • AUX mode: Spillover and Aux mode were not working well, especially after changing the ACTIVE mode parameter or after a preset load.
  • The delay time was unstable for a short time after a MIDI stop and play, thus creating some audio artifacts. Now the delay time is not reset after a MIDI Play or Stop.
  • The TAP Tempo display was not effective in the « TAP to LFO » and « TAP to BOTH » modes.
  • IN GAIN parameter was corrupted after a « TAP to LFO ».
  • LFO Division » was not working after a change in setting. Needed to tap the tempo again.

FAQ

  • Q: How can I check the last preset used before turning off BIM?
    • A: Press the PRESET button after powering up BIM, and it will display the number of the last preset loaded or saved before turning off.
