Tuningsworld 1973-1987 Rear Flip Kit
BEFORE INSTALLATION
- All modifications must be installed by qualified personnel and in compliance with your local modification regulations.
- Keep all stock hardware in case they need to be reused in later installation.
- Drilling and cutting are required. Always wear safety glasses or safety masks when using power tools and cutters.
- This rear flip kit will lower your vehicle by 6”. Please note the amount of the drop is a base figure due to payload options and initial ride height difference. Final ride height may vary according to the original vehicle’s attitude. Always measure the original height before installation.
KIT CONTENTS
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Remove the vehicle bed. Jack the vehicle and remove the rear tyres and wheels. Support the rear end frame with a cart or jack stands. Have the rear axle secured with straps.
- Loosen the factory U-bolts and the shock bottom bolts.
- With the leaf springs clamped, loosen the nut and bolt located in them. Next, flip the bolt and reinsert it into the leaf springs to allow the flip bracket to line up properly. Please see the below drawings. Do the same thing on the opposite side.
- Place the flip bracket on the upper side of the leaf springs and line up the hole with the bolt head on the leaf springs. Please note the hole on the flip bracket should be towards the front. Next, place the rear axle over the top of the flip bracket. Slowly lower the axle to make sure it lines up with the flip bracket properly. Do the same thing on the opposite side.
- Place the plate on the lower side of the leaf spring and make sure it is flush-centred with the rear axle and the leaf springs. Next, slide the U-bolts provided down through the top frame of the axle and the holes of the plate and then followed by a washer and a nut on each leg of the U-bolts. Torque to spec. Do the same thing on the opposite side.
- Install the C-notches. Use our C-notch as a guide and mark the vehicle frame where needs to be cut off. Cut off the frame with a grinder.
- Put a new C-notch on as a guide and drill new holes. Install the new C- notch with the provided bolts and nuts. Torque all bolts to specs. Do the same thing on the opposite side.
- Put a new C-notch on as a guide and drill new holes. Install the new C- notch with the provided bolts and nuts. Torque all bolts to specs. Do the same thing on the opposite side.
MAINTENANCE
Highly suggest drivers check the fastener after the first 30 miles and then inspect the nuts and bolts for tightness regularly.
