Warnings and Precautions
- Please consult your physician if you see symptoms such as unexplained irritability, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, changes in appetite or activity, seizure, muscle pain, shivering, stiff neck, pain when urinating, etc. in spite of any colour of the background light or absence of fever.
- Please consult your physician if the thermometer shows elevated temperature (yellow or red background lights).
-
The operating ambient temperature range for this thermometer is 50°F(10°C ) -104°F(40°C). Do not expose the thermometer to temperature extremes (below -4°F(-20°C) / or over 131°F(55°C )) or excessive humidity (>95% RH).
-
This thermometer must only be used with Disposable Hygiene Caps. To avoid inaccurate measurements always use this thermometer with a new, clean Hygiene cap attached.
-
03 If the thermometer is accidentally used without a Hygiene cap attached, clean the lens (see “Care and cleaning” section). Keep Hygiene caps out of reach of children.
-
This thermometer is intended for household use only. This product is not intended to diagnose any disease, but is a useful screening tool for temperature.
Use of this thermometer is not intended as a substitute for consultation with your doctor. -
Do not modify this equipment without authorization of the manufacturer.
-
Parents/guardians should call the pediatrician upon noticing any unusual sign(s) or symptom(s). For example, a child who exhibits irritability, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, seizure, changes in appetite or activity, even in the absence of fever,
or who exhibits a low temperature, may still need to receive medical attention. -
Children who are on antibiotics, analgesics, or antipyretics should not be assessed solely on temperature readings to determine the severity of their illness.
-
Temperature elevation as indicated by Age Precision may signal a serious illness, especially in adults who are old, frail, have a weakened immune system, or neonates and infants. Please seek professional advice immediately when there is a temperature elevation and if you are taking temperature on:
- neonates and infants under 3 months (consult your doctor immediately if the temperature exceeds 99.4 °F or 37.4 °C)
- patients over 60 years of age
- patients having diabetes mellitus or a weakened immune system (e.g. HIV positive, cancer chemotherapy, chronic steroid treatment, splenectomy) patients who are bedridden (e.g. nursing home patient, stroke, chronic illness, recovering from surgery)
- a transplant patient (e.g. liver, heart, lung, kidney)Fever may be blunted or even absent in elderly patients.
-
This thermometer contains small parts that can be swallowed or produce a choking hazard to children. Always keep the thermometer out of children’s reach.

Temperature Taking Tips
-
It is important to know each individual’s normal temperature when they are well. This is the only way to accurately diagnose a fever. Record readings twice a day (early morning and late afternoon). Take the average of the two temperatures to calculate normal equivalent temperature.
-
Holding the thermometer for too long in the hand before taking a measurement can cause the device to warm up. This means the measurement could be incorrect. 04
-
Patients and the thermometer should stay in steady-state room condition for at least 30 minutes.
-
In the following situations it is recommended that 3-5 temperatures in the same location be taken and the highest one taken as the reading:
-
Newborn infants in the first 100 days.
-
Children under three years of age with a compromised immune system
and for whom the presence or absence of fever is critical. -
When the user is learning how to use the thermometer for the first time until he/she has familiarized himself/herself with the instrument and obtains consistent readings.
-
Care and Cleaning
-
Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children unless supervised.
-
Cleaning the device use an alcohol swab or cotton swab moistened with 75% alcohol to clean the thermometer case and the measuring probe.
-
After the alcohol has completely dried out, you can take a new measurement (minimum of 10 minutes).
-
Ensure that no water enters the device. If this happens, only use the device again once it has fully dried out.
-
Never use abrasive cleaning agents, thinners or benzene for cleaning and never immerse the instrument in water or other cleaning liquids.
-
Take care not to scratch the surface of the LCD screen.
-
Remove the batteries from the device before cleaning.
-
Clean the device after use with a soft, slightly damp cloth. If they are very dirty, you can also moisten the cloth with a mild soapy solution.

documents for Class B product.
The ME EQUIPMENT or ME SYSTEM is suitable for home healthcare environments and
so on.
Warning: Don’t near active HF surgical equipment and the RF shielded room
of an ME system for magnetic resonance imaging, where the intensity of EM
disturbances is high.
Warning: Use of this equipment adjacent to or stacked with other equipment
should be avoided because it could result in improper operation. If such use
is necessary, this equipment and the other equipment should be observed to
verify that they are operating normally.
Warning: Use of accessories, transducers and cables other than those specified
or provided by the manufacturer of this equipment could result in increased
electromagnetic emissions or decreased electromagnetic immunity of this
equipment and result in improper operation.
Warning: Portable RF communications equipment (including peripherals such as
antenna cables and external antennas) should be used no closer than 30cm to
any part of the Infrared Thermometer (FC-IR109), including cables specified by
the manufacturer. Otherwise, degradation of the performance of this equipment
could result.
If any: A list of all cables and maximum lengths of cables (if applicable),
transducers and other ACCESSORIES that are replaceable by the RESPONSIBLE
ORGANIZATION and that are likely to affect compliance of the ME EQUIPMENT or
ME SYSTEM with the requirements of Clausel (EMISSIONS) and Clause 8
(IMMUNITY).
ACCESSORIES may be specified either generically (e.g.shielded cable, load
impedance) or specifically (e.g. by MANUFACTURER and EQUIPMENT OR TYPE
REFERENCE).
If any: The performance of the ME EQUIPMENT or ME SYSTEM that was determined
to be ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE and a description of what the OPERATOR can expect
if the ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE is lost or degraded due to EM DISTURBANCES (the
defined term “ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE” need not be used).
