Product Usage Instructions

Installing Reel Base

  1. Remove the Reel Axis Bolt and washers.
  2. Lift off the Spool from the Reel and Remove the Drag Rollers and the Reel Drag Control Plate.
  3. Remove the Drag Lever with Ball Springs.
  4. If no inserts are installed on the speargun stock, follow the steps below. If inserts are already installed, go to step B:
  5. Place Base Assembly at a desired position on speargun and mark holes.
  6. Predrill pilot holes using a 1/8 drill.
  7. Line up the base and install with #10 screws (included).
  8. Replace the Drag Lever with Spring Balls. The lever must be at Free Spool position.
  9. Replace the Reel Drag Control Plate.
  10. Insert Bearing Tube. Make sure the flat on the Bearing Tube is lined up with the flat on the slot.
  11. Set Drag Rollers in place. Make sure the flat end is facing the center of the reel.
  12. Replace the Spool and Washers.
  13. Replace the Reel Axis Bolt using a 1/2 wrench to tighten it down securely.
  14. Test the tension on the Drag Lever to ensure the parts have been installed correctly.

Spooling Reel Line

When the speargun is placed on a table with the reel facing up, the reel line should be spooled winding counter-clockwise.

FAQ

  • Q: What should I do if I lose tension while installing the Reel Drag Control Plate?
    • A: If you lose tension, check to make sure the Drag Plate has not lifted off the Base.
  • Q: How do I avoid damage to the stock when removing the Reel from a wood stock?
    • A: Holes left unrepaired may cause damage to the stock. Ensure proper repair after removal.

INSTALLING

INSTALLING REEL BASE

  • If you have an 8mm wrench that will fit under the Drag Control Plate to access the screws, you do not need to disassemble the Reel.
  • 1,2. Remove Reel Axis Bolt and washers
  • 3. Lift off the Spool from the Reel and Remove the Drag Rollers and the Reel Drag Control Plate.
  • 4. Remove the Drag Lever with Ball Springs

If no inserts are installed on the speargun stock, follow the steps below.
If inserts are already installed, go to step B

  • A. Place Base Assembly at a desired position on speargun and mark holes.
    • Predrill pilot holes using a 1/8” drill
  • B. Line up the base and install with #10 screws (included).
  • C. Replace the Drag Lever with Spring Balls. The lever must be at the “Free Spool” position.
  • D. Replace the Reel Drag Control Plate.
    • NOTE : Continuous downward tension must be placed on the Reel Drag  Control Plate, compressing the SpringBalls, until the Reel Axis Bolt is installed. If you lose tension, check tomake sure the Drag Plate has not lifted off the Base.
  • E. Insert Bearing Tube. Make sure flat on Bearing Tube is lined up with flat on slot
  • F. Set Drag Rollers in place. Make sure the flat end is facing the center of the reel.

Test the tension on the Drag Lever to ensure the parts have been installed correctly.

  • NOTE : If removing a Reel from a wood stock, holes left unrepaired may cause damage to the stock.
  • Horizontal Flat Mount is shown in diagrams. Radial Mount installation follows the same instructions
  • NOTE: Spooling Reel Line.
  • When the speargun is placed on a table with the reel facing up, the reel line should be spooled winding counterclockwise.
