Classification for Bicycle Usage
Blackjack wheels are categorized based on specific usage conditions, including road and mountain biking. Choose the appropriate wheel configuration based on your bike type and riding style for optimal performance.

Warning
Blackjack wheels are designed for standard or race road and MTB bicycles, specific terrains as described, and tires within the ETRTO standard.

Tire Pressure Guidelines:
The tire pressure should be within the values specified by the tire manufacturer. Factors like comfort, speed, grip, and rider weight influence the proper pressure. For road tires, maintain a minimum inflation pressure of 4 bar and 2.5 bar for MTB sizes. Tubeless setup should have 20-25% less pressure than inner tube setup. Ensure tire deflection does not exceed 30% of the tire section height during use.

FAQ

  • Q: Can I use Blackjack wheels on any type of bicycle?
A: Blackjack wheels are designed for standard or race road and MTB bicycles, ensuring compatibility with specific terrains and tires within the ETRTO standard.

  • Q: How do I determine the appropriate tire pressure for my Blackjack wheels?
A: Refer to the tire manufacturer’s specifications for the recommended tire pressure. Factors like comfort, speed, grip, and rider weight should be considered when setting the tire pressure within the specified range.

TIRE DIMENSION AND PRESSURE

  • TIRE WIDTH
    Example : 25 – 622, Road 622 x 25; MTB 29 x 2,10

  • RIM WIDTH
    Example : 622 x 25C

  • TIRE PRESSURE
The tyre pressure must stay within the values specified by the tyre manufactures. Proper pressure depends on the intended use (comfort, speed, grip, etc.) and on the bike-rider weight. Minimum inflation pressure in service is 4 bar for road tyres and 2,5 bar for MTB sizes. Note that the tubeless setup should have between 20% to 25% less pressure than the inner tube setup. In any case, the tyre deflection in use must not exceed 30% of the tyre section height.

User Manual

GENERAL INFORMATION

This manual contains crucial information about the safe operation and maintenance of your Blackjack wheelset, for both carbon fibre and aluminium bicycle wheels.
Before your next adventure, we advise you to read and understand this manual’s directions so that you experience a more enjoyable and carefree ride. Third users also should be informed of the following provisions.
Please be advised that many bicycle maintenance and repair tasks require experience, tools and expertise. General mechanical knowledge may not be enough to properly maintain or repair your bike.

When in doubt, contact your dealer or check out Blackjack’s official website www.blackjackwheels.com.

SAFETY INFORMATION

Compliance with the following provisions is essential to avoid possible damages and ensure proper operating conditions.

  • Ensure the wheels are secured safely. Riding a bicycle with an improperly installed wheel may allow it to move and disengage from the bicycle. It might cause damage and risk the users’ safety. Also, not mounting the wheels properly might result in problems with the shifters and handling.
  • Installation and maintenance of your bicycle components assume fundamental knowledge.
  • Only use original spare parts.
  • The components must be used exclusively for the purpose for which they are intended.
  • Components must be compatible with all bicycle parts.
  • The components must not be altered or modified.
  • Blackjack wheels are not designed to be installed on any bicycle for two riders (tandem bicycles).
  • Do not exceed the maximum rated pressure specified by the tire or rim manufacturers when filling tires.
  • The maximum recommended spoke tension is 120 Kg.
  • If there is evidence of damage, the components should not be used.

CLASSIFICATION FOR BICYCLE USAGE

From paved roads to mountain trails, all Blackjack’s products are related to one of five categories, each linked to a specific usage condition. Therefore, the configuration of the wheels you choose must be in line with the type of bicycle you use, as well as your riding style, to guarantee its performance. Otherwise, the responsibility lies strictly with the user.

WARNING
Blackjack wheels are solely designed for:

  • Installing in standard or race, Road and MTB bicycles.
  • The types of terrain identified in the products’ description and specifications.
  • Installing tires within the ETRTO standard.

VALVES
Our carbon fiber wheels are provided with valves suitable for the height of the rim extensions, as follows:

  • Model TR21 – Tubeless valves in black aluminium finish 60 mm.
  • Model TR24 – Tubeless valves in black aluminium finish 60 mm.
  • Model TR26 – Tubeless valves in black aluminium finish 44 mm.
  • Model TR30 – Tubeless valves in black aluminium finish 44 mm.

ASSEMBLY

APPLYING TUBELESS READY TAPE

  • Use a Tubeless Ready tape that matches the width of the rim.
  • Clean the base of the rim with a soft sponge or cloth and a suitable cleaner.
  • Stretch the tape across the entire rim. The movement must be made with pressure so that it adheres correctly. You should start the movement near the valve hole.
  • Cut the tape, leaving a small overlap.
  • Use a suitable tool to pierce the tape in the area of the valve hole.
  • Insert the valve into the hole and slide the O-ring over the valve. Screw the nut onto the valve and tighten by hand.

FITTING TIRES WITHOUT A TUBE
When fitting tubeless tyres, liquid sealant must be used. Some sealants include substances that promote corrosion and should be avoided. We recommend that you follow the sealant manufacturer’s instructions or enlist the help of a professional. The product warranty becomes invalid if an inappropriate sealant is found to have a corrosive effect.

  • Fill the tyres with the liquid sealant specified.
  • Fit the tyres according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Inflate the tyres to the maximum permitted pressure: check the recommended pressure for your model at the beginning of this manual.
  • Check that the tyre is seated on the entire rim.

SELECTION OF COMPONENTS AND TOOLS

  • Do not use a metal tire lever. It can damage the surface of the rim, tire or tubes.
  • Only use valves with a diameter of 6.5 mm.
  • Carbon fibre rims should not be used with latex tubes.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

Blackjack wheels – whether made of carbon fibre or aluminium – are considered high-performance products, providing lightness, high strength and resistance, as well as a reduced coefficient of aerodynamic drag. As such, they require careful maintenance.

  • Clean with a soft sponge and a suitable cleaner. Do not use high-pressure or harsh cleaning equipment.
  • Remove foreign matter (grit, metallic particles, dirt) after every ride.
  • Check the spoke tension, concentricity and wheel wear (after a 10-hour use).
  • Check the wheel for damage: fractures or raised/lowered fibres when considering carbon fiber wheels (before and after each round).
  • Check the correct setting (before and after each round).
  • Check the tire pressure (before each round).
  • Verify the correct mounting of the wheel (before each round).

Note : This user manual is intended for both carbon fibre and aluminium wheelsets.
These products do not contain any hazardous substances and the aluminium wheels are recyclable. When discarding this product, ensure that it is sent to recycling.
