TERRAWAGEN TWNS-23 Aero Hood Spoiler
Terrawagen Aero Hood spoiler installation
Thanks for buying our product! Please read these instructions prior to install.
A ) Terrawagen only approves installing the Aero spoiler according to
these written instructions. WARNING: Failure
to install according to these instructions will invalidate the warranty. This
includes, but is not limited to, using
alternative installation methods, hardware, or materials. DO NOT USE: Super
Glue, or similar products on the parts.
B ) Fit: The Aero Spoiler should be held to the vehicle surface to verify
correct type and fit BEFORE beginning installation or painting. Small fit
adjustments can be made by trimming (filing, sanding, or cutting) excess
plastic.
C ) Preparing the Work Area: Clean the area of installation with a cloth
and rubbing alcohol or prep-solvent to remove any
car wax or dirt from vehicle surface.
D ) Ambient Temperature: During installation the vehicle and the tape
needs to be a minimum 60°F and not more than 90°F for proper adhesion. Failure
to maintain proper installation temperature may result in the part not
functioning correctly. If not within acceptable range, increase surface
temperature using a heat gun or suitable device (hair dryer) to help reach
proper range. The warmer the surface, the better the bond.

Step 1. Test fit the Aero spoiler on the hood prior to installing.
Notice how the center hood crease determines the Aero Spoiler placement. Peel
away adhesive strip as demonstrated in photo.
Step 2. place spoiler on hood, align the front down turned corners so
the lower edge of spoiler is registered with the hood.
Step 3. Peel away the adhesive tabs in the order shown. Place your
fingers under spoiler lip as you pull the tabs and ensure that the lead edge
of spoiler is in position over the front edge of the hood. Apply 30 PSI to the
taped areas after vinyl tape has been removed.
Note: tape reaches maximum bond in 24 hours.
Corona Treating Vinyl Wrap & Plastic Bumpers
Corona treating plastic involves using a propane torch to enhance the plastic’s adhesive properties. Corona Treating alters the surface to accept an adhesive. Follow these steps:
-
Test Fit for Adhesive Lines : Before starting, do a test fit to determine where the adhesive lines will make contact with the vinyl wrap/plastic. This will help you identify the areas that require treatment. You can utilize masking tape to both shield areas that don’t require treatment and create a helpful outline guide.
-
Propane Torch Preparation : The blue portion of the flame is what corona treats the plastic. Place the blue flame portion of the torch close enough to the plastic/vinyl wrap surface.
-
Treat the Surface : When treating the surface, it’s essential to work quickly and steadily.
Avoid holding the flame in one place for more than one second to prevent damage. A quick pass is all that is needed. -
Timely Application : Once the vinyl wrap is treated, you have approximately 15 minutes to apply the 3M VHB tape. This process changes the surface to enable the tape to adhere.
-
Apply Firm Pressure : After installing the part, firmly press it into place. Apply 25 pounds of pressure to ensure a secure bond. The tape makes a full bond within 24 hours.
By following these steps, you can effectively corona treat vinyl wrap/plastic bumpers for optimal adhesion with 3M VHB tape.
