Adjustment Options / Features
-
Folding
- Hercules Prime can be folded for easy, space-saving transport.
-
Unfolding
- Release the red eccentric levers on both sides of the seat to fold the seat open. (Fig. 8)
- Then secure the seat in the desired position. Attach the enclosed pelvic pads. Put the pelvic pads over the side guides with the padded side facing inwards. The pelvic pad is fixed to the outside and inside of the sheet metal with hook and loop fasteners.
(Fig. 9)
-
Folding up
- First remove the two pelvic pads on the left and right. This prevents the pads from being squeezed. Then release the red eccentric levers on both sides of the seat to fold the seat together. Then secure the seat in the folded position.
-
Back height adjustment
- Loosen the back cushion at the bottom of the back panels and pull the cushion end forward towards the seat. Loosen the shoulder straps and remove the back padding (Fig. 25 B). (Fig. 10)
- Using an Allen key and an open-ended spanner, loosen the four screws enough so that the back plate can be moved. (Fig. 11)
- The correct backrest height is reached when the red belt guide on the upper backrest plate is approx. 2 cm above the user’s shoulder. (Fig. 12)
- Tighten the four screws again and attach the shoulder straps and the back pad (Fig. 25 B) to the back of the back plates.
-
Back angle adjustment
- Use the red eccentric levers on both sides of the Hercules Prime seat to adjust the back of the seat to the backrest of the car seat. (Fig. 7) Make sure that the positioning seat is in full contact with the vehicle seat.
Belt guide, top
Change of sides
- Depending on the position of the Hercules Prime seat in the vehicle, the upper red belt guide may be required on the other side of the seat.
- First unscrew the black angle from the back plate (Fig. 13). Mount the bracket on the other side of the back plate.
- Now loosen the red belt guide on the black bracket and correct the position of the red belt guide to ensure optimum belt routing in the vehicle. (Fig. 14)
Seat depth adjustment
- Place the seat outside the vehicle on the back plate to gain access to the seat from be-low. Detach the seat cushion from the seat plate to gain access to the nuts on the seat. Loosen the seat depth adjustment screws under the seat with an Allen key. (Fig. 15) Lock the nuts above the seat plate with an open-ended spanner. (Fig. 16) Slide the upper seat plate to the desired depth. Then retighten all the screws and attach the seat cushion to the hook and loop fasteners on the seat plate.
Crotch strap adjustment
- Tip: Change the setting outside the car to allow for sufficient space.
- The crotch strap can be used in two positions on the seat. Loosen the belt buckle and remove the crotch pad and the seat cushion from the seat plate. (Fig. 17) It is best to place the Hercules Prime seat on the back plate and loosen the seat depth screw connection. The two screws can be reached from below. (Fig. 15) The nuts can be found on the seat depth plate. (Fig. 16) Pull the seat depth plate out as far as possible. Now you can adjust the position of the crotch strap. Please make sure that it is threaded correctly, refer to the illustration on the seat depth plate.
- Crotch strap position for small users (Fig. 18)
- Crotch strap position for tall users (Fig. 19)
- Now set the desired seat depth again and tighten the two screws. Thread the harness buckle through the seat pad and the harness buckle pad. Finally, thread the lower end of the harness shield pad through the seat pad in the same way as the crotch strap.
5-point positioning belt
- Please note: The 5-point positioning belt is used to position the user in the seat and does not protect the user in an accident. To secure the user in the seat, the 3-point safety belt available in the car must always be used.
- Adjusting the height of the shoulder straps
- Loosen the shoulder straps behind the back padding. (Fig. 20) Then pass them through the belt guides in the back plate at a height suitable for the user. (Fig. 21) Please en-sure that the straps are threaded correctly into the back plate, an illustration for this is located directly on the back plate. (Fig. 3)
- Changing the strap length (shoulder straps)
- Pull on the loose straps to shorten and tighten the straps. To lengthen the straps, press the trigger of the strap tensioners and then pull the strap to the desired length. (Fig. 22) By changing the adjustment range on the belt tensioner, you can adapt the belt even better to the user.
Changing the belt length (lap belt)
- If the adjustment at the belt straps is not sufficient, you can also adjust the pelvic belt in the lower area of the back plate. To do this, loosen the threaded belt and adjust it to the desired length. Make sure that the end of the strap protrudes at least 5 cm / 2″ from the slot in the back plate. (Fig. 23)
- Belt buckle
- To open, press on the red recess of the cap. Then separate the two upper belt holders. To close the belt, insert the belt holders individually into the latch and press them together until they click into place with an audible “click”.
- Headrest cushion
- The head pad is held in place by four hook and loop fastener strips. These are fed through the slot in the back padding and attached to the back of the back padding. (Fig. 24)

-
Swivel function
-
The swivel function allows the career to turn the unbuckled seat to the right or to the left towards the vehicle door to facilitate getting in and out of the vehicle.
-
To turn the Hercules Prime, pull the red pull-catch (Fig. 28) and turn the seat towards the open vehicle door. When turning back, make sure that the pull-catch audibly clicks into place.
-
It is possible to change the direction of rotation (to the right or left). The direction of rotation (to the left or right) can be selected when ordering. If the turning function is retrofitted, the mounting material is supplied in six mounting sets (D, E, F, G, H, I).
(Fig. 29) The necessary assembly must be carried out by a trained and qualified person! -
Attention: If the vehicle seat does not have a straight support surface for the positioning seat, the accessory “cushion for function plate” is strongly recommended. The seat surface of the Hercules Prime must rest on as large an area as possible, especially when using the swivel function.
Cushion for function plate
- Place the cushion for function plates under the Hercules Prime seat on the vehicle seat. (Fig. 30) It is used to compensate for the shape of the vehicle seat. In some car seat models, there is little direct contact surface for the Hercules Prime, which can cause damage to the car seat, especially when turning. To minimise this risk, the cushion compensates for the shape of the seat.
- Caution: Using the cushion may increase the overall height of the Hercules Prime. Before driving, check that there is still enough room to cover the car’s roof. A distance of approx. 20 cm / 7.9” between the top edge of the positioning seat and the car headliner is recommended.
Tilting function
- The tilting function allows Hercules Prime to be tilted backwards in 2.5°-steps. To set the desired tilt, loosen the two screws located in the upright rows of holes. Change the tilt and fix the tilt plate back in place with the screws. (Fig. 31)
- The tilting function is available in two versions: 0° to 10° and 10° to 20°.
- If the tilting function is retrofitted, three mounting kits (A, B, C) are included. (Fig. 32) The necessary assembly must be carried out by a trained and qualified person!
- “Mounting kit A” is required if the seat was previously equipped WITHOUT a tilt function.
- “Mounting kit B” is required if the seat was previously equipped with a swivel function.
- “Mounting kit C” is ALWAYS required.
- You can put aside the unused mounting kit (“A” or “B”).
Headrest
- Fitting tip: To fit the headrest, hold the upholstery slot in the backrest upholstery (A) open with a spacer. (Fig. 33)
- When mounting the headrest, the threaded rod must be at the bottom. Insert the threaded rod through the upholstery and screw the headrest to the back plate at the rear. (Fig. 34)
- To adjust the headrest, loosen the screw that holds the headrest. Then the height of the headrest is adjusted to the user and tightened again. (Fig. 23) Make sure that the back of the user’s head is centred in the headrest.
- The headrest is attached to a ball joint. The headrest can be finely adjusted by loosening the screws under the upholstery. The headrest must be removed for this.
Shoulder guide
- The shoulder guide provides further support on both sides in the shoulder area of the upper body. One mounting slot is available in the back plate on each side. Loosen the back padding at the top to gain access. (Fig. 35)
- Mount the shoulder guide to the back plate on each side from behind with two screws each. (Fig. 36) For individual adjustment of the shoulder width, move the shoulder guides to the desired position.
- Now tighten the two screws and attach the back pad.
- Lateral trunk supports, rigid / swing-away
- For mounting the lateral trunk supports, 2 slots are available in the back plate on each side. These slots are covered by the side covers. (Fig. 37)
- Push the lateral trunk support through the slot of the side cover onto the back plate to mount the lateral trunk support in the inner slot. (Fig. 38)
- If you want to use the outer slot, then remove the side cover and mount the lateral trunk support directly on the back plate. (Fig. 39)
- Then attach the side cover back onto the back plate and over the holder of the lateral trunk support.
- Attention: Lateral trunk supports and upper body guides cannot be used at the same time!
Upper body guide rigid / swing-away
- There are 2 slots in the back plate on each side for mounting the upper body guide. These slots are covered by the side cover. (Fig. 37)
- Slide the upper body guide through the slot of the side cover onto the back plate to mount the upper body guide in the inner slot. (Fig. 40)
- If you want to use the outer slot, remove the side cover and mount the upper body guide directly on the back plate (Fig. 41).
- Then, put the side cover back on the back plate and over the upper body guide holder.
Abduction block
- The holder for the abduction block is positioned on the upper side of the seat depth plate and screwed from below. (Fig. 42)
- The abduction block is guided into the holder with the square tube and locked at the desired height with the toggle screw. (Fig. 43)
Leg guides
- The leg guides are screwed to the left and right from below in the drill holes provided on the seat depth plate (2 screws each). (Fig. 44)
- They guide the thighs and give the user more support in the thigh area.
Footrest, foldable
- The footrest is inserted from the front into the receptacle under the seat plate. (Fig. 45) Adjust the depth of the footrest to the seat in the vehicle. Screw the footrest to the sides under the seat plate using the 2 set screws supplied (1 screw per side). (Fig. 46)
- With the red eccentric levers on both sides the desired angle can be adjusted. Make sure that the eccentric levers point downwards after adjustment. (Fig. 47)
- Choose the height of the lower crossbar so that it supports the Hercules Prime seat securely in the vehicle’s footwell. The height can be adjusted using the side screws. (Fig. 48)
- If the footrest is not at the right height for the user, loosen the footrest set screws on both sides. Adjust the height to suit the user and tighten the set screws again. (Fig. 49) Make sure that both Allen screws are on the footrest.
- The folded up footplate is held by a magnet. This makes it easier to get in and out of the seat. (Fig. 50)
- Stand
- The stand is inserted from the front into the receptacle under the seat plate. (Fig. 45) Adjust the depth of the stand to the seat in the vehicle. Screw the stand to the sides under the seat plate using the 2 set screws (1 screw per side) supplied. (Fig.
(Fig. 48)
Chest clip
- First detach the back pad bonnet from the back plates to gain free access to the threaded shoulder strap. To insert the belt connector, unthread the shoulder belts from the back plate and remove the shoulder belt pad (Fig. 27 H).
- Now the belt connector can be threaded onto the belt of the 5-point positioning belt. (Fig. 51) The shoulder belt pad is again positioned on the belt above the belt connector. Then the belt end of the 5-point positioning belt is threaded back into the back plate. Please make sure that the belt is not twisted and threaded onto the back plate according to the illustration (Fig. 3).
- Tip: First completely assemble the chest clip on one side before you loosen the second side.
- Second belt guide, top
- A second upper belt guide (Fig. 52) can be fitted for flexible use on different car seats. The vehicle’s 3-point safety belt can be used on the right or left side of the car seat without having to change the upper belt guide first. For more information on mounting, see “Adjustment options – belt guide, top”.
Seatfix adapter
- Note: Prerequisite for the use of the Seatfix adapter is an existing ISOFIX equipment of the vehicle. This must be checked before purchase!
- The Seatfix adapter is pushed from behind into the receptacle under the seat plate. (Fig. 53) Loosely screw the 4 set screws supplied (2 on each side) into the holder so that the Seatfix adapter can still be moved. (Fig. 54)
- Determine the required position of the Seatfix adapter: To do this, place the seat in the vehicle and insert the Seatfix connectors (with yellow trigger) into the vehicle’s Isofix anchors. Check that the connectors are securely locked in place by pulling. The backrest of the Hercules Prime must have as much contact with the backrest of the vehicle as possible. Mark the desired position at the transition between the Seatfix adapter and the seat plate.
- Now loosen the Seatfix connectors and remove the Hercules Prime from the vehicle again. Fix the Seatfix adapter in the marked position with the four threaded pins.
Stabilizing bow
-
The stabilizing bow is pushed into the receptacle under the seat plate from behind.
(Fig. 53) Loosely screw the enclosed 4 threaded pins (2 on each side) into the receptacle so that the stabilising bracket can still be moved. (Fig. 54) -
Determine the required position of the stabilising bar: To do this, place the seat in the vehicle and guide the stabilising bar between the seat surface and the backrest of the vehicle seat. The backrest of the Hercules Prime must have as much contact as possible with the backrest of the vehicle. Mark the desired position at the junction of the stabilization bar and the receptacle under the seat plate.
-
Take the Hercules Prime out of the vehicle again and fix the stabilising bar at the marked position.
-
The stabilizing bow can also be used upside down, depending on the vehicle seat. To do this, mount the bracket with the bend either up or down. (Fig. 55)
