How do I use?
- To avoid the reproduction of sounds with low sound pressure and/or poor quality when more than two speakers are active at once, special attention to the polarity is required. Similar to connecting a battery, the connection should be made using the same polarity for a parallel connection and a different polarity for a series connection.
- The low-impedance connection invites severe power loss when lengthy wire is needed, which leads in poor speaker operation.
- If the wiring is longer than 50 meters, use the proper high impedance and a matching transformer. The output impedance of the amplifier should be the same as the combined impedance of the speakers for low impedance connections.
- Connect the speakers so that their total input power (wattage) and amplifier output power are equal if you want a high impedance connection. It means that the impedances are matched.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can this be linked directly to a cb radio with PA capability or does it need to be attached to a battery first?
You can connect it with most amps, however I did so with a pair that has a terminal output connection that is rated for 70 volts RMS (depends on how many you get). Consider the maximum WATT power rating of the amplifier as well as whether you want to connect the horns in series or parallel. Locate an amplifier that can handle the whole impedance required to meet your needs.
Can I connect this speaker to a standard PA amp that isn’t 100 volt compatible?
As far as I’m aware, this speaker only operates with 70V or 100V Amps. It is not an 8 ohm speaker, which is what most home stereo amplifiers use.
Is there a wire and plug included with this speaker for the CB/PA system?
Only the speaker, no wiring. It is designed to accommodate a 70 volt system and features an inbuilt load transformer with many taps. I set up two and used an 80 w amp to cover a softball field.
I purchased two of them and am using a “Pyle PHSP16 (600 watt amp)” to power them.
I’m running the parallel speakers with the 70 volt connection, and this amp still has enough power to connect a number of additional speakers in the future if I so want. They were positioned on the roof of a church.
Will a 600 watt amp work with this?
The driver is only rated for 100W, in my opinion. But I use a 200W amp to power mine. If you crank it, though, it will function. The motorist will blow
Does this horn speaker function with an 8-ohm amplifier?
Hello, that depends on the amp you plan to use. A tube amplifier with an 8-ohm tap will only output its maximum power when paired with an 8-ohm speaker load. When a 16 ohm speaker is connected, the power tubes ‘see’ the higher ohms on their plates and are only able to provide around half of the rated power. I’m grateful.
Am I getting two of these horn speakers if I buy them, or just one? Moreover, the precise payment for ghana/tamale
Hello, there is only one horn speaker included. Please visit our website, pyleaudio.com, for more information. Put the model number in the PHSP16 search box. I’m grateful.
