R-W’S R500 SERIES FIRE SHUTTER is manufactured with U.L. fire ratings and is a cost effective way of protecting property in case of a fire, while increasing building safety for occupants.
The R550 Series is manufactured to the highest standards featuring, space saving designs and user-friendly operation. The fail-safe operating system is activated by fusible links, smoke detectors or can be wired to a central alarm system by one of our release devices. The R550 Series is the perfect choice for pharmacies, cafeterias, concession areas, ticket counters, nurse/hospital desks, and many more applications where a fire-rated wall exists.

PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS
Developed to allow the safe emergency closing when activated by our 165° fusible link, or when activated by another release device. The door will automatically descend to the fl oor at a controlled rate. This system eliminates the danger associated with a free-falling door.
Drop Testing and Auto Reset
- Floor level release and reset handle provided with the chain hoist. Key test station provided with motor operation.
- No tools or ladders required to drop test or reset the door.
OPTIONS
- Fire rating: Available in 90 minutes and 3 hours.
- Automatic Closing Devices: XP, XPBB, AFCB.
- Detection & Activation Devices: Smoke and heat detector horn.
- Optional Mounting: Between jamb under lintel (fascia required) or above lintel.
- Vision Panels: 5″ wide x 3/4″ high available on any UL rating.
- Flame Baffl e & Jamb Seal: Helps prevent smoke infiltration through the header and jamb. NFPA105 Smoke control upon request.

- Bottom Bar: Two-piece steel or stainless angle and bulb weatherseal.
- Hood: 22 ga galvanized steel with baked epoxy primer and baked polyester. Stainless steel (R520S).
- Counterbalance: 25,000 cycle oil-tempered helical torsion spring.
- Barrel: Barrel fabricated from minimum 4-1/2″ O.D. pipe, with 1″ tension and drive shaft and provided with lugs welded to barrel for curtain assembly. Springs to be oil tempered grease packed helical torsion type.
- Brackets: 1/4″ steel plate powder coated with self aligning bearing.
