Product Usage Instructions

Installation

Ensure the appliance is not installed in very dusty environments to prevent permanent marking due to dust burning on the heating element.

Electrical Connection

• Green/yellow earth wire to the terminal marked or `E’
• Brown live wire to the terminal marked `L’
• Blue neutral wire to the terminal marked `N’

Controls LCD Display

The LCD provides the following information:

1. On/Off
2. Full/Half power mode
3. Element on indicator
4. Half power setting
5. Full power setting
6. Open window detection
7. Manual mode active

FAQ

Q: Can children use this appliance?

• A: Children aged 8 years and above can use the appliance under supervision. Children under 8 years should not operate or perform maintenance on the appliance.

Q: What should I do if the supply cord is damaged?

• A: If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid hazards.

Q: How do I prevent overheating?

• A: To avoid overheating, do not cover the heater during operation.

Overview

• Thank you for purchasing an Accona Panel Heater. A fixed heating solution, available in 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.4 kW models. These are suitable for application in both home and office environments.
• Please read and follow these instructions to ensure that installation and operation are as simple and safe as possible.

Important Safety Points

• This appliance should only be installed and maintained by a competent person under any local electrical regulations.
• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
• Children shall not play with the appliance.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be done by children without supervision.
• Children of less than 3 years should be kept away unless continuously supervised.
• Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall only switch on/off the appliance provided that it has been placed or installed in its intended normal operating position and they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
• Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall not plug in, regulate, and clean the appliance or perform user maintenance.
• Some parts of this appliance can become very hot and cause burns. Particular attention has to be given where children and vulnerable people are present.
• To avoid overheating, do not cover the heater.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard.
• The appliance must be permanently connected to the electrical supply through an appropriately rated isolating switch with a contact separation in all poles.
• This appliance must be earthed.
• Only connect the appliance to an electrical supply that meets the specifications detailed on the rating label.
• The appliance must not be located immediately below a socket outlet.

Installation

• Select a location for the appliance ensuring the mounting surface is suitable for the weight and heat of the appliance.
• This appliance is not designed for outdoor use or use in very damp environments.
• If the appliance is located in a bathroom, it must be installed so that switches and other controls cannot be touched by a person in the bath or shower.
• The appliance is only intended for horizontal installation, fire risk exists if installed in any other orientation.
• Ensure there are no hidden cables or pipework before commencing any drilling.
• To avoid overheating risk, ensure minimum clearances are observed when installing the appliance (see diagram 1).
• Do not install the appliance in very dusty environments. Dust can burn as it passes over the heating element and adheres to the outer surface and immediate surroundings of the appliance, leading to permanent marking.

Wall Mounting

• Mark the two ‘L’ holes as shown in diagram 2.
• The distance between the centers of the holes is model-dependent, consult the table for the specific model being fitted.

• Drill the two ‘L’ holes as marked in the previous step and insert 2 wall plugs and screws. Leave at least 5 mm of exposed thread to hang the appliance onto.
• Assemble the two brackets supplied, as shown in diagram 1, to the rear of the appliance. Once in place, secure the brackets using the supplied screws.
• Fit the spacer onto the rear of the appliance (see diagram 3). The rear of the spacer has hooks that engage into the corresponding slots of the appliance as it is pushed down.
• Hang the appliance on the screws by locating them into the center of the two corresponding top brackets and then sliding the appliance down, right, and down (see diagram 4).
• Fit the final fixing bracket via the air inlet grilles located on the underside of the appliance (see diagram 5).
• Slide the fixing bracket along the air inlet grille until it contacts flush to the wall.
• Mark the hole requirement on the wall and then remove the appliance by reversing the movement in the earlier step.
• Drill the hole and insert a wall plug.
• Return the appliance to the wall and insert the final screw into the fixing bracket to complete the wall mounting.

Electrical Connection

• Make connections as below;

Controls LCD Display

• primarily represents target temperature however, where referenced it displays the current segment/ child lock active.

Preparing the Appliance

Switching the Appliance On

• Switch the power supply to the appliance.
• Turn the appliance on using the rocker switch on the right-hand side of the appliance.
• A blue light will be illuminated above the on/ off button.
• Press the button and the LCD will now be illuminated.
• The appliance will time out if no button is pressed within 4 seconds and the process will need to be restarted. Take time to read through each section before performing each task.
• When setting the time and day it is essential to ensure that ONLY the day of the week is flashing e.g. MON and no other icons. Press OK to exit and restart if required.
• Press OK first (keep holding this down) followed by SET and hold both until the appliance beeps.
• The day of the week will flash. Use the arrows to select the day and press SET to confirm.
• The hour will flash. Use the arrows to select the hour and press SET to confirm.
• The minutes will flash. Use the arrows to select the minutes and press SET to confirm or leave to time out.
• During the setting process use SET when confirming the day/ hour/ minute required. Do NOT press OK as this will exit the process and you will need to restart.

Selecting the Operating Mode

• On first power, the appliance will default to manual mode, and M will be illuminated.
• To select your chosen operating mode press to choose either M (manual) or A (automatic).

Setting the Target Temperature

• Use the arrows to set the target temperature. The temperature display will briefly flash, when it stops flashing it is now set and ready to use.
• To change the target temperature at any time, use the arrows.

Manual Mode

• Manual mode is the simplest way to use your appliance. No timers are running.
• The thermostat will control the heating element to reach and maintain the target temperature.
• Select manual mode by pressing until the M (manual) icon is displayed.
• Nb. Setting the time and date is not essential for M (manual) mode.

Run on Timer Mode

• Whilst in manual mode it is possible to control the length of time the appliance operates by using a run-on timer function.
• This is most convenient if you require the appliance to turn itself off after some time.
• Select manual mode by pressing until the M (manual) icon is displayed.
• Press SET to enter the run-on timer programming screen.
• The hour, day of the week, and the icon will flash (see section 3. Controls).
• Use the arrows to select the hour for the appliance to turn off and press SET.
• The minutes will flash. Use the arrows to select the minutes for the appliance to turn off.
• Once the desired hour and minute for the appliance to stop heating are displayed, press OK to confirm.
• The appliance will now display the icon to confirm run on the timer mode is active.
• The run-on timer mode will be cleared if the appliance is switched off.

Automatic Timer Mode

• When programming automatic timer mode you are only setting the periods during which you want the appliance to be switched on.
• Automatic timer mode allows the appliance to be operated by a user-defined schedule. This offers up to four separate segments of operation to be defined for each day (all segments do not need to be used).
• This feature is strongly recommended where heat demand is predictable as it can help reduce energy wastage. In addition, this allows spaces to be heated in anticipation of the demand without the need for somebody to be present to turn it on.
• See 2 examples of how automatic mode could be used below;

Example 1 – in a domestic flat

• Segment 1 (when the user wakes up) – Heating ON 06:00 and heating OFF 08:00
• Segment 2 (when the user returns from work)– Heating ON 17:00 and heating OFF 22:00
• This uses 2 segments over 24 hours

Example 2 – in a commercial office

• Segment 1 (staff arrive to work for the day) – Heating ON 07:00 and heating OFF 17:00 This uses 1 segment over 24 hours
• in automatic timer mode up to four separate segments (1 – 4) of operation can be defined for each day. The segment being programmed (1 – 4) is shown in the °C target temperature box.
• When programming automatic timer mode there are no minutes.
• It is HOUR ON/HOUR OFF using a 24-hour time format (see diagram 4).
• Press SET and the day of the week will flash.
• Use the arrows to select the day and press SET to confirm. The display in diagram 5 is setting the 1st segment for Monday.
• Segment 1 of the chosen day is now being programmed.
• The 1st block of digits will flash, this shows the hour for heating to turn ON e.g. 00 = 12 am, 08 = 8 am.
• Use the arrows to select the hour for the appliance to turn ON (08 = 8 am) and press SET to confirm.
• The 2nd block of digits will flash, this shows the hour for heating to turn OFF e.g. 10 = 10 am, 14 = 2 pm.
• Use the arrows to select the hour for the appliance to turn OFF (10 = 10 am) and press SET to confirm.
• The appliance will now move to segment 2 which can be programmed for chosen ON/ OFF times as above.
• This can be repeated for as many of the 4 segments as desired. When programming for the current day is complete (no matter how many segments have been used) press OK.
• This will NOT take you to the next consecutive day, it will take you back to the beginning and you must begin the process of selecting your chosen day to programme again.

Selecting Between Full and Half Power

• Press the button to choose between the settings. The current setting will be displayed by either the LO or HI icon on the display (see section 3. Controls).

Child Lock

• Press the arrows simultaneously and hold until the appliance beeps. The temperature display will be replaced by the [ ] icon to indicate the appliance is locked.
• Repeat the first step to unlock.
• If you are unsure whether the child lock is active when the appliance is on standby, press the button to illuminate the LCD. Press any button to check whether the child lock [ ] icon is displayed.

Frost Protection

• The appliance has a frost protection mode which will not allow the temperature of its surroundings to drop below 5°C. This feature will operate regardless of any settings that have been selected.
• The only way to prevent this feature from operating is to switch off the heater at the main switch (not standby).

Open Window Detection

• Open window detection will detect any sharp drop in the room temperature due to an open window. This is designed to help reduce energy wastage, it is recommended to be set on.
• The appliance will beep and stop heating, and WO will flash to indicate open window detection. To clear, the appliance should be switched off and back on using the button.
• It is possible to switch the feature on or off. Press and hold OK until the appliance beeps and the WO icon is no longer visible. This means open window detections have been switched off.

Cleaning and Maintenance

•  This appliance should only be installed and maintained by a competent person by any local electrical regulations.
• Ensure any future maintenance or modifications to the appliance comply with the guidelines in these instructions.
• Isolate the appliance from the electrical supply before performing any maintenance task.
• Ensure the appliance has cooled down before performing any maintenance task.
• Do not use abrasive chemicals to clean this appliance.
• Use a soft damp cloth when cleaning, and avoid excessive use of liquids.
• If the unit has been off for a prolonged period, safely remove any excess dust from the unit and immediate vicinity before turning it on.
• The appliance should be inspected and cleaned periodically. Ensure the inlet grilles at the base and the outlet louvers at the front of the appliance are cleared of dust or other debris that may cause a blockage and in turn reduce the airflow in and out of the appliance. If unchecked this may lead to the appliance running at hotter temperatures.
• Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to gently remove any debris from the inlet grilles and outlet louvers.

Troubleshooting

clear the fault. The cause of the overheating should be investigated before continuing to use the appliance.
WO| Open window detection – resolve cause then to clear, the appliance should be switched off and back on via the on/ off button.

Guarantee and Service Policy

• This product is covered by a standard parts or replacement warranty for 1 year from the date of purchase.
• If there is a manufacturing defect within the warranty period we will send spare parts, repair and return the unit or, at our discretion, supply a replacement product.
• Incorrect installation and failure to follow correct operating instructions are excluded.
• Consequential costs such as labor charges or damage to surroundings are expressly excluded.
