Potato is not used in any of our complete foods, we do use sweet potato (which is a completely different species), and cassava or tapioca as main starches to hydrolyse.

The Only One 7 days is a commercial name, its formula is nutritionally correct for a complete feed, it was made because the market, at the time, demanded a product with a higher amount of porcine protein. There is no technical explanation as all our feeds are complete feeds. They can all be fed with the same frequency. They are merely named for a marketing tool.
Why are there no vegetables in your foods?
Since Alpha Spirit is defined as ‘wild and perfect’ with an aim to bring dogs back to their origins, Alpha Spirit prefer to stay aside from the trend of addressing our product to humans by adding what is healthy to themselves. The Alpha Spirit brand focuses on the foods that a dog would naturally choose in the wild. We do however add small proportions of fruit and herbs in some foods for functional properties.
Where is the information about vitamin and mineral content?
Only those that are added and have a legal maximum are put on the labelling. There are other products such as snacks, etc. that are not nutritionally analysed as they are not complete.
There are other products that are put in the analytical composition because they are provided by the fresh raw materials and are not added.
Can you tell me more about the Glucosamine levels in your food?
It must be understood that the intake is not a supplement in which an exact amount is given. This glucosamine is provided by the different raw materials in the recipes, so it can vary. There is no external supply of glucosamine. You should also be aware that FEDIAF does not set any upper or lower limit on it, and European legislation does not set a legal or nutritional maximum.

Why is my semi-moist food harder than expected?
There are no official definitions but there are industry standard definitions:
Dry Pet Food: Pet food with a moisture content of 14% or less
Semi-Moist Pet Food: Food with a moisture content between 14% and 60%
Alpha Spirit Soft foods have a moisture content of 25% and are therefore classified as semi-moist
The Only One foods have a moisture content of 14% and are therefore classified as dry
The degree of hardness of our soft food is compared to The Only One by the water activity of each feed group. It will not be compared with the other products on the market, there would be too many and too difficult to perform.
If the food is cold-pressed, we would expect the semimoist dog food to be softer?

This gentle process helps to retain the nutritional integrity of the ingredients while reducing the risk of nutrient loss that can occur with traditional high- heat cooking methods.
Cold-pressed dog food typically falls somewhere between dry kibble and traditional wet food in terms of consistency. It is designed to be firm enough to promote dental health and encourage chewing, which can help with dental hygiene.
However, it should not be overly hard to the point that it becomes challenging for your dog to eat comfortably.
If you find that the cold-pressed dog food you purchased is too hard for your dog, here are a few suggestions to ensure your furry friend enjoys their meals:
Moistening the Food: You can add a bit of warm water to the food and allow it to sit for a few minutes before serving. This will soften the food and make it easier for your dog to chew and digest.
Mixing with Wet Food: You can also mix the cold-pressed dog food with a small portion of canned or wet dog food. This will create a softer texture and enhance the flavour, making it more appealing to your dog.

Why does your puppy food not have any added multivitamins, will this hinder my puppy?
Our food is aimed at puppies of all ages but with no previous morbidities or pathologies or that due to their racial characteristics would need supplementation, as it complies with the requirements set out in the FEDIAF guide, always with the variation that occurs due to the use of fresh raw materials.
Other brands, when working with meat or fish meal at very high temperatures, destroy many of the vitamins that animals need for their nutrition, which is why they have to add them afterwards, whereas Alpha Spirit is cold-pressed and cooked at ow temperatures.

If your order is placed before 2pm (for in-stock products) Monday – Thursday, your order will be dispatched the same day on a DPD Next Working Day delivery service. Can you tell me what food standards your food meets?
Our company applies in all our products the nutritional requirements of FEDIAF as well as the food safety requirements of the European legislation which is adapted to the requirements of the UK.
I’m concerned that my food is only safe for consumption within 15 days due to the packaging?
Once opened, the food will be at peak freshness for 15 days, however as long as you store it correctly (cool, dry place away from sunlight), the food will last for as long as required. One of the most common mistakes a pet owner makes is to transfer their food from a bag to a storage container and then throw away the bag.
The best approach would be to keep the food in its original packaging and then place this in a sealed container. This will help to prevent the fats that are present in the meats from oxidising. Our bags and their packaging are designed to ensure optimal freshness and this will help to keep the food appetising for as long as possible.
Whereas unopened bags will have a shelf life of around 12 to 18 months, once opened it will start to go stale and less appealing, as air and moisture get into it, and the food will start to degrade.
Tips to keep fresh:

• Keep in a cool dark place that is dry, ideally away from any moisture or heat.
  This will help to prolong its life

• Store in original packaging, placed in a food container

• Buy smaller bags. Particularly with smaller dogs who do not eat as much. This will help to keep their food fresher

How should I store pet food to maintain its freshness?

How do I choose the right food for my pet?
This is a very extensive question, and guidance on selecting the most appropriate food will be based on your pet’s age, breed, size and dietary needs. We would always recommend consulting with a veterinarian regarding the nutritional advice for your specific pet as we can only offer a generalised response, that isn’t tailored to your pet’s specific needs.
Our range of pet food is designed with the health of pets in mind, which is why we offer foods that are grain-free, gluten-free, meat meal free, and more. However, when it comes to pets with certain health conditions, or specific dietary needs, our recommendation would always be to consult your vet wherever possible if you are unsure – the most important thing to us and you is the wellbeing of the pet. As mentioned however, our food is an excellent choice due to the nature of its composition. We have a range of products on offer, with each offering something uniquely beneficial to your pets.
Are your products suitable for pets with allergies or dietary restrictions?
Our food is aimed at pets of all ages but with no previous morbidities or pathologies, so we do not have specifically tailored food targeted to allergies or certain dietary restrictions, that’s not to say our food would not be suitable, but we’d need to look into our product recommendation for you further in order to do what’s best for your pet.

Are the plastic trays in 9kg boxes recyclable?
Yes – the trays are made from monoplastic so are 100% recyclable.
Can you confirm whether the Brewers Yeast used in the food is Gluten free?
As one of the criteria for claiming that the product is “gluten-free”, the FDA set a gluten content limit of less than 20 ppm (parts per million) for the unavoidable presence of gluten in foods bearing this label. This is the lowest level that can be consistently detected in foods using valid scientific analytical tools. Furthermore, most people with coeliac disease can tolerate foods with very small amounts of gluten. This level is in line with internationally established levels.
This is useful for people or animals that are intolerant, but not for people or animals that are allergic, which cannot come into contact with even the permitted concentration.
Does the cold pressed process heat the proteins enough to kill salmonella, listeria etc, and tapeworm eggs?
Low-pressure compaction does not mean that the raw materials have not undergone a thermal process necessary to ensure the conditions required by legislation to allow a company to market its products safely.
They will never be subjected to the extreme temperatures of meat and fish meal extrusion.
In addition, our raw materials come from suppliers authorised by public health and animal health, which means that our raw materials are free of, among other things, parasites or parasite eggs.
On the other hand the 90 degrees centigrade that are obtained inside the product for at least 30 minutes, is sufficient to eliminate pathogens such as salmonella and enterobacteria.
The temperatures applied in the different phases are sufficient to achieve food safety, which is confirmed by the microbiological results that are routinely carried out on the products before placing them on the market.
LISTERIA: cooking at temperatures above 70°C for 2 minutes destroys the bacteria SALMONELLA: bacteria are eliminated by heat treatment above 70ºC.

Can you please advise where you get your meat and fish from, including if the meat is free range and if the fish is intensively farmed?
Our raw materials are sourced from suppliers who comply with the animal welfare standards required by current legislation.
Depending on the recipe, the fish may be farmed or caught, and the animals may or may not be intensively farmed. As per the product packaging, the Poultry and Duck are ‘Free-Range’.
