Multi Protein Complete Dog Food
FOR BOTH CATS AND DOGS
Whether you need advice on Alpha Spirit, Primal Spirit or just general
help, this guide has everything you need.
YOUR MUST-HAVE GUIDE TO ALPHA SPIRIT
From which food is best for your pet, to puppy transitioning and what exactly
is semi-moist food?
RAW FEEDING
Can I mix raw feeding with Alpha Spirit Dry Food?
Feeding your dog a combination of high meat content dry dog food and raw food
is commonly referred to as a “mixed feeding” or “hybrid diet.” It’s essential
to provide a balanced and nutritious diet to meet your dog’s specific needs.
However, there are some important considerations to keep in mind:
Balance: Ensure that the combination of high meat content dry dog food and raw
food provides a balanced diet that meets your dog’s nutritional requirements.
Consult with a veterinarian or a canine nutritionist to create a balanced meal
plan tailored to your dog’s age, size, activity level, and health condition.
Transition Gradually: When introducing new foods into your dog’s diet, it’s
crucial to do so gradually. Sudden dietary changes can upset your dog’s
stomach. Gradually mix in the new food over several days to allow your dog’s
digestive system to adapt.
Monitoring and Adjusting: Keep a close eye on your dog’s overall health and
condition. If you notice any adverse reactions or health issues, consult with
your veterinarian promptly. You may need to adjust the ratio of dry food to
raw food based on your dog’s response.
Consult with a Professional: It’s always a good idea to consult with a
veterinarian or a veterinary nutritionist before making significant changes to
your dog’s diet. They can provide guidance based on your dog’s specific needs
and health status.
Age and Health Considerations: Puppies, senior dogs, and dogs with certain
health conditions may have different dietary requirements. Be sure to tailor
your dog’s diet accordingly.
Remember that every dog is unique, and what works for one may not work for
another. The key is to prioritise your dog’s health and well-being by
providing a balanced and safe diet that meets their specific needs. Consulting
with a professional can help you make informed decisions about your dog’s
diet.
Is it good to introduce a semi-moist diet to a dog that’s currently being
fed raw?
Introducing semi-moist food into a dog’s diet that is currently fed raw food
can be done, but it’s important to consider a few factors.
Nutritional Balance: Semi-moist food often contains higher levels of
preservatives and artificial flavours compared to raw food. Ensure that the
semi-moist food you choose provides a balanced diet for your dog, including
adequate levels of protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals. All of our foods
meet FEDIAF’s nutritional requirements.
Transitioning: Dogs can have sensitive digestive systems, so any dietary
changes should be introduced gradually. Start by mixing small amounts of semi-
moist food with your dog’s raw food, gradually increasing the proportion of
semi-moist food over several days to allow your dog’s digestive system to
adjust.
Monitoring Health: Keep an eye on your dog’s health and well-being during the
transition period and after fully incorporating the semi-moist food into their
diet.
Look for any signs of digestive upset, allergic reactions, or changes in
energy levels or coat condition.
Consulting a Vet: It’s always a good idea to consult with a veterinarian
before making significant changes to your dog’s diet. They can provide
personalised advice based on your dog’s specific nutritional needs and any
health concerns they may have.
Ultimately, whether semi-moist food is a good addition to your dog’s diet
depends on your dog’s individual needs, preferences, and overall health.
GENERAL PUPPY ADVICE
As a general rule, when can I move my dog from puppy food to adult food?
The timing for transitioning your dog from puppy food to adult food can vary
depending on the breed, size, and individual development of your dog. However,
as a general guideline, most dogs can make the transition around 12 to 18
months of age. Here are some factors to consider:
Size and Breed: Smaller dog breeds tend to mature faster than larger breeds.
Smaller breeds may be ready for adult food closer to 12 months, while larger
breeds may benefit from staying on puppy food until around 18 months. Some
giant breeds may even take longer to fully mature.
Growth Rate: Monitor your dog’s growth rate. If they are growing at a steady
pace and maintaining a healthy weight, they may be ready for adult food
sooner. Rapid growth can put stress on a puppy’s developing bones and joints,
so it’s essential to consult with your veterinarian to determine the right
timing.
Veterinary Advice: Always consult with your veterinarian before making the
switch. They can evaluate your dog’s specific needs and provide guidance on
when to transition based on their overall health and development.
Nutritional Needs: Puppy food is formulated to meet the higher energy and
nutrient requirements of growing puppies. Adult dogs have different
nutritional needs, so it’s essential to switch to an appropriate adult dog
food that meets those needs.
Weight and Body Condition: Ensure that your dog maintains a healthy weight and
body condition throughout the transition. If they start to gain excess weight
or become too thin, you may need to adjust their diet accordingly.
Gradual Transition: When you decide it’s time to switch, do so gradually. Mix
a small amount of the new adult food with their puppy food and gradually
increase the proportion of adult food over the course of about a week. This
helps prevent digestive upset.
GENERAL FEEDING ADVICE
Can you mix dog food flavours?
Yes, you can mix different flavours of dog food if you want to provide some
variety in your dog’s diet. Mixing flavours can be a good way to add some
novelty and potentially make mealtime more interesting for your dog. However,
there are a few things to keep in mind:
Transition Gradually: If you’re introducing a new flavour or brand of dog
food, it’s essential to do so gradually. Sudden changes in diet can upset your
dog’s stomach and lead to digestive issues. Start by mixing a small amount of
the new food with the old food, and gradually increase the proportion of the
new food over several days.
Consider Your Dog’s Preferences: Not all dogs have the same taste preferences.
Some may enjoy a variety of flavours, while others may be sensitive to changes
in their diet. Pay attention to your dog’s reactions and adjust accordingly.
Check for Allergies or Sensitivities: If your dog has known food allergies or
sensitivities, be cautious when mixing flavours. Ensure that the new flavours
you introduce do not contain ingredients that could trigger allergic
reactions.
Maintain Nutritional Balance: While it’s okay to mix flavours, you should
still aim to maintain a balanced and nutritionally complete diet for your dog.
Ensure that the different dog foods you mix provide the necessary nutrients,
including proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals, to meet your
dog’s specific needs.
Consult Your Veterinarian: If you have any concerns about your dog’s diet or
are considering significant changes, it’s always a good idea to consult with
your veterinarian. They can provide guidance tailored to your dog’s individual
health and dietary requirements.
Remember that consistency in your dog’s diet is also important for their
digestive health. So, while it’s okay to mix flavours occasionally or provide
variety, try to maintain a relatively consistent feeding routine to avoid
causing digestive upset.
What is the difference between semi-moist and dry dog food?
Semi-moist and dry dog food are two different types of commercial dog food,
and they have distinct characteristics:
-
Moisture Content:
– Dry Dog Food: Dry dog food, often referred to as kibble, contains very low moisture content, typically around 10-12%. This low moisture level contributes to its long shelf life.
– Semi-Moist Dog Food: Semi-moist dog food contains a higher moisture content, typically ranging from 25-35%. This makes it softer and chewier compared to dry kibble. -
Texture and Consistency:
– Dry Dog Food: Dry dog food is hard and crunchy. It requires dogs to chew it thoroughly, which can be beneficial for their dental health as it helps remove plaque and tartar from their teeth.
– Semi-Moist Dog Food: Semi-moist dog food has a soft and chewy texture, similar to many treats or human snacks. This texture can be more appealing to some dogs, making it a preferred choice for picky eaters. -
Packaging and Shelf Life:
– Dry Dog Food: Dry dog food is typically packaged in bags or containers and has a longer shelf life due to its lower moisture content. It is less prone to spoilage and can be stored for extended periods without refrigeration.
– Semi-Moist Dog Food: Semi-moist dog food is often packaged in pouches or small containers. Its higher moisture content makes it more susceptible to spoilage, so it usually has a shorter shelf life.
When choosing between semi-moist and dry dog food, consider your dog’s preferences, dietary needs, and any specific health considerations. It’s also a good idea to consult with your veterinarian to ensure you’re providing the best nutrition for your furry companion.
How should I transition my pet onto a new food?
Transitioning your pet onto a new food should be done gradually to help
prevent digestive upset. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to transition your
pet to a new food:
Start Gradually: Begin the transition by mixing a small amount of the new food
with your pet’s current food. Start with a ratio of about 75% old food to 25%
new food. This means that only a quarter of their meal consists of the new
food initially.
Monitor for Digestive Issues: Watch your pet closely during the transition.
Pay attention to any signs of digestive upset such as diarrhoea, vomiting, or
changes in appetite. If you notice any problems, slow down the transition
process.
Gradual Increase: Over the course of about 4 weeks, gradually increase the
proportion of the new food and decrease the old food. For example:
Week 1: 75% old food, 25% new food
Week 2: 50% old food, 50% new food
Week 3: 25% old food, 75% new food
Week 4: 100% new food
Observe Your Pet: Continue to monitor your pet’s overall health and any
changes in their stool consistency or behaviour during and after the
transition.
Stay Consistent: Once the transition is complete, feed your pet the new food
exclusively. Consistency is essential to avoid digestive issues and ensure
your pet receives the proper nutrition from their new diet.
Adjust Portions: After fully transitioning to the new food, monitor your pet’s
weight and adjust the portion sizes as needed to maintain a healthy weight and
body condition.
Stay Hydrated: Make sure your pet has access to fresh water at all times.
Proper hydration is crucial for their overall health.
Keep in mind that some pets may require a longer transition period, especially
if they have sensitive stomachs or are particularly resistant to dietary
changes. Always consult with your veterinarian if you have concerns or if
you’re transitioning your pet to a special diet due to medical reasons.
What is cold-pressed dog food?
Cold-pressed dog food is a type of premium dog food that is manufactured
using a unique production process that differs from traditional methods of
making dry kibble or canned dog food. This process is designed to preserve the
nutritional integrity of the ingredients and create a more natural, minimally
processed dog food option. Here’s are some of its key features:
Gentle Processing: The main characteristic of cold-pressed dog food is the
lowtemperature processing method. Unlike traditional extrusion methods used in
most dry kibble production, cold-pressed dog food is made by applying pressure
and low heat. This process is gentler and maintains more of the natural
nutrients in the ingredients.
Retained Nutritional Value: Because of the lower processing temperature,
coldpressed dog food retains a higher level of heat-sensitive nutrients such
as vitamins, enzymes, and amino acids, compared to conventional dog food
production methods. This can be beneficial for your dog’s overall health and
well-being.
High-Quality Ingredients: Cold-pressed dog foods typically use high-quality,
natural ingredients. You’ll often find meat, fish, and other protein sources
listed as the main ingredients, and the use of grains and fillers is usually
minimised.
Limited Additives: Cold-pressed dog foods tend to have fewer artificial
additives, preservatives, and colourings compared to some mainstream dog
foods. This makes them a preferred choice for pet owners seeking a more
natural diet for their dogs.
Improved Digestibility: The gentler processing method and high-quality
ingredients can contribute to improved digestibility for some dogs, which may
result in reduced digestive issues, such as gas or upset stomach.
It’s important to note that while cold-pressed dog food is generally
considered a high-quality option, individual dogs may have unique dietary
requirements or sensitivities. As with any dog food choice, it’s essential to
consult with your veterinarian to determine the best diet for your specific
dog’s needs. Additionally, the cost of cold-pressed dog food is typically
higher than that of traditional dog foods due to the use of premium
ingredients and specialised manufacturing processes.
Is cold-pressed dog food suitable for pregnant and nursing mothers, as well
as weaning puppies?
Cold-pressed dog food can be a suitable option for pregnant and nursing
mothers, as well as weaning puppies, but it’s important to consider some
factors and consult with a veterinarian to ensure the best nutrition for these
specific life stages.
Pregnant and Nursing Mothers: Pregnant and nursing dogs have increased
nutritional needs to support both their own health and the development of the
puppies. Cold-pressed dog food can provide a balanced diet, but you should
look for a formula that is specifically formulated for pregnant and nursing
dogs. These formulas typically have higher protein and calorie content to
support the increased energy demands during this period. It’s essential to
consult with a veterinarian to determine the specific dietary requirements for
your dog.
Weaning Puppies: Cold-pressed dog food can also be suitable for weaning
puppies, but it’s crucial to choose a puppy-specific formula. Puppies have
different nutritional needs than adult dogs, including higher protein levels
and specific nutrients for growth and development. Ensure that the cold-
pressed food you select is appropriate for puppies, and consider the weaning
process, which involves transitioning from milk to solid food. Consult with a
vet for guidance on the best weaning practices and suitable foods.
Consulting with a Veterinarian: Regardless of the life stage, it’s always a
good idea to consult with a veterinarian when choosing the right diet for your
dog, especially during pregnancy, nursing, and puppy growth stages. A vet can
provide personalised advice based on your dog’s specific needs, size, breed,
and any health considerations.
In summary, cold-pressed dog food can be a nutritious option for dogs at
various life stages, including pregnant and nursing mothers and weaning
puppies. However, it’s crucial to choose formulas that are specifically
designed for these life stages and to consult with a veterinarian to ensure
your dog’s dietary needs are met. Every dog is unique, and professional
guidance can help you make the best dietary choices for their health and well-
being.
REACTIONS + COMPLAINTS
Why is my dog throwing up since transitioning to Alpha Spirit?
Diarrhea and vomiting can be caused by a transition too fast for the animal.
All dogs are not the same and some need more time than others.
It may also be due to an intolerance of the animal to some of its components,
perhaps you can change the variety and see if this is the reason.
And of course, remove the food and return to the previous diet that did not
cause gastrointestinal problems.
This is based on the understanding that the animal had no previous morbidities
or pathologies and that it is being fed the food corresponding to its age,
size, etc.
If you are having issues with sickness in your dog, and you don’t feel it
could be related to any of the above reasons, please reach out and we can
speak with the manufacturer directly.
Why does my food have a very bad smell?
Due to the high meat content within our product, it can be quite potent and
strong smelling, particularly when first opening the bag, but this not
something that should cause alarm, as it is completely normal.
Why is my dog itching on her new food?
DItching and skin issues in dogs can be caused by a variety of factors, and
it’s not always directly related to a change in their food. However, a new
food can sometimes trigger allergic reactions or sensitivities in dogs,
leading to itching and skin problems. Here are some potential reasons why your
dog may be itching after switching to a new food:
Food Allergies: Your dog might be allergic to one or more ingredients in the
new food. Common allergens in dog food include proteins like beef, chicken,
and dairy, as well as grains like wheat and corn. Switching to a food with
different ingredients may help alleviate the allergy symptoms.
Food Sensitivities: Dogs can develop sensitivities to certain ingredients over
time, even if they haven’t been allergic to them before. It’s possible that an
ingredient in the new food is causing a sensitivity reaction.
Gradual Transition: If you switched to the new food abruptly without a gradual
transition, it could upset your dog’s stomach and skin. Gradually mixing the
new food with the old food over a period of about a week can help prevent
digestive and skin issues during the transition.
Other Factors: It’s also essential to consider other factors that could be
contributing to your dog’s itching, such as environmental allergens (pollen,
dust mites), parasites (fleas, ticks), or skin infections. These issues can
coincide with a food change and may require separate treatment.
If your dog is experiencing persistent itching or skin problems after
switching to a new food, it’s advisable to consult with your veterinarian.
They can help determine the cause of the issue through allergy testing, skin
scrapings, or other diagnostic procedures. Your vet can also provide guidance
on the most appropriate diet for your dog’s specific needs, whether that
involves continuing with the new food, selecting a different one, or
considering other options.
Why is the kibble a different colour, size, smell, or texture to usual?
Unlike other brands on the market, our manufacturing process is 100% natural,
with 100% natural ingredients, cooked at low temperatures and cold-pressed due
to this natural process, changes in the kibble will occur.
Differences in the scent, texture, colour, and size of dog food kibble between
batches are attributed to various factors in the manufacturing process and
variations in the raw materials used. Here are some reasons why these
differences can occur:
Variations in Raw Materials: The primary ingredients used in dog food kibble,
such as the meat can vary in quality and composition from batch to batch.
Different batches of raw materials may have different levels of moisture, fat,
protein, and other nutrients, which can affect the final product’s
characteristics.
Manufacturing Process: The manufacturing process itself can introduce
variations. For example, the cooking temperature and time, as well as the
equipment used, can impact the texture and colour of the kibble. All of our
food is cooked at low temperatures.
Fat Content: Differences in the fat content of the base ingredients can play a
significant role. If one batch of raw materials is lean and low in fat, an
external coating may be added to achieve the desired fat percentage, which can
affect both texture and scent. Conversely, if another batch already has
sufficient fat content, no external coating may be necessary, leading to a
different final product.
Natural Variability: Natural ingredients can have inherent variations. For
example, grains and meats can have different colours and scents based on
factors like the region they come from, the specific crop or animal, and the
time of harvest or processing.
Seasonal Changes: Seasonal variations in raw materials, such as changes in
availability, can affect the composition and characteristics of the kibble.
Why is the kibble a different colour, size, smell, or texture to usual?
Continued…
It’s important to note that variations in the characteristics of dog food
kibble between batches are generally considered normal and acceptable within
the industry. Consumers can help mitigate any potential issues by gradually
transitioning their pets to new batches of food and monitoring their pets’
health and reactions when introducing a new batch.
If you were to purchase a regular supermarket dog food, you would typically
find that the kibble is always consistent, but this is because of over-
processed ingredients and manufacturing of the product. With our food being
100% natural in ingredients and process, changes between the food from batch-
to-batch is plausible.
If you still have any food available from a batch they did eat, or a different
brand of food they like, we would recommend a combination of the two (still
abiding by the daily feeding recommendations) to gradually transition them to
the new batch which allows them to adapt to the new scent/texture, etc.

Can you tell me what the significance is of the ‘7 day’ in the 7 Days
Formula Dry Food?
The Only One 7 days is a commercial name, its formula is nutritionally correct
for a complete feed, it was made because the market, at the time, demanded a
product with a higher amount of porcine protein. There is no technical
explanation as all our feeds are complete feeds. They can all be fed with the
same frequency. They are merely named for a marketing tool.
Why are there no vegetables in your foods?
Since Alpha Spirit is defined as ‘wild and perfect’ with an aim to bring dogs
back to their origins, Alpha Spirit prefer to stay aside from the trend of
addressing our product to humans by adding what is healthy to themselves. The
Alpha Spirit brand focuses on the foods that a dog would naturally choose in
the wild. We do however add small proportions of fruit and herbs in some foods
for functional properties.
Where is the information about vitamin and mineral content?
Only those that are added and have a legal maximum are put on the labelling.
There are other products such as snacks, etc. that are not nutritionally
analysed as they are not complete.
There are other products that are put in the analytical composition because
they are provided by the fresh raw materials and are not added.
Can you tell me more about the Glucosamine levels in your food?
It must be understood that the intake is not a supplement in which an exact
amount is given. This glucosamine is provided by the different raw materials
in the recipes, so it can vary. There is no external supply of glucosamine.
You should also be aware that FEDIAF does not set any upper or lower limit on
it, and European legislation does not set a legal or nutritional maximum.

There are no official definitions but there are industry standard definitions:
Dry Pet Food: Pet food with a moisture content of 14% or less
Semi-Moist Pet Food: Food with a moisture content between 14% and 60%
Alpha Spirit Soft foods have a moisture content of 25% and are therefore
classified as semi-moist
The Only One foods have a moisture content of 14% and are therefore classified
as dry
The degree of hardness of our soft food is compared to The Only One by the
water activity of each feed group. It will not be compared with the other
products on the market, there would be too many and too difficult to perform.
If the food is cold-pressed, we would expect the semimoist dog food to be
softer?
Cold-pressed dog food is a unique and innovative method of preparing pet food
that involves using low temperatures during the manufacturing process. This
gentle process helps to retain the nutritional integrity of the ingredients
while reducing the risk of nutrient loss that can occur with traditional high-
heat cooking methods.
Cold-pressed dog food typically falls somewhere between dry kibble and
traditional wet food in terms of consistency. It is designed to be firm enough
to promote dental health and encourage chewing, which can help with dental
hygiene.
However, it should not be overly hard to the point that it becomes challenging
for your dog to eat comfortably.
If you find that the cold-pressed dog food you purchased is too hard for your
dog, here are a few suggestions to ensure your furry friend enjoys their
meals:
Moistening the Food: You can add a bit of warm water to the food and allow it
to sit for a few minutes before serving. This will soften the food and make it
easier for your dog to chew and digest.
Mixing with Wet Food: You can also mix the cold-pressed dog food with a small
portion of canned or wet dog food. This will create a softer texture and
enhance the flavour, making it more appealing to your dog.
Portion Control: Make sure you are feeding your dog the appropriate portion
size based on their age, size, and activity level. Overfeeding can sometimes
lead to difficulty in chewing.
Transition Period: If you have recently switched to cold-pressed dog food from
a different type of food, it may take some time for your dog to adjust to the
new texture. A gradual transition can help your dog become accustomed to the
change.
We understand that every dog is unique, and what works best for one may not be
suitable for another. If you continue to have concerns or if your dog is
having difficulty with the cold-pressed dog food, please do not hesitate to
contact us directly. We are committed to ensuring both you and your furry
companion are satisfied with our products, and we are more than happy to
assist you in finding a solution.

Why does your puppy food not have any added multivitamins, will this hinder
my puppy?
Our food is aimed at puppies of all ages but with no previous morbidities or
pathologies or that due to their racial characteristics would need
supplementation, as it complies with the requirements set out in the FEDIAF
guide, always with the variation that occurs due to the use of fresh raw
materials.
Other brands, when working with meat or fish meal at very high temperatures,
destroy many of the vitamins that animals need for their nutrition, which is
why they have to add them afterwards, whereas Alpha Spirit is cold-pressed and
cooked at ow temperatures.
What size is your Puppy Food kibble?

Can you tell me what food standards your food meets?
Our company applies in all our products the nutritional requirements of FEDIAF
as well as the food safety requirements of the European legislation which is
adapted to the requirements of the UK.
I’m concerned that my food is only safe for consumption within 15 days due
to the packaging?
Once opened, the food will be at peak freshness for 15 days, however as long
as you store it correctly (cool, dry place away from sunlight), the food will
last for as long as required. One of the most common mistakes a pet owner
makes is to transfer their food from a bag to a storage container and then
throw away the bag.
The best approach would be to keep the food in its original packaging and then
place this in a sealed container. This will help to prevent the fats that are
present in the meats from oxidising. Our bags and their packaging are designed
to ensure optimal freshness and this will help to keep the food appetising for
as long as possible.
Whereas unopened bags will have a shelf life of around 12 to 18 months, once
opened it will start to go stale and less appealing, as air and moisture get
into it, and the food will start to degrade.
Tips to keep fresh:
-
Keep in a cool dark place that is dry, ideally away from any moisture or heat.
This will help to prolong its life -
Store in original packaging, placed in a food container
-
Buy smaller bags. Particularly with smaller dogs who do not eat as much. This will help to keep their food fresher
We have further advice on how to keep your food fresh in another FAQ.
How should I store pet food to maintain its freshness?
Here are some tips on how to store pet food effectively:
Keep it in the original packaging: Pet food bags and containers are designed
to keep food fresh and protect it from moisture and pests.
Seal the bag tightly: If you’ve opened a bag of pet food, be sure to reseal it
properly. Use a clip, binder, or airtight container to seal the bag and
prevent air and moisture from getting in.
Use an airtight container: If you want an extra layer of protection, transfer
the food to an airtight container.
Store in a cool, dry place: Keep pet food in a cool, dry area, away from
direct sunlight and heat sources. High temperatures can cause the food to
degrade and lose nutritional value
Avoid humidity: Moisture can cause pet food to spoil and can even lead to
mould growth. Keep the food in a place where humidity is minimal.
Don’t store in the garage: Garages are not ideal for pet food storage, as they
can become very hot in the summer and cold in the winter, compromising the
food’s quality. Store pet food indoors instead.
Clean the storage container: If you’re using an airtight container, clean it
regularly to prevent the buildup of oils and food residue. This can help
maintain the freshness of the food.
Consider portion control: If you buy large bags of pet food, consider
portioning out smaller amounts for daily use. This reduces the frequency of
opening and closing the bag, which can expose the food to air and moisture.
Be mindful of food type: Different types of our pet food (dry kibble, canned)
have varying storage requirements. Follow our recommendations in the product
listing for the specific type of food you’re using.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your pet’s food remains
fresh and safe for consumption throughout its shelf life. Always refer to our
instructions and recommendations for specific storage guidelines for the pet
food you use.
How do I choose the right food for my pet?
This is a very extensive question, and guidance on selecting the most
appropriate food will be based on your pet’s age, breed, size and dietary
needs. We would always recommend consulting with a veterinarian regarding the
nutritional advice for your specific pet as we can only offer a generalised
response, that isn’t tailored to your pet’s specific needs.
Our range of pet food is designed with the health of pets in mind, which is
why we offer foods that are grain-free, gluten-free, meat meal free, and more.
However, when it comes to pets with certain health conditions, or specific
dietary needs, our recommendation would always be to consult your vet wherever
possible if you are unsure – the most important thing to us and you is the
wellbeing of the pet. As mentioned however, our food is an excellent choice
due to the nature of its composition. We have a range of products on offer,
with each offering something uniquely beneficial to your pets.
Are your products suitable for pets with allergies or dietary
restrictions?
Our food is aimed at pets of all ages but with no previous morbidities or
pathologies, so we do not have specifically tailored food targeted to
allergies or certain dietary restrictions, that’s not to say our food would
not be suitable, but we’d need to look into our product recommendation for you
further in order to do what’s best for your pet.
Where is Alpha Spirit manufactured?
Spain.
Are the plastic trays in 9kg boxes recyclable?
Yes – the trays are made from monoplastic so are 100% recyclable.
Can you confirm whether the Brewers Yeast used in the food is Gluten
free?
As one of the criteria for claiming that the product is “gluten-free”, the FDA
set a gluten content limit of less than 20 ppm (parts per million) for the
unavoidable presence of gluten in foods bearing this label. This is the lowest
level that can be consistently detected in foods using valid scientific
analytical tools. Furthermore, most people with coeliac disease can tolerate
foods with very small amounts of gluten. This level is in line with
internationally established levels.
This is useful for people or animals that are intolerant, but not for people
or animals that are allergic, which cannot come into contact with even the
permitted concentration.
Does the cold pressed process heat the proteins enough to kill salmonella,
listeria etc, and tapeworm eggs?
Low-pressure compaction does not mean that the raw materials have not
undergone a thermal process necessary to ensure the conditions required by
legislation to allow a company to market its products safely.
They will never be subjected to the extreme temperatures of meat and fish meal
extrusion.
In addition, our raw materials come from suppliers authorised by public health
and animal health, which means that our raw materials are free of, among other
things, parasites or parasite eggs.
On the other hand the 90 degrees centigrade that are obtained inside the
product for at least 30 minutes, is sufficient to eliminate pathogens such as
salmonella and enterobacteria.
The temperatures applied in the different phases are sufficient to achieve
food safety, which is confirmed by the microbiological results that are
routinely carried out on the products before placing them on the market.
LISTERIA: cooking at temperatures above 70°C for 2 minutes destroys the
bacteria SALMONELLA: bacteria are eliminated by heat treatment above 70ºC.
CYSTICERCOSIS: elimination by heat treatment at:
72ºC (1min)
45ºC (10 min)
ECHINOCOCCUS: 65ºC (3 hours)
TOXOPLASMA GONDII:
55ºC (44sec)
63ºC (6 sec)
TRICHINELLA: 70ºC(2 MIN)
What is the recommended feeding schedule and portion sizes?
The recommended daily feeding amount can be found on each product listing in
the images section. Our recommended daily amounts are calculated on the basis
of the FEDIAF nutritional guidelines.
