Product Usage Instructions

  • Installing EMI-Core
    • Attach the EMI core to the included Ethernet cable before connecting it.
  • Cable Connection
    • Turn off the printer and peripheral devices.
    • Connect the power cord to the adapter and connect the adapter to the power supply connector of the printer.
    • Check the type of the interfaces at the back of the printer (USB, Ethernet) and connect the interface cable.
    • Connect the drawer kick-out cable to the drawer kick-out port located on the underside of the printer.
  • Installing Paper Roll
    • Open the printer cover by pulling the Open Cover lever forward.
    • Insert new roll paper in the correct direction.
    • Pull the paper out slightly and close the Printer Cover.
  • Using Control Panel
    • Ensure proper connection with Ethernet Port, USB-A(Host), USB-B, USB-C, Power Port, and Drawer Kick-out Port. The error light and paper light blink alternately when the printer is turned on but both go off after booting is completed.
  • Self-Test
    • You can check whether the printer works correctly through the self-test function. Follow these steps:
    • After the printer boots up, open the printer cover.
    • Load paper, press the FEED button, and close the printer cover to start the self-test.
    • The printer stops after printing version information and setting the status as indicated.

  • Q: What should I do if the error light and paper light blink alternately?
    • A: Both lights will go off after booting is completed. If they persist, refer to the user manual or contact customer support for assistance.

Components

Cable Connection

  1. Turn off the printer and peripheral devices.
  2. Connect the power cord to the adapter and connect the adapter to the power supply connector of the printer.
  3. Check the type of the interfaces at the back of the printer (USB, Ethernet) and connect the interface cable.
  4. Connect the drawer kick-out cable to the drawer kick-out port located on the underside of the printer.
    • Be sure to turn off the printer and connect or disconnect the power jack.
    • Only use a power supply provided by Bixolon.
    • Pay attention to the direction in which you insert the power jack.
    • If you connect a USB-B port and a USB-C port at the same time, only the USB-B port will work.
    • The USB-C port only supports USB-C-type smart devices. (Set Smart Device Mode and connect to a USB-C port.)

Installing EMI-Core

  • Attach the EMI core to the included Ethernet cable before connecting it.

Installing Paper Roll

  1. Open the printer cover by pulling the Open Cover lever forward.
  2. Insert new roll paper in the correct direction.
  3. Pull the paper out slightly and close the Printer Cover.
    • When closing the cover, press down on the centre of the cover to ensure that the paper is in contact with the roller.
    • Printing quality may not be optimum if the recommended paper is not used.

Using Control Panel

  • Error (LED)
    • The red light will be on in various error conditions such as out of paper, cover open, etc.
  • Paper (LED)
    • Red LED will be lit when the paper roll is running low.
    • The LED keeps blinking when the printer is in self-test standby mode or macro execution standby mode.
  • Feed (Button)
    • Press this button to feed the paper out. Hold down this button to feed out the paper continuously.
  • Power (Slide Switch)
    • Power On: To turn on the printer, slide the power switch to the ON direction(right side).
    • Power Off: To turn off the printer, slide the power switch to the OFF direction(left side). The error light and paper light blink alternately when the printer is turned on, but both go off after booting is completed.

Self-Test

You can check whether the printer works correctly or not through the self- test. Printing quality, ROM version, and memory switch settings can be checked through the self-test function.

  1. After the printer boots up, open the printer cover.
  2. Self-test is started when the paper is loaded, the FEED button is pressed, and the printer cover is closed.
  3. The printer stops after printing the version information and setting status as shown below.
    • ( Note: Paper error light keeps blinking.)
    • SELECT MODE BY PRESSING THE FEED BUTTON.
    • Exit SELF-TEST: Less than 1 second
    • Mode Selection: 1 second or more
  4. To select the Exit SELF-TEST mode, press the FEED button less than 1 second quickly. To select the Mode Selection, press the FEED button for more than 1 second.
  5. If “Exit SELF-TEST” is selected
  6. The self-test ends automatically as it prints the following line and cuts the paper. – COMPLETED – 4-1-2 The printer goes into normal print mode upon completion of the self-test. 4-2 If “Mode Selection” is selected 4-2-1 The printer is on standby after printout as shown below.

    *  **0:** Exit
    *  **1:** VMSM Selection Mode
    *  **2:** Interface Setting
    *  **3:** Hexadecimal Dumping
3. Press the Feed button to run the above function. ▶ Step 1(Select Options): press the button sometimes as shown by each menu. ▶ Step 2(Enter Options): hold down the button for at least one second to apply each item selected.
4. If you select any items not listed above, the list of “Setting Mode Selection” will be printed again. Setting the mode will be cancelled if no item is selected in Step 1.
5. If “VMSM Selection Mode” is selected
6. The following lines will be printed when the VMSM opens.
7.  **VMSM Selection**
  *  **0:** Exit and reboot printer
  *  **1:** Print current settings
  *  **2:** Set Print Density
  *  **3:** Set Print Speed
  *  **4:** Set Cutting mode
  *  **5:** Set Internal Buzzer control
  *  **6:** Set Buzzer control after cutting
  *  **7:** Set Code Page
  *  **8:** Set International Character
  *  **9:** Set USB PD 10 or more: None
8. Press the Feed button to run the above function.
  *  **Step 1** (Select Options): press the button sometimes as shown by each menu.
  *  **Step 2** (Enter Options): hold down the button for at least one second to apply each item selected.
    * If you select any items not listed above, the list of “VMSM Selection” will be printed again. Setting the mode will be cancelled if no item is selected in Step 1.
    * If “0: Exit and reboot printer” is not executed, the new settings will not be saved.
9. Hold down the Feed button for at least 1 second to save the changes. The following line will be printed before cutting the paper. – COMPLETED –
10. The new settings will be automatically applied when the printer resets.
