Product Usage Instructions

Quick Start Guide:

  1. Connect a power supply to VIN and GND, set VIN to 5V.
  2. Connect electronic load positive terminal to VOUT, negative terminal to GND.
  3. To enable IC, place a jumper at JH6 to ON position, disable by moving to OFF position.
  4. Verify 24V output voltage at VOUT and GND terminals.
  5. Check for stable operation with a 30mA load, monitor SW signal with an oscilloscope.

Measurement/Performance Guidelines:

  1. Maintain short ground lengths when measuring output voltage ripple.
  2. For efficiency measurements, use an ammeter for input current and an electronic load for output current.

FAQ:

  • Q: What should I do if the output voltage exceeds the OVP threshold?
A: The device will go into shutdown mode automatically when the output voltage surpasses the OVP threshold of 29V.

  • Q: How can I measure the switching frequency?
A: Connect an oscilloscope to monitor the SW signal and measure the switching frequency for stable operation.

QUICK START GUIDE

The AP3012K-EVM has a simple layout and allows access to the appropriate signals through test points. To evaluate the performance of the AP3012KTR, follow the procedure below:

  1. Connect a power supply to the input terminals VIN and GND. Set VIN to 5V.
  2. Connect the positive terminal of the electronic load to VOUT and negative terminal to GND.
  3. For Enable, to enable IC, place a jumper at JH6 to “ON” position to connect EN pin to VIN through 100KΩ resistor. Jump to “OFF” position to disable IC.
  4. The evaluation board should now power up with a 24V output voltage.
  5. Check for the proper output voltage of 24V at the output terminals VOUT and GND. Measurement can also be done with a multimeter with the positive and negative leads between VOUT_S and GND.
  6. Set the load to 30mA through the electronic load. Check for the stable operation of the SW signal on the oscilloscope. Measure the switching frequency.

MEASUREMENT/PERFORMANCE GUIDELINES

  1. When measuring the output voltage ripple, maintain the shortest possible ground lengths on the oscilloscope probe. Long ground leads can erroneously inject high-frequency noise into the measured ripple.
  2. For efficiency measurements, connect an ammeter in series with the input supply to measure the input current. Connect an electronic load to the output for output current.
