INSTALLATION GUIDE
42 L x 8 D Reclaimed Wood Wall Shelf
IMPORTANT
STOP! PLEASE READ!
By default, our 3″ thick shelves include standard floating bracket hardware
that will support the shelf plus approximately 40-50 pounds of weight
allowance per set of brackets (set of 2 brackets). Because your shelf should
be mounted to a wall stud and stud spacing differs between homes, the shelf
must be drilled with a 1/2″ drill bit for the standard hardware to be
inserted.
Our standard hardware is intuitive to use, but if you prefer not to drill the
shelf yourself, we offer pre-installed Heavy Duty Brackets for purchase as
well that do not require drilling.
If you DID NOT purchase our pre-drilled, pre-mounted Heavy Duty Bracket,
see page 3 for mounting instructions.
If you also purchased a Heavy Duty Bracket, see page 4.
INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: Please note that since we do not know where your studs are located, we are unable to pre-drill any holes for the hardware. Thank you!
- It is recommended you mount brackets to at least 1 stud.
- Mark a level line across the wall where the piece will be hung
- Mark where your studs are located on the wall
- Prep your shelf by drilling 2 holes (½”) and just deep enough to fit the bracket. We recommend adding a piece of tape to your drill bit so you know where to stop! (This is not done ahead of time because we have no way of knowing where your studs will be located for your particular application)
- Screw bracket(s) into appropriate locations
- Slide shelf/mantel over the brackets.
- Check for level and adjust accordingly.
Includes 2 Brackets with screws. Please use common sense! We recommend you contact a local professional for additional mounting help if you are not familiar with tools!
HEAVY DUTY BRACKET INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: Please note that since we do not know where your studs are located, we are unable to pre-drill any holes for the hardware. Thank you!
- Mark a level line across the wall where the piece will be hung – This mark should be ran at a height that should be close to the middle of your mantel – This is important to note because when you mount your mantel, the top of the mantel will be higher than that line and the bottom will be lower. – If you need it at a specific height you will need to determine how far it is from the top of your mantel to the center of the bracket.
- Mark the CENTER POINT of the Mantel on the level line
- On the BACK of the mantel make a mark at the center of the mantel and follow the mark down to the bracket ( should be inserted in the back of your mantel)
- Mark where your studs are located on the wall
- Now line your bracket mark up with your center mark on the wall and using the level line as a guide and the marked stud locations,
- Secure the bracket to the wall using screws into the studs – if your screw head is too small for the slot in the bracket we recommend using a washer to prevent the screwhead from penetrating all the way through the bracket
- Slide shelf/mantel over the brackets.
- Check for level and adjust accordingly
Please use common sense! We recommend you contact a local professional for additional mounting help if you are not familiar with tools!
